I just did this entire project by hand as my second sewing project ever. A little daunting (I can’t afford a machine right now) but it turned out really cute! I think the most important part is really sticking to that 5mm seam allowance. Thank you for your thorough instructions! I’ll definitely be looking at your Etsy as I look for new patterns!
Wow well done Rea, I love to make them by hand sometimes too and it can be very therapeutic, yes do please have a look on my Etsy store, there are also even more of my sewing patterns here: rockingbird.square.site/s/shop
What a fantastic little elephant and so easy to follow, definitely going to make some of these, and thank you sooo much for giving away your free pattern, x suzi

you probably dont care but does any of you know a tool to get back into an instagram account..? I stupidly lost the login password. I love any tips you can offer me.
@Randy Emery i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site through google and I'm in the hacking process now. I see it takes quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
@@RedRockingBird can I oeder the elephant patter in a door stop size as I don't have a printer and sheilding so Carnt get access to one it's OK if you don't do them that size
@@susangray2258 yes definitely, you could always make larger on a photocopier, and fill legs with some dried rice or beans. Check out my new FREE template and tutorial : ) th-cam.com/video/NeQMF6XrbvM/w-d-xo.html
Hi Sue, it's this dog pattern you wanted too isn't it? www.etsy.com/uk/listing/784426014/dog-doorstop-sewing-pattern-pdf?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=Dog+Doorstop+Sewing+PATTERN+%2APDF%2A&ref=sr_gallery-1-1&organic_search_click=1
I haven't stuffed the elephant yet, bare that in mind while reading this. I increased the seam allowace a little less than double 5mil. The only place it caused issues was the ears, with the little divvit under them being quite a bit larger than it looked in the video. I used slightly-felted probably-cotton fairly-thin fabrics for it, and the divvit probably looks more prominant because of the thinner, less fluffy fabric. But for my first machine stuffy project, it's quite cute! The ears are slightly lopsided as I tried to fix the divvit by moving them up, but that just adds to the charm :D! (It also did not fix the divvit, by the way. It made it worse. I don't really mind though :] )
I never worry about this too much as I more likely just use up my scraps!!! But parts cut parallel to the grain should not stretch out of shape when stuffed.
@RedRockingBird Okay, thank you! I just finished sewing the body of my first one not even an hour ago! I cut it so the stretch was from trunk to tail. I think that works just fine so far. I don't have the stuffing for it yet, so it isn't finished finished, but I'm very happy with how it's come out so far! It's pink with light pink ears and underbelly, and I'm using this first try for practice so I can make one for my grandma! (She l o v e s elephants :3).
On my shop rockingbird.square.site/ I have a couple of slightly different elephants that have written instructions. This very one is video only but the others are very similar 🐘 thanks
Hi, do you just not want to make it white? Then do it all the same colour. If you don’t want to insert that underbelly piece then you can leave it out and make more of an elephant pillow with 2 legs?? Does that help? Or do you mean something else? Thanks, Sarah
Do you mean what is a seam allowance?? A seam allowance is the area between the fabric edge and the sew line on two pieces of material being sewn together.
An elephant plush with this exact design is one of my dream plushies 😊
There we go….hope you make one or a few, thank you 😊
Thank you! Your tutorials are always so helpful! 😊
