Up until this morning I hadn't heard the term "impact strips" before... just black electrician's tape to create the "black stripe" on the bumpers. After finding mention of "impact strips" on a parts website, and no clues offered as to how they are installed, finding your video was a God-send. Thanks for taking the time to make it; I now know that there will be no issues or surprises in installing these accessories!

Excellent, just 'polished' up some 71 bumpers and will accept the patina to prove car wasn't born yesterday and as they are Europa bumpers but without indicator cutouts, was thinking of buying rubber strips. Wasn't sure just how to fit, found you, so now sorted thanks v much. Only idea I have is not to blank off holes, the temperature changes will be massive under black and metal so condensation will be a problem. I use massive quantities of ACF-50 fluid on everything so I will just coat all metal before applying!

Hi. I would like to install the impact stripes on my 71 Súper Beetle, but I observed that my front bumper have two rectangular holes in each extreme (like yours), but have not the same holes in the rear bumper. Could you tell me if it is correct. Maybe my Bug got a brazilian replacement bumper (brazilian Bug have not a impact rubber stripes in the bumper, just a black adhesive tape. Thank you

If you have the openings at either end you’re good to go. That’s where the strip mounts. The other holes in the bumper don’t play a role in any securing of any kind. You should be good.

Thank you so much. I need to make two holes at the end of the rear bumper. Front bumper is OK to mount impact strip. Thanks again

@@joeyo5952 fair enough maybe I should have shown it but, no offence, I didn’t think anyone would be interested in watching me turn two screws in. I thought explaining it would be enough. Honestly though, to answer your question, all you need to do is tighten the screws at either end. 👍 You’ll be good to go.
