This is the only game I think I have ever played where I just had tears streaming from my eyes silently as I watched and listened to what was unfolding before me. NO other game has ever gotten a reaction out of me like this to this day. Thank you Mercurysteam and Oscar Araujo.
This game litteraly broke me! It's so sad, so unfair! Even when you helped God to banish Satan and Zobek, he just offer you the chance to see Marie one last time. I should have been really mad if I was Gabriel.
Always make me cry this music when Gabriel see Marie at the final.
"He isn't listening Gabriel, your fate is fixed."
That hope of salvation has kept me replaying the scene over and over. No one should be denied their chance.
And all the effort made to recover who you loved so much, all that was in vain.

This might be just me but I was confused as to why he fell into such despair... his love is under the protection of god himself, and after his death he would have been reunited with her for eternity... and until then he knows she would watch him... I thought it was rather perfect.

You have to play the dlc he had to become a vampire to destroy an the forgotten one this takes a way his human attributes like caring and love and all that crap and corrupted him
Also I think the prophecy says whoever kills the lord of the shadows shall sit on there throne and become the prince of darkness
Because none of that mattered at the time. She had died because he killed her even tho it was thru the mask. It was his hands that ended her life and he never forgave himself for it. At this point in the game gabriels was very deeply sunken into his grief and regret. He had done all that fighting believing he could undo the the things he had done so when he got to the end to find that was not the case and that his actions were forever he felt extremely guilt and heartbroken for it instead of thinking beyond that to the afterlife. He even displays as much when his wife tries to tell him that he has gods love and forgiveness and he is a fallable man who has done great good he sees none of that all he sees is an unworthy version of himself that has done terribly dark things to achieve a false promise or rather a promise he misinterpreted. For the mask allows to see as god would which means he sees souls as u would any living being or creature as alive.
Once u play the DLC it shows him sinking further n further into his depression falling victim to his clouded thoughts and he is forced to sacrifice himself yet again and again to save the world and it makes him bitter and angry and resentful and he feels betrayed and abonded by god instead and chooses to embrace the darkness cursing gods name any chance he gets. Even in the second game u can see at the beginning despite all of his sour feelings he is still depressed and sad inside no amount of destruction or cursing god changes the sadness in his heart because he was once a good man and that still lingers deep down
