Watching Brendon use the veto on Rachel over himself when I was 10 was really formative for me... like genuinely invented romance and set my standards for the rest of my life.
nobody's talking about how Brendon and Rachel truly are the definition of a power couple. Not only are they incredibly competition savvy and extremely strategic but the absolute love that they carry for each other is truly real. No other reality TV couple makes me squee the way these two do and I'm so glad that they're still married to this day :)

I've always suspected this, but Rachel is actually a stronger player without Brendan. She's less prone to acting on her emotions, is more clear-headed/strategic and is better at avoiding drama when Brendan isn't in the house.
I truly believe Danielle was always looking out for Rachel. and I feel like that's why she always came after Brendan. I think Brendan and dick act similarly and she could recognize how Brendan talked down to Rachel just like dick talked down to her.

Man, this season of Big Brother had more twists than an M Night Shyamalan film. Rachel was like a final girl with plot armor that survived a horror movie.

Honestly the fact that she was so ICONIC during this season i think actually saved her. In the Pandora Box i feel like the producers incetivised Porsche so much to pick the box bc rachel was like the only person that season who was actually fun and brought entratenment to the show. Shelly and Adam eere the definition of floaters that were allied with Porch and Kalia being allies. It would have made the show really boring if she left.

I just noticed the weird coincidence that Brendon wins HOH right after his dating partner, Rachel, got evicted in BB12, then in BB13, Daniele wins HOH right after her dating partner, Dominic, got evicted. Power of love and vengeance is strong, folks.
The funniest thing was how hard Bardon celebrated when he saw Adam was the last jury member, that man look like he was wittnessing the second coming of Christ...which maybe really was what he saw with how many miracles happend for Rachel
Say what we will about Rachel’s poor gameplay and the production meddling, but her win was absolutely still iconic. She went from being on top to being a pariah to playing the sort-of middle and outlasting America’s Sweethearts. That said I do think people discredit her win because of the suspicious nature of Pandora’s Box, but I genuinely believe that production was hoping for Jordan to win instead. While it was clear the producers (and the audience) wanted a veteran to win, I believe that Jeff was the clear intended beneficiary until his eviction. Even after that, I believe production would have preferred Jordan win over Rachel. I give Rachel credit for rolling with the many punches she got this season - while she’s by no means a strategic or social genius, she is one of the best competitors and one of the faces of the show.

Jeff, Jordan, and arguably Dick were much more beloved by production (and America) at this point so they were who production would have wanted to win. In all fairness, even without Pandora’s Box, Rachel would have won that Final 6 veto. That keeps Jordan on the block, sure, but Jordan really wasn’t helping Rachel’s game at that point - her relationship with Porsche was what got her further.

Been a Rachel Stan since BB12(when people hated her) and when she won on 13 I couldn’t believe it! Crazy that we haven’t had an all female final 2 since 13. Whenever Shelly voted for her my jaw dropped!
This year 2 women might make the Final 2. I don’t see Kimo or Cam making it, but it was dumb of Rachel to take Porsche, where she almost lost with 3 locked jury votes, with Adam she wins 7-0
I don't think Production specifically tried to help Rachel singularly, but this was definitely a season where Production wanted to ensure a Vet victory. Same with the viewer vote who got to select which evicted House Guest would get the chance to re-enter the house; it was blatant that Brendan was always going to win that. Not going to take away from Rachel reorienting her game in the Jury phase, but this is definitely one of those seasons just like Evil Dick in Season 8 where the winner gets an asterisk next to their name.

@@Captain_Subpar yes it was *aided* a lot but she literally almost won every comp to keep her safe she was literally hanging on by a thread every week to keep herself safe. yes she did *also* shoot herself in the foot with most of her social game moves, but in the end it was kinda crazy she still wasnt evicted
@@Captain_Subpar A lot of things went her way, but there were also PLENTY of setbacks against her. You are free to think of her as a bad player or whatever, but her win was not handed to her on a silver platter. Her run was messy, but the fact the she won despite that is commendable.
bb13 is my guilty pleasure. dani, rachel, kalia, and porsche were such good tv. shelly is such an underrated player, too. that double eviction is a forever favorite!

Oy vey this season is a weird one. No one comes out the season super likable and it’s a season that I would rather pretend never happened. Rachel is an iconic winner who makes great tv, but the amount of factors outside of her control that helped her win is beyond absurd. I loved seeing Rachel on the traitors and seeing how much she has grown up since her BB days, but I also have an appreciation for everything she has added to BB! That being said, I agree with your analysis, Rachel’s win has merit but the twists really did benefit her in huge ways! I think your score is appropriate!
The fact that Rachel was hated by all the newbies (Except for Shelly because she v9ted for Rachel to win) and yet, she won? She was a competition best and she wouldnt have won if Brendon saved her from the veto
Rachel’s bb13 game was so wild, but it made me change my entire perspective about her. I HATED her on bb12 when it first aired, purely because of her personality. It was so cathartic watching Raegan lay into her. I was prepared to hate her again a year later, but her whole game was so spectacular I completely flipped and became a Rachel stan.
Well a valid reason was actually shown during the Jury Table! Shelly claimed that Kalia and Porsche played Dani's game which shows Shelly thought Porsche did not play her own game and went with what her allies wanted.

I loved her side antagonist personality on how she approach people in a rude way, it sets drama and entertainment for the audience (well some that aren't sensitive as some others out there) and is really enjoyable and eye catching for some people
Dick would have made Jordan AND Rachel cry & would’ve gotten into it with Jeff & Brenden bc of that & also bc he would’ve steamrolled the group as the strategist & doing whatever he wanted. I truly think if Dick had stayed, Dani still would’ve defected bc she wanted to prove she could make it to the end without her dad taking her there since he saved her multiple times AND took her to final 2 BUT she wouldn’t have been protected by the golden key & it would’ve become Dani as the leader of the newbies vs Dick w/the rest of the vets & I see it as Dick going after the newbies to prove to Dani he could & her weaponizing their relationship to come crawling back to protect herself just to backstab them all in the end. I think if Dick had been able to stay & didn’t fall for Dani’s crap, he would’ve 100% won again if he had the vets on his side. But regardless it would’ve been a VERY different game.

U gotta remember the golden key twist did prevent Dani from gaining power early in the game so without the golden key it's very likely Dani wins an early HOH & takes out one of the vets (most likely Brendon). I also really see a scenario where a group of Dick, Rachel, Brendon, Jeff, & Jordan would completely coexist with Dick being the leader. I really don't see a situation where Jeff would be fine with Evel Dick being the top dog as I think Jeff & Dick would be bound to clash over leadership & numbers behind them. Considering what an emotional player Rachel is I really couldn't see her staying in line with what Dick wanted as I think Dick-Rachel blowup would be bound to happen. At some point they would have a fight that they wouldn't be able to repair their relationship with each other. I think if Dick stays in the game it would be a game of who could get numbers behind them first between Jeff & Dick as I think Jeff would really be peeling away any support Dick has behind him while at the same time trying to battle a Dani who would have numbers behind her as well. While Dick was able to use his relationship with Dani the first time to his advantage I really don't see Dani being OK with getting 2nd to her dad again as I absolutely believe she would take a shot at Dick if the occasion occurred.

Rachel was the first person I ever stanned lol, I love this video so much! Maturing is realizing her survival benefited from twists, but she did not survive period on twists. You explained so well how her endgame actually relied more heavily on her social play then comp wins, and I had not even realized how she was twist screwed at the beginning until you pointed it out! And yeah she was very lucky…but every bb winner capable of self reflecting will tell you luck plays a huge role in getting to the end and winning in the end!

I had never watched these seasons of Big Brother but I did watch season one of the traitors which Rachel was in. I was surprised at how emotionally she responded to some voting choices people made that season. I had expected a reality TV vet to be a little more understanding of why people did some of the things they did, but I see that she’s just a really truly passionate person. Her journey of winning BB S13 was a whirlwind
14:16 The one thing I remember about this HOH comp is that Rachel was allowed to make an order list of participants. She obviously put the vets at the end which allowed Jeff and Brendon to throw the comp to Jordan. Not that it was a big case of production favouring Rachel, but it was still weird because any other time they would just do a random draw.
Not going to lie, this felt like the most rigged BB there has ever been. Maybe I'm saying that after knowing Porche was forced to use Pandora's box. And Shelly's vote going to Rachel? Jeff blowing up when he knew Rachel was the bigger target? Ever since The two power couples of Brendan/Rachel and Jeff/Jordan, I felt uneasy about it because it all felt rigged from the start for Rachel to win. She was the most popular and combustible competitor this and the season before it. Yet she kept dodging bullets? Danielle continuing to go after Brendan when she hated Rachel? The other black guy (sorry forgot his name) saying he's okay with getting evicted, then facing Brendan to come back on the show? That's far too many coincidences.
When i was about 7 years old i remember watching this season of BB with my family. After this season, we bumped into brendon at a target. I got a photo with him and he asked if i had rooted for rachel and i said yeah and he just hyped her up to me and i remember word for word he called her “a tough cookie.” I didnt understand much happening in the show when i first watched it but after watching this video, 13 years later, i understand it all now
Right! The odds were not in her favor. She was a brat to everyone and too emotional. This was a very rigged season. I think production told Lawon to evict himself. They’re always breaking the rules to reunite Brendan and Rachel.

Ethan, you did a brilliant job with this season! Rachel is in my top 5 of favourite winners and contestants. I’ve been watching BB since season 1 and only missed the season that aired during the first year of Covid. Also, I decided not to watch the current season as the moment they said AI (which I despise) was going to be a factor I was out! Also, watching the earlier seasons of BB I feel they have decreased in quality and contestant choices. I know Rachel is a polarizing winner/houseguest but I just loved her from her first season and was thrilled that she won. I love Rachel Reilly so much but this season was like a “managers favorite” donut, in that production fought like hell to save her everytime. Lawon was def offered money to force him to quit, the votes were rigged for Brendon to be entered into the battle back AND Porsche was forced to enter Pandora’s box… not a good look cbs and big brother. Regardless of production help, her game play was so much more stellar than bb12. Talk about redemption stories! She rly made me proud

I don't think Production specifically tried to help Rachel singularly, but this was definitely a season where Production wanted to ensure a Vet victory. Same with the viewer vote who got to select which evicted House Guest would get the chance to re-enter the house; it was blatant that Brendan was always going to win that.
Not going to take away from Rachel reorienting her game in the Jury phase, but this is definitely one of those seasons just like Evil Dick in Season 8 where the winner gets an asterisk next to their name.
Not as bad as Ian and Jag who were directly saved by twists

@@Captain_Subpar yes it was *aided* a lot but she literally almost won every comp to keep her safe she was literally hanging on by a thread every week to keep herself safe. yes she did *also* shoot herself in the foot with most of her social game moves, but in the end it was kinda crazy she still wasnt evicted
@@Captain_Subpar A lot of things went her way, but there were also PLENTY of setbacks against her. You are free to think of her as a bad player or whatever, but her win was not handed to her on a silver platter. Her run was messy, but the fact the she won despite that is commendable.
bb13 is my guilty pleasure. dani, rachel, kalia, and porsche were such good tv. shelly is such an underrated player, too. that double eviction is a forever favorite!

Oy vey this season is a weird one. No one comes out the season super likable and it’s a season that I would rather pretend never happened. Rachel is an iconic winner who makes great tv, but the amount of factors outside of her control that helped her win is beyond absurd. I loved seeing Rachel on the traitors and seeing how much she has grown up since her BB days, but I also have an appreciation for everything she has added to BB!
That being said, I agree with your analysis, Rachel’s win has merit but the twists really did benefit her in huge ways! I think your score is appropriate!
The fact that Rachel was hated by all the newbies (Except for Shelly because she v9ted for Rachel to win) and yet, she won? She was a competition best and she wouldnt have won if Brendon saved her from the veto

Rachel’s bb13 game was so wild, but it made me change my entire perspective about her. I HATED her on bb12 when it first aired, purely because of her personality. It was so cathartic watching Raegan lay into her. I was prepared to hate her again a year later, but her whole game was so spectacular I completely flipped and became a Rachel stan.
Well a valid reason was actually shown during the Jury Table! Shelly claimed that Kalia and Porsche played Dani's game which shows Shelly thought Porsche did not play her own game and went with what her allies wanted.

There’s literally a 0% chance Rachel was going home that week with or without Lawon’s misunderstanding. …I think the consensus is that production was hoping to rig a Jordan win, and it just didn’t work out that way.

I loved her side antagonist personality on how she approach people in a rude way, it sets drama and entertainment for the audience (well some that aren't sensitive as some others out there) and is really enjoyable and eye catching for some people
I seriously wish Evel Dick was able to stay because a fight between Dick & Rachel wouldve been amazing to witness
Dick would have made Jordan AND Rachel cry & would’ve gotten into it with Jeff & Brenden bc of that & also bc he would’ve steamrolled the group as the strategist & doing whatever he wanted. I truly think if Dick had stayed, Dani still would’ve defected bc she wanted to prove she could make it to the end without her dad taking her there since he saved her multiple times AND took her to final 2 BUT she wouldn’t have been protected by the golden key & it would’ve become Dani as the leader of the newbies vs Dick w/the rest of the vets & I see it as Dick going after the newbies to prove to Dani he could & her weaponizing their relationship to come crawling back to protect herself just to backstab them all in the end. I think if Dick had been able to stay & didn’t fall for Dani’s crap, he would’ve 100% won again if he had the vets on his side. But regardless it would’ve been a VERY different game.

@gamergirl417 I really don't see it playing out that way. U gotta remember the golden key twist did prevent Dani from gaining power early in the game so without the golden key it's very likely Dani wins an early HOH & takes out one of the vets (most likely Brendon). I also really see a scenario where a group of Dick, Rachel, Brendon, Jeff, & Jordan would completely coexist with Dick being the leader. I really don't see a situation where Jeff would be fine with Evel Dick being the top dog as I think Jeff & Dick would be bound to clash over leadership & numbers behind them. Considering what an emotional player Rachel is I really couldn't see her staying in line with what Dick wanted as I think Dick-Rachel blowup would be bound to happen. At some point they would have a fight that they wouldn't be able to repair their relationship with each other. I think if Dick stays in the game it would be a game of who could get numbers behind them first between Jeff & Dick as I think Jeff would really be peeling away any support Dick has behind him while at the same time trying to battle a Dani who would have numbers behind her as well. While Dick was able to use his relationship with Dani the first time to his advantage I really don't see Dani being OK with getting 2nd to her dad again as I absolutely believe she would take a shot at Dick if the occasion occurred.

Rachel was the first person I ever stanned lol, I love this video so much! Maturing is realizing her survival benefited from twists, but she did not survive period on twists. You explained so well how her endgame actually relied more heavily on her social play then comp wins, and I had not even realized how she was twist screwed at the beginning until you pointed it out! And yeah she was very lucky…but every bb winner capable of self reflecting will tell you luck plays a huge role in getting to the end and winning in the end!

I had never watched these seasons of Big Brother but I did watch season one of the traitors which Rachel was in. I was surprised at how emotionally she responded to some voting choices people made that season. I had expected a reality TV vet to be a little more understanding of why people did some of the things they did, but I see that she’s just a really truly passionate person. Her journey of winning BB S13 was a whirlwind

14:16 The one thing I remember about this HOH comp is that Rachel was allowed to make an order list of participants. She obviously put the vets at the end which allowed Jeff and Brendon to throw the comp to Jordan.
Not that it was a big case of production favouring Rachel, but it was still weird because any other time they would just do a random draw.
Not going to lie, this felt like the most rigged BB there has ever been. Maybe I'm saying that after knowing Porche was forced to use Pandora's box. And Shelly's vote going to Rachel? Jeff blowing up when he knew Rachel was the bigger target? Ever since The two power couples of Brendan/Rachel and Jeff/Jordan, I felt uneasy about it because it all felt rigged from the start for Rachel to win. She was the most popular and combustible competitor this and the season before it. Yet she kept dodging bullets? Danielle continuing to go after Brendan when she hated Rachel? The other black guy (sorry forgot his name) saying he's okay with getting evicted, then facing Brendan to come back on the show? That's far too many coincidences.
When i was about 7 years old i remember watching this season of BB with my family. After this season, we bumped into brendon at a target. I got a photo with him and he asked if i had rooted for rachel and i said yeah and he just hyped her up to me and i remember word for word he called her “a tough cookie.” I didnt understand much happening in the show when i first watched it but after watching this video, 13 years later, i understand it all now

Ethan, you did a brilliant job with this season! Rachel is in my top 5 of favourite winners and contestants. I’ve been watching BB since season 1 and only missed the season that aired during the first year of Covid. Also, I decided not to watch the current season as the moment they said AI (which I despise) was going to be a factor I was out! Also, watching the earlier seasons of BB I feel they have decreased in quality and contestant choices. I know Rachel is a polarizing winner/houseguest but I just loved her from her first season and was thrilled that she won. I love Rachel Reilly so much but this season was like a “managers favorite” donut, in that production fought like hell to save her everytime. Lawon was def offered money to force him to quit, the votes were rigged for Brendon to be entered into the battle back AND Porsche was forced to enter Pandora’s box… not a good look cbs and big brother. Regardless of production help, her game play was so much more stellar than bb12. Talk about redemption stories! She rly made me proud
