Sayanora Philip is an Indian Musician, Playback Singer and Music Composer who primarily works in Malayalam Movies. She is known for her unique voice and style of singing and is one of the most sought-after singers in the industry today. She has also worked with the legendary music composer A. R. Rahman in the movie Sivaji and has also been a part of his team that toured the world in 2010. She is one of the top On Stage performers in the Malayalam and has performed the world over.
In this interview Sayanora tells us her story of dealing with all kinds of struggles. She has had a difficult time dealing with obstacles and challenges and has emerged stronger every time. She talks about how she had dealt with postpartum depression, how parenting and motherhood has never been an easy ride. She talks about the expectations that the society places on women with regards to parenting. How body shaming is an issue she dealt with in all her growing up years and how over the years she has come to accept her body and her own self. She is always been an inspiration and idol to me because I am a dark woman. To be honest, I dont have any problem for that. But Society or people around me made me to think that it's not good. So like all of my life I have been searching someone in India that popular and successful in black color. Then I finally found you. You made me to belive color doesn't matter , talent talks.. It’s you need to understand that you are beautiful no matter what. You love yourself and be confident that you are a real beauty. React towards the ignorant people who will try to let you down with words. Don’t be in silence towards racists. You need to react it with confidence. Don’t accept any kind of racism & bullying from the ignorant people.
Postpartum depression is something that should get more attention...I had postpartum depression and i escaped from this because of some books I read before my delivery.It was the toughest face in my life .
I don't usually comment but I must say that she's an amazing person. Saya knows what should and shouldn't be said.. She's a person who constantly reflects about life . Very humble too. Thank you Dhanya ma'am for bringing her.
Everytime Saya talk about her childhood, it hits me too. I am not saying I would have been a Maduri Dixit if not my KG class teacher pushed me to the second row in the action song. After watching so many interviews and such talk shows now I realize that the strange feeling I had and the state which I went through after delivery was postpartum depression… my mother was with me and my husband was there too but athonnum enne calm down cheythilla. I have taken epidural injection my stitches got infected and I had cracked nipples I was taking Tylenol 3 tablets and that is a strong painkiller and sedative I couldn’t sleep during day and nights I used to cry when my baby cries because I was scared to feed her with those cracked nipples 😢. And after all these years I found out that I was going through POSTPARTUM DEPRESSION 😢

Totally trying to understand her. But the fact that she knows her child is already taking up adult roles, may end up having traumas in the future and yet not being able to do anything is pretty scary . When parents end up emotionally depending on their under age children and the care giver roles are reversed it affects them hugely.

Postpartum Depression is so real. Thanks for voicing it. People at home need to be extremely supportive to pregnant mums & new mums. Vulnerability is to be spoken & should be normalized. Women are womens enemy mostly. I hope we build a kinder & loving space for each other. Saynora is such a true lovely soul. Love & hugs dear. Lovely Lovely host. Wish could have met Sayi some day.
Kindness is what we need in this world. I wonder why in the world people make fun or shame people on their appearance. What are people getting from it? All my life i have been body shamed. For being too thin, for wearing glasses and then when i put on weight after childbirth, for having a paunch. Even now if we are doing well, people always try to point out something in you to put you down. All these people who try to hurt others should watch your videos to see what people are really going through in spite of their bubbly or cheerful exterior. We are all human with feelings and emotions. When people are mean to others , you can only be so much strong.
