Gadsden flag or Moaon Aabe / Molon Labe should be fine for civilians. Those symbols go back before the US military. As long as you're not using an official insignia of a specific regiment no one should have the right to offence, imo. But what do y'all think about wearing one of the branches of the U.S. military? Would this be acceptable as a show of patriotism from a non-service civilian, or no? I can see how that could be a grey area for some.

Sure it is. America is a free country, and you can wear whatever you want. Is it in good taste? All of that is relative. You don't like everything you see someone else wear, but it's not illegal to wear it. That being said... If you pretend to be an official that you are not in order to gain access to certain restricted areas or events then that does break laws, such as impersonating an officer of the law. You can be charged for these offenses and the penalty are quite stiff. People who play airsoft wear all manner of uniforms and patches. So be careful of what you do when you wear it. Disclaimer... If you collect patches and your a proud American you should be able to wear military patches. Now if you were military patches and your telling people your a veteran and especially if your getting veterans benefits in anyway from pedaling to purchase o medical then you have everything that coming to you. Some collectors of military things like to wear what they got. But i also understand the angry veteran.
