    01. Martial Arts - more weapon options
    02. BA unarmed strike no matter what you do.
    03. 3 options for unarmed strike - damage, grapple, or shove.
    04. Use Dex instead of Str for grapple and Shove DC.
    05. Martial Arts Die starts at level 1- d6 and ends at level 17 - d12
    06. Level 2 monks focus (used to be Ki) aka Focus Points.
    07. Patient Defence BA disengage with no FP cost. Spend a point to add dodge
    08. Step of the wind BA dash action for no FP cost. Spend a point to increase jump.
    09. Flurry of blows - now give two attacks. So it's the same.
    10. Uncanny metabolism - once per day regain all expended focus points plus some HP.
    11. Deflect attacks now works vs all attacks that do Blud, Piercing, and slashing damage. So melee, ranged, and spells attacks.
    12. Deflect energy on all damage types at level 13.
    13. Superior defense and other abilities to help increase survivability.
    - healing, negate charm frightened and poison.
    14. Heightened Focus level 10 -
    15. Stunning Strike got a nerf - only once per turn.
    - But if they pass the DC then speed is halved and next attack on them has advantage.

    Does "shove" only allow for pushing someone forward, or can it allow for a Judo-like flip (tossing an opponent behind them) if the monk wants?

      I'd allow that for flavor, put they also get back up immediately

    • @TheJakeJackson
      @TheJakeJackson 9 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      Any character can move a grappled opponent to any square they want at the cost of some movement. Does not need an action. Shove only pushes away or knocks prone. If you want the flavour of hitting a perfect greco 5 pointer and crushing them with your throw just take way of the open hand, grapple them, and then use flurry of blows topple with a little movement readjustment.

    Can you also deflect radiant, necrotic, psychic and force damage at higher levels, or just elemental damage? I mean, that would be interesting, but I would introduce a deflection of these damage types at a higher level.

    All in all, the changes are good, great even, but they can be improved as all things can.
    1) either a larger hit die or armor boosts sprinkled throughout. The only class that gets as close to the enemy are rogues and they aren't MAD for their ac, also they have the option for magic armor and weapons and will be prioritized for them.
    2) a decent range option. Let monks use ma for thrown or shot monk weapons. In a similar vein, remove the heavy restriction please because I want to use a naginata(glaive).

  • @aarndal90
    @aarndal90 15 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

    I have to be honest at this point. Personally, I generally like the overall changes that have been made for the edition update so far. A lot of things have been made more straightforward and clearer. But... Currently it seems like the game designers have only considered the players. Many changes seem to be very powerful on the player side and make the game master's life even more difficult and complicated. I've been running D&D for over 7 years now and I can't see how many of the changes within the player classes help make the game more fun for the game master. This is what worries me the most, because gamemasters are rare, and these changes could make them even rarer.

      Wait until they start getting into the DMG and MM content. Of course they’re front-loading the player content. The PHB comes out in two months.

      Personally the way I enjoy myself is when I see my players have fun. It's not as simple as me being happy when they do a lot of damage, of course they also like a challenge and want to be up against a worthy foe but so long as I can make their lives a little hard I am gonna be fine. That said I'm not sure I'll switch over yet, it's really up to them and so far we are enjoying 5e just fine.

      Thanks someone notices it.
      The wizard with expertise when it is the most powerful thing on earth is outrageous.
      And the sorcerer who doubles the matamagics.
      Or the illusionist wizard that shields its summons with illusions.
      And the new spells such as the chromatic orb that bounce on multiple targets.
      Players may be happy, but what about us DM.

      I'm sitting here writing all this PHB stuff down as abilities my BBEGs get to use too and I have to ask: what on earth are you GMs using to build your encounters? You realize you have access to every single thing players do *plus everything else in the world?* You can scale the game to be any difficulty level and you can outclass any power level, don't pretend you can't.

  • @robertdinsmore6583
    @robertdinsmore6583 15 วันที่ผ่านมา +6

    Yes, you improved the martial arts dice. But it still doesn’t keep up with damage output most other classes, especially at higher levels. And still have less equivalent abilities at higher level levels compared to other classes. Hopefully the subclasses that you talked about covered this.

      Don’t compare this monk to other martial sin 5e, paladins can no longer smite and fighters won’t likely have great weapon master/sharpshooter -5 +10 features.

      @robertdinsmore6583 how do you not see the good of this class. If you are only looking at damage, then maybe you should go play a video game.
      This class just got some serious buffs.
      Outside of damage what's wrong with this class?
      By the way a monk was never ment to be a heavy damage class. Look at the utility and also possibility.

    • @havocwrecker6305
      @havocwrecker6305 15 วันที่ผ่านมา +4

      @@RulesLawyerDnD this is currently the strongest defensive class in the game, deflect energy/attacks, evasion, proficiency with all saving throws and the ability to reroll saves, ability to end charmed, frightened, or poisoned for free, resistance to all damage but force, and the capstone adds +4 to AC.
      Side note, open hand monk at high levels averages 119 damage if it lands all attacks and opponent fails save against quivering palm. And this is before their epic boon selection .

    You can just end charmed, frightened and poisoned without any costs? Why don't you have to use a focus point here? This is terrible... As a GM I don't like this at all... A lot of effects of monsters or NPCs depend on these conditions. This would render them useless or at least greatly weaken them.
