It's a lot easier to make a horizontal cut at the CEJ, pop the crown off then section the roots. Your technique will will cause oblique fractures of the roots. Then you have to fish the roots out. Also with your technique, if roots are curved, no way are they coming out.
Thank you, I appreciate your input. It’s always great to hear from clinicians and their various techniques.
For those asking; I consider it easier to section a molar and take individual pieces as opposed to fighting with 3 roots at the same time. It is less traumatic and it saves your hands. Work smarter not harder. If the tooth is loose then yes, forcep only. But a solid molar will have to be split.
Whipmix worked with me on creating this model. Their amazing CADCAM department worked with me on creating the PDL space. I took some time off from teaching at FAU. My wife passed in 2019. I have been healing and am ready to give back to the university again, ready to teach again. Thank you for understanding my motivation here with this procedure simulation. Best regards, Dr. Gerry Cuomo

You're welcome

San Diego Dentistry thank you!
Thank you!
perfect tutorial!Which burs you used?do u like to use long shank burs to get a deep cut or normal diamond burs for cavity prep will do fine?Kindly tell us about the burs you prefer to use in cases like these
The dust went straight into my nostrils, just watching the tutorial😁
I’m so pleased that my parents sent me to the appropriate doctor.
Can you do a demonstration for mandibular molars?
Why like this and not the normal pulling?
Why not just use molar forcep? Why the need of section?
because it is much easier
Which lab did you use to make this model? can you give me contact info?
Why to make it so complicated? Why not to simply use molar forceps?
Thanks for the reply. This was an exercise on sectioning and elevating roots with the least amount of trauma. Yes, you could certainly use molar forceps, but this exercise did not include that technique. Thanks for watching.
thanku..
Got such tooth model to practice??
Plz make a tutorial on horizontal impacted wisdom tooth extraction
Whipmix Corp helped me with the print process. I can check to see if they would like to do it.
