I think it's really great that you all decided to make this video to raise awareness of this problem. It's really saddening that those sorts of words are just being tossed around like that. I remember awhile back hers in the US it was really popular to accuse someone of "raping" you if they hugged you or jumped on you or something like that. Every couple years or so it seems to pop back up and it's really upsetting.

I too love what you guys are doing with this. It truly does offend me when I was at school and the teacher was discussing WWII and some kids in the back of the classroom go and insult Germany for something that was the fault of one man. Whenever people begin to label Germans as Nazi's I always stop them and explain just how inconsiderate they are being for a wonderful country. It seems that people have forgotten any other part of German history and only focused on this one horrible part. Also, I believe France to be a gentleman and he would never be one to do something as disgusting as rape. Spain being a pedophile is simply horrible, they are insulting him because of the fact that he was a good parent figure to Romano. And when you think about it, Romano really did need someone to care about him since he felt so rejected from the world. It is truly uplifting to see others love these characters for who they truly are, not for what someone thought would be a funny joke. Thank you, very much.

I love your cosplay group and I really look up to you guys for addressing this matter. Seeing as how my mother was a victim of rape after her best friend tricked her, I just really want to thank you guys for this video. My family comes from German descent (except I live in America), so whenever I hear someone calling Germany or German's in general Nazi, I think about how my great-grandparents must have felt during WWII, and I get offended. My second nickname being Romano (first being Russia) in my group of friends, whenever I hear someone calling Spain a Pedo, I get really defensive, as he was a great guardian to Romano and doesn't deserve to be called that. I just wanted to thank all of you guys sooo very much for addressing this sensitive matter. Thank you!

It really is tragic that this stuff happens. I mean, a cosplayer just wants to dress up as their favorite character and have fun. To be called something as awful as that, is absolutely horrible. I can't even begin to describe how bad this problem has gotten. Such a serious and sensitive topic is now thrown around like a joke and it's become out of hand. I feel really sad that these people have to put up with this stuff in order to continue doibg what they love. I was genuinly moved to tears when I heard about the France's experiences. :,(

Thank you so much for making this video. I have had some pretty strange experiences in my life time and they were mostly at conventions. And when these cosplayers were throwing the word around in a joking fashion. My friend actually had to tell them to stop. Because it was making both her and I very uncomfortable. Thankfully they did stop shortly after. But it's good to know you guys made this video. And Francis, I am sorry I can't remember your username. You are really strong.

I truly respect you for making this video. It's a serious issue, the fandom is out of control... But I'm glad the are people like you who care. And rape is something that should always be taken seriously, I agree. And the BTT gets such a horrible reputation... But how come nobody hates on Japan for his hentai? And how come nobody hates on Germany for his porn stash? And how come Italy doesn't get hate for flirting with pretty girls all the time? If you actually listen to what Italy says, he says some really perverted things... Plus, I hate how Germany and Prussia are stereotyped as nazis... That was one dark point in history, and is irrelevant here in the cosplay and anime community. My best friend is Prussian and German and I'm Jewish. It really doesn't matter. And plus, Spain is not a pedophile. He is a great father/older brother figure to Romano, who really needed him. And Prussia is not a pervert, when he accidentally groped Hungary, he prayed for forgiveness for his sins. And France is not a rapist. He is a bit flirtatious, nothing else. He lost Jeanne D'Arc, which was hard for him, and it changed him, too... And he even said "Love is something you shouldn't force on others." Right there is proof he isn't a rapist. Also, the BTT act one way, but inside, France is really just broken and wants to be loved, Spain is sad, and Prussia is lonely.

I've been raped before. I've only opened up to my current boyfriend about it, it's taken a lot away from me. I was born with depression and anxiety so when this happened it just increased my self hate. I don't think anyone can sympathise of show enough care to take away any of this pain. it's moking a victim when you joke about it or you mock it. it is not okay, the exsperience still haunts me.

Thank you for making this. I live very close to the town in Ohio where the rape took place. Actually, the victim is still alive, her attackers were joking about her being dead because she had been still for a long period of time. She'll be testifying against them during the court hearings. My biggest fear is that the attackers are just going to get a "slap on the wrists" and that poor girl is going to live in the same area as her attackers while they run around free.

As a France cosplayer, thank you. While I have not had it to the extent that your France has, I have had people try to call me a rapist, or other foul names. In each case I have pulled them aside and explained that what they said was offensive, inappropriate, and false. I think that people in the Hetalia random have desensitised themselves to the word rape, and this is a serious issue because it is a serious issue that should not be taken lightly. Thank you, once again, for this video

Thank you for this video. As someone who is both French and German, and has thus heard a lot about being a rapist, pervert and/or Nazi (despite my relatives from Germany being ethnically Jewish) from "friends" within the fandom (some of whom thought it would be OK to sneak up behind me, grope me and form circles around me while closing in and thrusting their hips at me) this means a lot.

Thank you guys for saying this. Really, you have no idea how happy I am you spoke out about this. I live in an area where sexual assaults occur often. I am quite frightened of traveling long distances by myself due to it.
It makes me absolutely sick that people in the Hetalia community just fling the word around without even considering that it might- okay, will- offend someone. It's very inconsiderate to those who have been affected by the matter.
So thank you Crimson Hour for saying this.

This video was amazing. As a cosplayer in the US I have heard people say things about certain characters. Mainly Spain, France, Prussia, and Germany. As an Austria cosplayer I was once asked if I was a Nazi myself, but the worst story that has happened was to a friend of mine who cosplays Germany. She was screamed at in the middle of a convention by an older woman. Another happened at the mall. My Germany was asked why she was dressed as a Nazi by a man. He then started following us to the car.

I'm lost for words. I'm cosplaying Spain (In the heta-oni vlog) at the moment and I can't image how it feels to be called a pedophile. I wish I could go to every convention and have a lecture of what all hurtful words means and have a lesson in common sense... Please, keep on playing Spain and, if you have the energy, tell everyone who calls you a pedophile what the word means or (better) tell one of the arranger that someone is calling you something horrible. Then the whole district and school pretty much helped and tried to hide evidence. It's really sad that people are willing to let kids get away with horendous crimes just because they play a sport.

I got into cosplay when I had just turned 15. I have come to realize Cosplayers in general are very 'touchy feely', but there is a line you just don't cross. I was inexperienced and didn't know this, so when people groped me, 'huggle-ed' me and even forcefully licked me, I thought that was normal. I was sexually harassed and I didn't even know it.
Once I got into other fandoms and realized that behavior wasn't just what you had to deal with if you cosplayed, I left the Hetalia community.

Thank you for making this. I just recently started cosplaying Prussia and when I tell other Hetalians at school, they just automatically say 'Oh wow, now we're all gonna get raped.' And that's really not cool, especially with me. Cause, not detailed, my past isn't that bright in that department. The others don't know about that, so they don't know how serious it can be. So I keep the ones close to me in check with the whole rape thing. And it's a pretty big issue in the US too.

Although of course there is that trauma of wondering what really happened to you, the horror that you don't remember anything and knowing it happened, while maybe or maybe not getting over that aspect or just not being able to push past it because you don't know exactly what happened.

I think you're all very brave to have made this video and you're absolutely correct. It's not a joke no matter now much some people may use it in jest. I know that if I knew someone that had been raped, I'd be very upset. It is not right and even in the countries that the word comes from (English lass here) I would never want someone to say that to me. It's why makes me apprehensive about cosplaying certain characters like Panty from PSG.

A group of my friends tend to use the word a lot and this makes me realize how much thay use it I don't think want to cosplay with then if that's all thay are going to be saying I am going to try and tell them that thay shouldn't be using the word that way

I know that the bad touch trio are seen as rapists, pedophile and more....but its no where near true. For France, just because he's known to love sex, that does not mean that he's a rapist. I do not think he would have sex without the partner agreeing. Thats not his character. That's not what he's doing. Spain....no, just no. He is not a pedo. And Prussia....many people forget that the first people the Nazi's invaded were their own.
I'm sorry if this comment offended people, I'm not trying to.

Thank you so much for this Video! I saw it on a german community site for cosplayers. I think its true that some Cosplayers, espeacilly the Fandom form Hetalia think its great to use the word rape ... (just read it today on a blog from a hetalia fan). Its awefull and put the word out of its meaning. It is a searius buissness and we need to do something against it.

Thank you for this video. I've had experiences when people have have called me invisible cause i'm canadian. And my friend, she's italian, from the south of italy, she's been called a bitch because of what romano does. Its wrong to. I've seen people call france cosplayers rapists, and its very wrong. Its actually stereotypical really. ILY Crimsonhour and i hope you continue with the videos!

I cosplay as France and my friends I cosplay with call me a rapist. When we aren't cosplaying and I'm with on of them at their house, they call one of the others. say "help me, I'm alone in a house with france." It offends me each time and I think it's terrible. There are times were I've wanted to stop. But I have to remind myself that eventually it will get better. Hopefully, people will eventually stop thinking of France as a rapist. The same goes fr Spain and Prussia, and all the others.

As someone who agrees completely with you guys, I think you should talk to or get in contact with Cosplay is NOT Consent, they are on Facebook and Twitter and see if they can do something and get their message into the cons in Sweden. Maybe they can help!

Thank you, for making this video.
I have had experiences with me cosplaying Spain - being called a pedophile. And concidering my age, and the age of the people who tell me, I feel really offended. Because I am not a pedophile, and neither is Spain.
Even though I love children, it's not THAT kind of love. It's the kind where I just adore them, and think I want one of my own one day. I don't like it when cosplayers call me that at all.
Again, thank you for this video. It made my eyes all blank.

Well what she talked about was similar, but she never actually said anything too specific like I described. There are other cases that sadly can be fairly similar in states like Ohio, for now I can only assume as well that she is talking about the same thing I just want an official confirmation on it. You know what I mean?
And if she is my apologies.

ok crimson hour cosplay i love what you did to this it means the world to me bacause my friend loves france and she feels bad that he is labled as a rapist and stuff like that youpeople just added to my top cosplay group from this. thank you once again

    Excuse you, what?
I honestly doubt they meant it that way, since it's my girlfriend you're talking about and those who call her a rapist, knows that. And honestly, who would call someone a rapist just because of their looks? That makes no sense.
While you might not be very sensitive, others just might. Words can hurt incredibly much, no matter if they're true or not. Raping someone is the worst one can do, and being called a rapist over and over again is not fun, it's offensive.

You guys rock for this video. Too many guys say "rape" casually without thinking about the meaning. Same for "Nazi" (I don't think the same on "pedophile", though). I personally hate those labels given to the BTT; France might hit on Iggy to push his buttons, but he would NEVER rape anyone, and I think he even said so once. And as a Spain cosplayer & Spamano shipper, I know Spain would never do anything to harm ChibiRoma or any other child. Thanks for making this video!

I'm sorry people are calling you a rapist just because you cosplay France. I don't even cosplay France but in my group of friends that is my nickname and one of them no matter how many times I tell her she needs to stop saying it still calls me a rapist just because my nickname is France. It makes me sick and I know how you feel.
And it is not something to joke around about. I have a friend that has been raped and just hearing the word makes him sick.
    Thank you for posting this.

I am sorry that we didn't reach out to you in the way that we wanted. We have information about what a rape is and if there is any other meaning to the word then it is not known for the common person. If there is another meaning then you have to consider that if you call someone a rapist then you have to assume that this person will take it in the worst way possible. You don't have to been sexualy assulted to be effected. I watched the Ohio tape and can without shame say thst I nearly thow up.

One of the examples sounds similar. Where a group of football players called the Rape Crew by other students took an ex girlfriend raped her at different parties then peed on her, they took photos, supposedly did a video of one of the acts and posted about it on facebook. Another guy was talking about it in a video and trying to make jokes like it's funny because he thought she was dead. Which she wasn't.
Is that the same one you were talking about? Or was that just a movie?

I find it quite unsettling that I've actually heard people in my country say it in jest. I know what to do now though. :) and France is no a rapist, he is a lover and would never do anything so horrible. Spain is not a peadophile, he simply gets along with kids like a primary school teacher. And Prussia and Germany are not nazis, they're loyal counties that did why they were told without any choice, even if some people may see it differently.

To France bro: I promise I will make sure that none of your pics have those comments. My friend had me copslay as France once and it was like being punched in the face. Really, cosplaying as the bad touch as I do (depending on meh friends) you get the kick in the stomach with their comments. It is cool to actually find another person who has the same feeling as you yeah. I promise that if anyone does that to a cosplayer I will protect that person. :)

*Claps* Bravo! There was no point in Tenkichan's post. It made no sense and was unnecessary, while making them look like a total jackwade. I still can't believe they said that.
In your reply with rape being the worst thing you can do, I agree it is horrible and I hope I don't come off as being insensitive saying this. But there are also just as worst things that happen to people besides rape, like murder and abuse. Whether physically or mentally, they all take away something from you.
