Have you tried or thought about putting a big drainage or culvert pipe starting at the end by the fence and run it under you land bridge to the gully, so the water runs through the pipe instead of destroying the edge by the fence. Then move the fence up a little bit to better ground
I was going to say the same thing!!
I aoso thought that might be better as a permanent fix. That is what we do here and it should last 20+ years.
I was thinking the same thing. The water has to go somewhere and it will wash out in another place.
Same thought here
Great thhought
Our friends who live 11 miles outside of Midland TX. and have a goat and sheep farm. After years of worrying about their animals during tornado season they built an above ground tornado shelter for them. They taught their guardian dogs to herd the goats and sheep into it when Danny sounded a siren. After a couple of weeks they had it down. I didn't think it was possible but they proved me wrong ! They built the shelter themselves a little at a time by using cinder blocks, rebarb and cement. Rebarb , steal and cement for the roof. Danny found several videos on TH-cam that showed them how to build it. They did the same thing for the chickens house. The shelters have steel doors that open on the inside and Danny taught Sadie their 6 year old guardian dog how to open and close it. The chickens door opens to the outside and either Danny or Sue can close it before going into their storm celler. The chickens and ducks are now trained to go into it whe it gets bad outside. The 3 guardian dogs are now trained to herd the goats and sheep to go into their storm shelter when Danny or Sue push the siren. They don't have to worry about a tornado killing their animals anymore.
Thanks for giving Rachel credit where credit is due. It’s great to hear you praising her. She’s a keeper!
One method to solve the drainage issue is to remove all of that debris, all of it so you have clean ground. Put a 2'-3' diameter culvert in and put that levee back. Clean dirt only and pack it in 2"-4" lifts. Reinforce the front surface with that concrete debris. On the levee, make a low spot crossing it for a controlled over flow, NOT over the culvert. Put the overflow off to the side. Use that concrete debris you have to line it so it will not erode out. You will have to fabricate a grate to cover the entrance of the culvert. I would suggest welding some rebar with a lifting eyelet to enable you to remove it to clean out an debris that washed down that gully. That will buy you a few years for you to work on some swales to direct the other runoff into the dry creek.
Am very glad that Rachel actually chased the goats back home and neither goats or dogs got hurt. Or Rachel either. You guys are a good team. Happy Mother's day to Rachel.
Happy Mother's Day, Rachael! ❤
I'm so glad no one was hurt. And that you were able to get all the animals back home.
You guys are so lucky you didn’t lose all those goats. Well done Rachel. You’re a champion. So are the dogs for staying with the goats to keep them safe. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I'm praying for you all to bounce back from this storm! Looks like Lensky was affected by the storm, and I'm sure all the other animals are as well. I know your area is getting frequent storms! I am praying for your continued strength in the midst of these storms.
I am thankful you are are safe.
Great job getting the critters back in their paster, Rachel.
Great job filling up their escape route, Kevin.
Thank you!
Love you guys. This is the best shpw on the tube.I am 64 years old from Wales, UK and you and Rachel and family and especially the livestock have taught me so much about nature and farming that
i would always have taken for granted . Please don't ever stop showing us life on Hidden Heights, it's just so good and so informative. Thanks for brightening up our days !
YOU HAVE SUCH A CLEAN PRETTY HOMESTEAD, SOME HAVE JUNK EVERYWHERE BUT AT LEAST YOU ONLY HAVE ONE AREA FOR JUNK, GLAD ALL ANIMALS ARE FINE
Thank you, it's hard to not have some junk
Rachel, I am so glad that you found the goats and dogs and was able to get them back to there pasture. Kevin, thank you for filling the hole with debris. You both take such great care of all your animals. Happy Mother's Day Rachel. 💖💐
Thank you for watching
was russel limping? your family and farm are lucky that rachel knew what needed to be done and did it... no complaining or dragging her feet she just dug in. she did herself... and your farm and family, proud...
Those goats were like “Hey girls! Party in the lower field!” The dogs just went along for the ride!
Yup
The dogs were the chaperone
My suggestion would be to put in two smaller ponds not very deep to slow the water down and would drain fast. The speed of the water is what causes the most damage.
You and Rachel are such a good team. You seem to make a lot of wise choices. Happy Mother’s Day Rachel!
That camera will give you peace of mind. Also helps to identify who or what is back there. I have been thinking of you & praying you & family including animals are all OK.
I think Russell has the same walk in his step that Cora does. On Video, It makes them both look like they’re limping.
Visibly so . Vet needs to check them before it gets worse
Maybe do a culvert and new fence with some solar hot wires across top middle and bottom of that area. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Hi Kevin, Kevin you have been looking a little pail lately. I hope your diabetes is doing okay. Russell is getting so big. I am glad they didn't take off either or the goats, Yes thank you Rachel and Happy Mothers day, Love you guys God bless and until next time take care
I'm no farmer, but I'm thinking building a secondary section of fence about 10 feet in would at least keep the animals in until the part that is eroding can be repaired.
I am so glad you guys are safe. I could not imagine living there. Send prayers and love. Oh, Rachel you are a Rockstar ❤
Grandpa told me a really long time ago if you don't see any birds there is Tornadoes around. Animals know a lot more than we do about the weather.
Omg Russell has grown so freaking much i cant believe how big he is now hes just so dang adorable......happy Mother's day Rachel i hope you had a great day beautiful.....
Looks like Russel's limping a bit. Praise God you were spared of worse. Go Fund Me and let us help you out.
SENDING PRAYERS TO EVERYONE EFFECTED BY THESE STORMS I AM SO GLAD YOU AND YOUR AMAZING FAMILY ARE OK GOD BLESS HAPPY MOTHERS DAY RACHEL ❤
How nice it would be, if our senior citizens news about electronic cameras, but most of us are too old to learn
Build a damn with hydroelectric generation in case of power failures.
Edit: I drilled 3 weep holes in the bottom of my feeders for my dogs and it has helped a lot keeping their food from getting too soggy to eat here in east Texas
Glad y'all did good through the storms. That had to be scary finding out your animals are missing. Hope that fixes the problem. GOD bless y'all.
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY RACHAEL
Hello Kevin, Rachel, Kyah, & Calab, Happy Mothers Day Rachel 34💐❤ Great job Rachel getting the dogs & goats back in their pens! I'm glad you found them all! Kevin so happy you found where they got out than got it filled in! 🤞 So glad you have made it thru all this bad crazy weather. Take care & God Bless 🙏🤗❤😊✝️✌
How cool. The dogs stayed with the goats 🐐!!!❤❤❤
Perhaps, put up a fence to separate that area from the goats. That way, the won’t have easy access to the dumping area nor that damaged fence area.❤😊
Praise God Racheal found out about the goats and got them all back! Are you getting hit harder with rain this year more than normal?
Wow the sweet son of Cora is growing faster than weeds! He looks great. Praying the heavy rains and tornadoes stop for your entire area.
Happy Mother's Day to Rachel! I am glad you are all safe after that storm. I'm also glad that Rachel was able to get all the goats back on the correct side of the fence, as well as Kora. Kora stayed with the herd. Well done, also to Kevin for filling in that area to shore it up more, and hopefully prevent the goats and dogs from getting out again. It's cute to see the baby goats gamboling around with their baby goat energy, and to see Russell being playful, too. He is growing up fast.
Happy Mother’s Day Rachel!
My 30 year Kyah took me out to lunch today! I hope your Mother’s Day was as great as you!
Oh my. So grateful Rachel was able to get them back home before they wandered away.
Hi Y'all, you don't understand, the water flow will keep flowing that way no matter what you do. All that covering will not work unless you put in french drain or covert. Your best bet is to block off that side so the goats can't go down there on rainy days.
A virtual hug to you and your lovely family. Your management of the farm and the animals is a pleasure to watch. I admire that you work and look after the farm so well.
I'm guessing the goats and dogs were found. And I imagine the goats getting out and as the dogs are not herding dogs but shepherd dogs, they went with them. Like a family day out haha
Rachel your vigilance saved the goats.
Rachel did a great job! What a relief she was able to catch the animals in time
Every thing looks so green and beautiful. Rachel to the rescue…again.
If you eventually build a cement wall add a 20" culvert that goes way out over the embankment and use riffraff rock leading into it, and where water falls too.
Great Video! I am so thankful that the Rachael was able to get the holes patched up and the animals were unharmed. It was fun watching to plug the holes. Praying you guys don’t have any more serious storms. Water can literally be mean the difference between life or death … too much is very dangerous to land and animal. Hugs! Thanx for taking time out for us.
🤗~Becka
BEAUTIFUL piece of property. Have such respect for your ethic -- faith, family and work! ALL THE BEST! and RUSSELL is one handsome BOY!
Hope ya had a wonderful Mother's Day Rachel. Russell is getting so big.... So glad to hear all of you are OK in regard to the storms. Been watching the weather and y'all are really getting blast all around ya. Stay safe, please... 💖💖💖
You work that machine like a pro! Great job Rachel and Kevin
I am so happy y’all are well. If I may suggest, adding a second row of fencing 50’ back from the washout area so the livestock has no access. It is also common in my neck of the woods in East Texas for landowners to add rock and log berms to slow flood waters and reduce erosion. The addition of new tree and bush plants in swells along the waters path can be most effective in slowing the water across your land.
Don't pile up too much at fence, putting alot of stress on fence & Goats could climb up & go over fence, possibly getting when they land on otherside.
Try spreading big rocks & concrete back from fence & on flat areas & set culvert pipe both sides, to divert water & pressure to slow erosion.
God Bless sending prayers for everybody that was in the track of storms or affected by the storm. Love from Northeastern Pennsylvania ❤❤❤❤
Always impressed with your skills using the heavy equipment. Well done! Happy Mother's Day to Rachel. Blessings to you all from northern Illinois.
Thanks so much!
What an incredibly beautiful day. You and Rachel rock.!!! 👍👍❤️🇺🇸✝️
Kevin you should just mix concrete on top of the dam you made so it cascades over the concrete rather than eroding the soil. You did a great job filling that giant hole under the fence. You should probably raise the fence height in that section.
Get yourself three or four 12" plastic drain pipes abot 15 to 20 feet long and line them up facing into the pen area and under the fence.
They'll let the water drain through and keep the creatures from getting out..
It will also save your fence.
Great job getting the goats and dogs back Rachel and blocking the giant hole under the fence. You too Kevin since you reinforced everything and added more rocks and debris to block the animals from trying to escape there again. You’re a good team!! I’m happy the dogs are okay and I’m assuming Mojo and Smeegle are okay. I hope Mojo wasn’t too scared. Is Grace okay? Anyway, thank goodness you and the kids and Skeeter are okay too. Happy Mother’s Day Rachel! You’re a wonderful Mom. 🌹🪻🌸🌺🌷🌼🌻 I hope you have a wonderful evening and can relax now. Take care. ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Glad Rachel could get the animals back.
Dont you figure they were trying to get away from storm rather than just running off. Thats way Cora stayed with them so they wouldn't leave property. Just my theory. Keep up the good work ❤😊❤
Happy Mother's Day Rachel! Congrats on saving the day this morning! Kevin, watching you wrangle that Kubota to fill in the gaps was impressive. So happy all the goatie-goats and other animals were safe. 👍
Good job Kevin!! I'm so happy you guys are all right!! This spring/summer been bad for everyone!! Prayers for everyone 🙏 ❤️
Happy Mother's Day, Rachel. Glad to hear everyone, and all animals are safe.
Glad Rachel was such a trooper. Fun watching you use the tractor.
Love your videos and enjoy watching them. May the lord bless and protect you and your family and the animals. Extra prayer
I’m so glad you all are ok and the animals are safe!!
God Bless Rachel🙏 She really had a mess on her hands. What an amazing woman. That had to be difficult getting all those animals back on to the right side of the fence!! I will be praying the rain stops or isn’t a heavy downpour. Happy Mother’s Day Rachel ❤️❤️❤️ Hugs and Love to you all and all the animals.
Grammie Suzie
HAPPY MOTHERS DAY RACHEL. GOD BLESS YOU SWEET GIRL.
Thx Kevin , glad Rachael got the animals back in the fence . Good job. 😊💕
That storm probably scared the heck out of all the animals! I'm glad Rachel was able to find them and bring them back. I had heard on the news the day of the tornado when they mentioned Sulphur. I thought Holy Cow! So many families I watch on TH-cam. I felt so concerned for all the families. The town really got hammered. It was so nice, so many people came out and helped your community!
Bravo, Rachel for herding back in the animals. ❤❤😊
Love you all so much! Prayers about the flooding! God bless ❤
What about a French drain with a large drain pipe underground to drain off the water???❤
"Goats had a night on the town" 😂
Hey Kevin and Rachel, thank goodness you are all okay and none of the animals were harmed 😳!
JO JO IN VT 💞
Happy Mothers day Rachel 💗🌷🎁🤗

So glad Rachael found the goats and the dogs. Great catch. God’s blessings

Thankful y’all are ok. Happy Mother’s Day to your lovely wife. 🥰🌹.
Happy Mother's Day, Rachel!
The last tornado missed the Arms house by less than 900 yards!
That was as scary as one would even want to think on.
Quick fix, make some swells, swales some have called it, but you have the equipment to do it fast. Guide the water to where it isnt harming your land, make it work for you.
RACHEL HAPPY MOTHERS DAY! GLAD U GUYS AN ANIMALS OR OK.
💛💐 Happy Mother's Day, Rachel.💐😅
That Rachel is the Best!
