thank you.! I losT so many friends and parents that lost the battle against cancer. It is a good project for our women's club here in Danamrk , so we can help others with our leftover fabric. God bless you for that. And of course I will subscribe
Thank you for this tutorial. I have cancer and have made myself this cap, I love it! I also make a lot for donation where I get my infusions. I would never make anything for donation that I wouldn't wear myself. This is my favorite head cover. I bring the ties to the front and give them a twist and then knot them in the back. I also have rounded out the end of the ties for a softer look.
I am so glad that you like this project and am pleased that you donate them as well. I hope that you are doing well with your treatment. I will be thinking of you.
I have sewn this pattern many times. It is the best fitting pattern that I have done. I put my ties in after I sew the two pieces together. Then when you turn under the back part of I insert the finished tie. This is wonderful pattern and I use all the time for a chemo cap or nurses scrub cap.
Can you tell me about doing the ties. I didn’t like the way the fold in seams looked. I thought to sew ties in last instead of first which is kind of what we did with elastic in masks..
@@deborahjpinson6551skip sewing the ties to b piece. Put a and b pieces together. When you put cap together with both pieces of fabric sew together leaving the bottom of cap open. Then you can put ties in when you have both right sides showing. I put the ties in and fold the fabric in and topstitch them together. So yes, I sewed them in last.
Once I got the grain right -this pattern was excellent and went together perfectly every time. I made 4 in one day for a friend in need. Loved how they came together. The only alteration I made was making the shorter straps and adding them in as I put the two caps together for the final sew. I love how they turned out. THANK YOU
This is timely! One of my younger sisters is going through chemo and now I know how to sew her a cap (this past week she had to shave her head). My LLC will be sewing and donating some of these to my local cancer center, where my oldest daughter volunteers. Thank you so much for sharing!!
Thank you. Great idea. I am hoping I can make these for our local cancer hospitals. I'm not a great seamstress, but I think these are within my capabilities. ❤️
Thank you for this tutorial! The video is so clear in the directions and the pattern is wonderful. I’m making a cap for my friend who is going through chemo. I’m using flannel so it’s soft and warm but not bulky.
I plan on going to try this My daughter and I are sewing caps and masks and really appreciate the chemo cap pattern for a friend going through cancer for the third time. Thank you so much.
I just made one for my mum who has just started to lose her hair with chemo. This is really quite a tight fit once, although I do confess to having a massive swede 🤣 I hope it fits my mum, and that she wears it! She is a fussy bugger and I've made it with batik fabric so it's hopefully less sweaty in Spain in the summer! Thank you so much for the pattern and video. I am pretty clueless at sewing and if I can make it anyone can!
Hi, just wanted to update to say my mum has this hat and it fits! If anything it’s actually a little big! No need for me to worry about it being too small. Thank you again for the pattern.
I am a cancer pt that rec'd a wig and some jersey caps. I told the Resource person I wanted to give back. So far I have a group of 3 other ladies that wish to make hats. This is perfect and hope to download your pattern. I don't know what the ties are for unless just a bow to tie in the back? Maybe I missed a picture of it on an actual head? Thank you very much.
The written instructions are completely different than the instructions in this video. Wish I had seen this first. Hoping my ties work out when u sew the 2 caps together. A wonderful friend is having her first treatment today and I hope to make this cap, a chemo pillow and a face mask for her.
I have just made my first cap from your pattern and I must say I am quite pleased with myself. Your tuition was brilliant. I have one question though, is there a bigger size? I think my friends head is a little larger than mine and it is her that I am making it for. Thank you for a wonderful demo.
I love this pattern and chemo cap idea! Do you have a pattern for Mastectomy pillows and the drip bags? I have a family member I would like to make a set for. Thank you in advance for considering my question.
Pattern easy to make, however, sure do wish you did a video on how you turned the straps right side out! It's taking me forever. Is there any specific way I can do this without pulling my hair out?
I like this video but it’s hard to see where in the fabric you attach the straps and you don’t show a sewing machine angle? Can you do a small segment on that?
I would estimate about 13 yds for 35 caps. You will need 13 yds for the outer and 13 yds for the lining. You can use a bit less if you do not make the ties.
sadly, after all that, I just can't afford to make a cap (much needed) that I haven't even seen on a head, fake or human. but thank you anyway for kindly sharing. Be well. bye now
Just got patter off american cancer society web page. I could not fiq out why how we had to sew them and then turn. I want to make these, simple, i do port pillows already..

Thank you so much! In the video, when do you sew the last side on the ties?
Are you referring to the short side? if so that should have been attached to the Fabric B piece.
@@SewVeryCrafty the video shows you sew three sides of the straps and I didn’t see where you sewed the last side after turning right sides out?

unfortunately there is no bigger size. It should be fairly easy to scale up though.
I like this!
Thank you
Thank you. Is there a reason why you didn't use interfacing?
Because this is for chemo patients I felt that I wanted it as soft as possible and interfacing, depending on the type, can be stiff.
What is the best type of fabric for the caps? Cotton or jersey knit
Either is fine but the knit is probably softer on the sensitive head. I used cotton in the video.
May God bless your kindness..
Thanks you
Are the straps for decoration or do you tie them? Where can I find a picture of someone wearing this csp?
They are basically for decoration
Thank you💗

't but I will do some research and see what I can find.

It would be more helpful if you showed your sewing of the cap also.
Thank you. I have learned that lesson and try to show more sewing on my videos.
@@SewVeryCrafty Hi how much fabric would you need to complete the cap?
About 1/4 yd each for the outer and lining and another 1/8 yd for the straps would be my guess.
It would have been nicer to see the sewing and cutting. You say it's beginner friendly yet you didn't show the sewing for a beginner timid of curves.
Thanks for the tip. I am always overly concerned about the length of the videos. Perhaps I should not be.
