actually he's doing exceptionally well. Live performance is horribly represented in videos and such. But also as a general rule it can be hard to hear yourself on stage. Most vocalists at the least end up being flat because of that and a lack of breath

Smoking has a part to play but the main reason is he's been battling with a sinus infection but he's actually an amazing singer live look at the older live vids especially open letter

Same, I agree he's off key sometimes but that doesn't mean he cannot sing. He actually did this song amazingly too. Have you heard him recently? Like night and day; much more improved.

Ahren generally has great vocals. A lot of people bash on him because he 'doesn't sound like that on records' but little do they know that he paces himself. This means he's not blowing his vocal chords out every song and can last the entire set.

I would think that its more like them enforcing the idea that if you commit suicide thinking that everything will be better off, you'll stay in limbo full of regrets and sadness, rather than pass on to heaven. Thats what I think, given the context of most of their songs.
