hint hint...f.b. has a fan that is uploading high quality mvs that she has done.
this obviously wasn't her decision, no one single artist "chooses" to delete all their shit and any fan outlet like her website and so on. I wish she wasn't so quiet about it and we had some official interview or something. Eventually I think we will but it might take some time, some years. I did think her image was pumping out a lot of albums at one time. As much as I don't want to see it, Namie's music and image don't feel like a part of her personal essence and while she obviously probably had great moments I see the overworked superstar of it all. And we don't know anything about the true business side of her music. What about contracts and licensing? I think that is the biggest thing. Maybe someone or businesses have a gripe about her personally and they decided to retaliate by taking music away because they can; it simply doesn't make sense although I've heard this happens in japan, at least to other artists too--idk I have not done the research. And maybe she is tired as fuck and doesn't want anything to do with it anymore. Don't know--she's never been the most personal artist.

Come for the Namie retrospective, stay for the waxing poetically about Inuyasha.
I LOVE Namie. "Come" by her, Ayumi Hamasaki's "Dearest" and Do as Infinity's "Fukai Mori" were literally my gateways into J-pop. They turned me into mega Namie and Ayu stans, to the point that I love their music outside of Inuyasha and anime in general. Inuyasha was my gateway FOR SURE.
One thing I will say though, I don't think Namie's music is gone from streaming music platforms in Japan. I think it's just worldwide. I think it was some sort of record label/contract related thing. Also, like unfortunately when you're into J-pop and you happen to like an artist, especially if they're from the 90s and beyond, it's pretty common that their music isn't available on streaming platforms, especially worldwide. It's such a struggle being a J-Pop fan who likes "older" artists and lives outside the country. 😭

You’re so right-being an international fan of older J-pop artists is such a struggle! 😭 I didn’t realize Namie’s music might still be on Japanese streaming platforms, but that totally tracks with regional licensing. Time for a VPN adventure, maybe? Thank you for watching!!

I think this is just another example to buy physical whenever possible. You never know when some greedy suit decides "we're not supporting that anymore". In Namie's case, I'm guessing this has to be a her decision if EVERYTHING got erased. Maybe some shady stuff was going on in the background and Namie put a stop to it? Unless she releases a statement, we'll never know.

I remember entering to Twitter and everyone was collapsing because her music was gone and I was like "oh lord, again, a f-ing gain" because we waited so long for her music to be on streaming platforms just for it to be retired 4 years after.

I love that this was a deep dive for Namie. Well deserved. Well put and definitely put me back in nostalgia. I will argue with anyone. Inuyasha is a HOF-level anime. Haha. Also love that you didn’t just go easy and pick Fukai Mori. Which idc. It’s top 2 most influential anime song ever. Enjoyed. Do more of this series if you can!

Namie absolutely deserves all the deep dives and more. YES, Inuyasha is absolutely Hall of Fame material; I’ll die on that hill with you, no question. 😂 While Fukai Mori is undeniably iconic, the group Do As Infinity doesn't have a ton of controversy.
