I did the circuit hike a few years back. It was breathtakingly beautiful. I would rate it as one of the best day hikes in the world.

Thank you two for the spectacular video! We've hiked in Banff and Jasper. This September we are going to visit Yoho NP. Your video not only has showcased the beauty of the park but has also provided a wealth of information. Great Job!

The boats and canoes are available to lodge guests only, FYI.

Good to know. The public used to be able to rent them.

How hard is it to get lodging at Lake O'Hara Lodge for a 1st time person? I put in a request for 5 days to be flexible for 5 days 2nd week of August of 2024. They said I would hear back in January if I got lodging for next year.

We have never stayed at the lodge personally but I’ve heard that returning customers have priority so I’d imagine it’s pretty difficult. Good luck tho!

I’ve been hiking the area since 1985. The best way to get into the lodge is: request earliest time in the summer season. Used to be about 2nd or 3rd week of June.
Be totally flexible with dates and duration. Prior guests do have priority. August is virtually impossible for first time guests, cause of popularity of mid to late summer to fall. Many lodge guests return year after year.
When I first went to the lodge back in the 90’s the only availability was late June. We did a lot of snowshoeing LOL.

@brendanminter2166 Jume would not work for me because I always start at Glacier National Park. Then, I will drive into Canada. Early June at Glacier National Park, everything is not fully open.

Have been trying for 3 years to snag a permit (Day bus or campground) to Lake O Hara....NO LUCK. I have talked to other people and they are going on 5 years. These permits are gone within 5 minutes of opening day online......so for most people the only feasible way is the 11 km gravel road walk in .....then begin your day hike. This is reason why it is not crowded up there on the trails. Both good and bad I guess.

Yeah for sure. Have you tried to use Shnerp to snag a cancellation?

Unfortunately the boats are not available for rental. They are for the use of lodge guests.

I have tried for 3 years to get a stay booked at the Lake O'Hara lodge. Seems impossible.

I’ve heard they give priority to returning customers so the people that have been going there for 10 or even 15+ years have the highest priority
