Accomplished producer Jason Ross returns to Anjunabeats with ‘A Place They Called Home', out now.
Jason made his Anjunabeats debut with ‘Elements’ in 2014. He’s since proven himself to be an explorative and versatile artist, turning his hand from trance to melodic bass, melodic dubstep and more. In 2017, he joined forces with Seven Lions and Paul Meany on ‘Higher Love’, one of our most prolific records to date.
Last year, Jason released his second studio album ‘Atlas’ on Seven Lions’ Ophelia imprint, remixed ARTY & Mat Zo’s legendary Anjunabeats hit ‘Rebound’, and toured across North America. Jason has performed at many of dance music's most prestigious venues, including The Brooklyn Mirage, The Gorge Amphitheatre and Echostage, and graced the stages of festivals such as EDC Las Vegas, Tomorrowland, Nocturnal Wonderland, Dreamstate and more.
Above & Beyond debuted Jason’s latest dancefloor-filler ‘A Place They Called Home' to 20,000 fans at their sold-out Group Therapy 500 celebrations in Los Angeles last October. Once again demonstrating his versatility as a producer, ‘A Place They Called Home' calls back to Jason's trance roots.
"‘A Place They Called Home’, is a tribute to my mom's side of my family, who left their home country, Iran, over 40 years ago. Growing up as a child, I was exposed to their beautiful culture and music; this is one of the reasons behind why I naturally gravitated to more emotionally driven music like trance and progressive. It was so nice to go back to my roots with this song. It’s a more modern approach to my earlier tracks like ‘Atlas’ and ‘Cairo’ while still maintaining that emotional identity." - Jason Ross

Love this Jason Ross sound!! His melodic dubstep is great too but I’m so glad he’s doing more trance. “Atlas” with Wrechiski is still a track I have on repeat

Elements is a banger too - I clearly remember it being dropped by Ilan Bluestone at MoS, everyone (including the people in the booth) were bouncing to it! It remained an etched ID in my mind for a long while until I heard it being played at ABGT milestone episode and was well chuffed to hear it!

I really do miss Jason’s trance tracks. I completely understand that he wanted to try something different and work on a different sound. But his trance stuff for me will always hold a special place in my heart. Atlas, Frontier and Awaken are just a few of my favs. I hope he does more like this new one! Reminds me of his older stuff :)

First breakout is great, the main breakout is typical, boring Jason Ross. He has the same old, same old repetitive and generic sound in all of his tracks. Very outdated and underwhelming.
Yeah, I dug his gravity remix way back. But his trance singles have no interesting rhythm, chords or variation from one track to another to keep them fresh or distinctive from any other trance single he has put out. His Ophelia records all blend together too
that's when you realise that above and beyond are hypocritical, they don't sign new artists because they say people are producing the "same old sound" and that "they are looking for something new and fresh" when their artists are recycling the same stuff over and over.
I like what Anjunabeats have released on their original, Anjunabeats Rising and Anjunadeep labels recently - this is just going 10 steps back to where Anjunabeats shouldn't be. We all love something different and "out there", this is just regurgitated crap from the Jason Ross catalogue of tunes on Anjunabeats in the past.
Yeah, I don't get the massive love-in for this track either.
This track isn't for everything, less for boring guys.😉
