    I’ve seen them live a few times- including at a massive festival. They bring huuuuge drums out, and the whole set is just intense. They sound exactly like this live- they’re insane. One of the best shows I’ve ever seen. 😭❤️

    the saying “flying too close to the sun” comes from the greek myth of Icarus. I don’t remember the details of the story but icarus and his father were trapped in a tower and the father made wings made from wax and feathers for them to use to escape. Icarus was told not to fly too close to the sun as to not melt the wax feathers. Icarus didn’t listen, too caught up in the fact that he was flying, and flew too close to the sun melting his wings and plummets to his death(i think)

      That's correct. King Minos was trapping Daedalus and Icarus in his labyrinth because the labyrinth didn't protect the minotaur

    I think you'll really like the rest of the deluxe version, their 2nd album Wild World and the album Automatic by a different artist: Don Broco

    You should also listen to All This Bad Blood. It’s an extended version of Bad Blood and SO GOOD. Laughter Lines, Poet and Skulls are amazing and deserve to listened to.

    They brought “Oblivion” back to their set list for their Give Me the Future tour over the summer, and I swear that particular song live broke me. It was SO GOOD. I went to 5 shows that tour and I swear I cried every time 😅

    Bastille’s name comes from the singers birthday being on the same day as Bastille day, a french holiday to do with the prison of the same name !
    the second cd from the All This Bad Blood version has some amazing extras! weight of living pt1 and some of my favourite songs by them are on there( Sleepsong, Haunt (demo), the draw , skulls and Laughter lines), there’s also a few imaginative covers on there ! would love to hear your thoughts on it! Loved your video !

    You should check out their other music! They have 3 more albums AND they have a few mixtapes called “Other People’s Heartache,” which are all incredible!! I also recommend checking out some live performances as well, because they are INCREDIBLE live! I’ve seen them live 10 times, and it’s never been a bad show!

    • @Amm2187_
      @Amm2187_ 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Also! This album was literally like made in a windowless basement and all written and produced by lead singer Dan Smith and producer Mark Crew! Dan is seriously one of the most incredible, brilliant, talented people ever ❤️

    • @Amm2187_
      @Amm2187_ 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also pt.2! Lots of the songs reference stories, myths, classic literature, stuff like that. Like, Icarus is a Greek myth. Weight of living part 1 references The Rime of the Ancient Mariner, Laura Palmer, These Streets, and Overjoyed are all inspired by the tv series Twin Peaks.

    Laura Palmer was a character in Dan Smith's favourite show. (Twin Peaks) Bastille are incredible love, been lucky enough to see them live , six times.
    You'll love their other albums

    Daniel in the Den stans have a higher IQ than the average music listener, it's just a fact. The DELUXE of this album is in my top 5 of all time, when Pompeii debuted it became the song with the most UK streams of all time and I'd just gotten my first iPad, so I went and bought the deluxe with leftover birthday money and it became the first piece of music I ever went and sought out myself! I've always loved music as a casual listener, but Bastille is what made me an active consumer of music, and eventually got me into internet fandom! With as successful as Pompeii was and how beautiful Dan's poetry is, this album deserved to be a classic of the decade and I'm eternally sad that the UK's limited outreach to the US market very obviously held it all back :// Any more Bastille on the channel will be absolutely gobbled up by me at least, might have to join that Patreon 💅💅

    • @bennshouts
      @bennshouts  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      HAHA, now that I can agree with 😛
      Totally agree, it deserves a lot more! Although Pompeii was honestly HUGE! It was every for so so so long! Nothing Bastille planned atm but never say never hehe!
      I did 3 of the deluxe songs on Patreon haha, the two covers and the Pt. 1! I'm not a huge deluxe fan (aka basically not at all haha)

    I think you might enjoy My Head is An Animal by Of Monsters and Men - it is a bit more folksy, but came out around the same time. Definitely also worth a listen!

    YES! 🙌🏻 another one of my favorites. Been a no-skipper and in the daily shuffle rotation since it came out all those years ago. One of my favorite things about Dan is that he doesn’t lose his accent when he sings. Overjoyed always gives me goosebumps but I think Oblivion will always be my favorite.
    Their latest album from this year “Give me the Future” is good too. I’ve got 8/13 hearted 💚.

    Uggghhhh, this band was my favorite while in HS. I have so many memories attached to this particular album, from cold cloudy days to entire days by the pool, walking under the sun or playing videogames. I think their first three albums are really good, first two being masterpieces. Fourth didn't connect with me, but I'll always love Bastille 🥰 . (I actually started learning English with their lyrics, so there's that too hehe)

    now that you are reacting to amazing albums. Maybe you could give a try to Maisie Peters’ album You Signed Up For This or Birdy’s album Young Heart. Both highly recommended.
