- When you apply for an immigration benefit, you typically receive a receipt notice. On the receipt notice, you are assigned a priority date - the date upon which USCIS began processing the case. In this video, we review all of the situations that your priority date might become important and let you know how best to think about this important aspect of immigration law.

I got my green card Visa yesterday from the U.S embassy in my country. I 130 unmarried son of U.S citizen over 21 years of age ....my priority date was July 2013...you sir have helped alot with guidelines,advice, information and knowledge God bless you and team

@@truman4899 nope. I think its the most rational thing to do in her situation, a lawyer even advised her that she would be wasting her money pursuing that. Not every immigration case is the same

Hi I hope you doing good, like your video they are very good and informative. What if you received your I-797 approval notice for I-129 with no priority date but the notice have a validity date from 3-8-24 to 7-8-24 what does that means the petition is a US citizen ?? Thanks for the response.

I personally believe that the priority date has become a joke. Our “priority” date is August 19, 2019 meanwhile they are processing May 2020 🙈🙈 and we are still waiting on my husband’s I-130 approval and he’s in the USA 🇺🇸 so not sure what the hold up is. They have confirmed that it’s way beyond the normal processing times though. We have put in 3 expedite requests already and have been told that apparently if we don’t hear back after the third request, that we can then ask to speak to the actual immigration officer directly. Is it possible they lost our case at this point? 🤣 because something isn’t right here

Thank you for this info, Jim. What about adjustment of status via asylum? The I-797C received for these kind of applications does not have a priority date listed. What does this mean?

My priority date is january 10, 2020 got approved for ir1 april 26 , 2022..when is my schedule interview sir? Im outside the US
My husband's priority date is November 2017 (IR1). His I-130 was approved in June 2018, and he just got his I-601A approved in January 2023.

My petetion was rejected on the basis of failed transaction for my I 140 petetion, and USCIS returned my file, if I want to 're submit my file again with successful transaction, how will USCIS allocate me my priority date? Will it be counted from my 1st submission or 2nd submission ( after successful transaction)?

Did you ever figure this out? I’m in the same boat. We got denied for our I-485 for priority date could be established.
My son was approved May 4th and his prority date was February 2015 still now nothing from them
