    the best thing about Studio Ghibli/Miyazaki films is that the character of emotions on everyone is so visceral-he draws emotions the way that the feel when you experience them: tears are huge and cover the eyes, smiles are face splitting, when you're freaked out you feel hair "stand on end" and his characters' hair really does stand up straight like it feels like yours do, when you take a tumble it feels very obvious and huge and he draws tripping/stumbling the same way. It looks the way it feels in reality and that's why you connect so deeply with his characters

      I feel like a great extension to this is the anime adaptation of march comes in like a lion (aka 3-gatsu no lion). Beyond the great directing, it often changes its own art style to convey character emotions. The first episode despite how flawed it might seem has some good examples of this.

      That scene where Haku gives Chihiro the rice ball after all she's been through and she suddenly has the energy to start crying. My god, Miyazaki is a genius. He just gets it, he remember what it's like to be a little kid. All his child characters work so well because they tap into the deep well of nostalgia that we can all relate to. It's otherworldly at times.

Too bad my lust for that delicious bit of history wasn't influenced by some intensely righteous PROPAGANDA. A nation cannot be both Judeo, and Christian. The two are completely opposed at their core. That should tell you everything. Anyway. The movie had some interesting artwork! :)

    3) Howl's Moving Castle: The castle design is iconic and the varying animation on the main character throughout the film is great visual storytelling!
    2) RWBY: I love this show and the reason it gained a lot of popularity is with its fight choreography which would be interesting to analyze (both the current fight choreography and the early fight choreography)
    1) Coraline: Stop motion is a beautiful art form and this film showcases that for me. The subtle changes in expression, the way the world feels both cartoony and real based on the world of the main character. Also the transformation of the Other Mother...is amazing!

    A lot of people were rlly mad about the switching of animation studios of one punch man. Compare the animation from s1 and s2. It seems a lot of people have differing opinions about whether or not the quality of it suffered after the switch but, regardless, I’d love to see what you guys think anyway because the fights in that series were absolute masterpieces in my opinion.

    • @BigFatSammich
      @BigFatSammich 4 ปีที่แล้ว +23

      we’re not really mad about the switch itself. JC Staff actually makes good stuff. It’s just the behind-the-scenes stuff that was the issue. Their scheduling was TERRIBLE for this show so that resulted in poor overall quality. Even the sound effects were bad because it was mostly the same 2 kinds of sounds for every fight.

      @chrism45 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    • @aus-li
      @aus-li 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Chris M I didn’t see any “worse”. Obviously people who are talking bad about season 2 don’t know anything about animation and different studios who work on those animations. The only difference is that Madhouse is one of the best studios in Japan when it comes to animation...that’s it.
      OPM season 2 is done by J.C.Staff, who have done many great anime shows themselves. It’s ridiculous how many uneducated individuals keep repeating the same nonsense. I’m a fan of both studios and they still have my respect, nonetheless.

    We need some examples of bad animation!
    All I can think of is the superhero cartoons from the 60s (The Marvel Super Heroes especially, but the Spider-Man one isn't that great either) It's worth noting that a lot of the bad animation was done to save money, but it was still pretty bad nonetheless. In fact, The Marvel Super Heroes was just one giant cash-grab: every single shot is actually just a bunch of static images stitched together from comic books, with a few of the limbs moved once in a while to "animate" it.
    On the other end of the spectrum, the Superman cartoon from the 40s looks so spectacular, you'd think it was made in the modern day! Definitely one to examine!

    Castlevania’s fight scenes tend to blow me away, simply because I can follow the action even though it’s paced incredibly fast.
    There’s also many scenes from any anime that ufotable has done, from the Fate series to Demon Slayer that really makes action scenes absolutely beautiful.
    There’s also the explosions found within anime that can be so amazing. While explosions in animation can be considered “simple”, are incredibly overlooked can really add to the spectacle in many scenes.

    • @paulmark2629
      @paulmark2629 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      The process is quite similar but vastly different in some areas. For example,Japanese animes used fewer frames when animating coz it's cheaper, if you look closely Disney or Western animation have this smooth kinda fluid-like motion to them, japanese animes however have a certain snap on their movements. They also used still drawings sometimes, or to simulate certain type of trembling animation, they would make 3-4 copies of the same drawing (Coz you can't make them looked exactly alike) Western animations however, rarely used still drawings or not at all.

    • @4ever3052pac
      @4ever3052pac 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Paul Mark The fewer frames were more often for shows and smaller projects. Likewise alot of time these anime projects are attempting to replicate the original manga artist style, since a fair amount pf anime is based on manga. So because of that, the animation, unless it has a large budget like akira, it’s difficult to do extremely fluid animation.

    I am not kidding when I say I cried when I saw Spiderverse in theaters. Not at the emotional beats, just the animation itself. I was just so relieved that Hollywood still knew how to make something unique at that point. Even if it was adapted from comics, the combination of CG and 2D details on the faces and such surprised me, not to mention the text effects. The last time I was so entertained by text on a screen was the original Zombieland. I bawled my eyes out during "What's Up Danger". After watching the film a billion times and finding out about the Doc Oc escape scene and how Miles was animated at a lower fps than Peter Parker, that little detail cemented the film's spot as not only my favorite animated picture but one of my fav pictures period. I could gush about it forever (and I have written many a essay on the film for various classes).

      And to you, my brave volunteer, who somehow found this job listing not intended for you, although there was a way out planned for you, I have a feeling that's not what you want. I have a feeling that you are right where you want to be. I am remaining as well. I am nearby. This place will not be remembered and the memory of everything that started this can finally begin to fade away, as the agony of every tragedy should. And to you monsters trapped in the corridors, be still, and give up your spirits. They don't belong to you. For most of you, I believe there is peace and perhaps more waiting for you after the smoke clears. Although for one of you, the darkest pit of hell has opened to swallow you whole, so don't keep the devil waiting old friend.
      My daughter, if you can hear me, I knew you would return as well. It's in your nature to protect the innocent. I'm sorry that on that day, the day you were shut out and left to die, no one was there to lift you up into their arms, the way you lifted others into yours. And then, what became of you? I should have known you wouldn't be contempt to just disappear, not my daughter. I couldn't save you then, so let me save you now.
      It's time to rest. For you, and those you have carried in your arms. This ends, for all of us. End communication.

    Would you Guys consider talking about "The Animatrix" .
    Since they have multiple Short Stories with each having its own Style it would be cool to compare them and show the differences between them.
    Every Style fits perfectlyto the Story they telling and the Characters playing in them.
    I loved how different they were and couldnt wait what Style the next Short Story would have.
