It would be awesome if you had extra links to all the products that you use to make our lives easier
Another great teaching video, thanks!
Wire strippers would make your life a lot easier!
Very nice but I would like to update all of the speakers to highes quality possible without altering the car at all. What speakers would you recommend 🤔
Been looking for a vid like this, thanks! I honestly didnt want to get too invasive with my panda so this is fantastic. The JBL upgrade kinda is lacking pretty bad imo did you keep the other speakers stock?
Thank you! I agree, the stock JBL system just needed a little help. At this time all the other speakers are still stock. Since they aren't having to handle the heavy bass anymore, they are much happier.
Could you not use one of those tube crip connectors
Nice. Do u know what volyme you headunit distorsion? How did u set the gain on amp.
I don't know the exact number, but you can turn it up pretty darn loud before you get any distortion. The sub actually helps get a good bit more volume out of the system before the original speakers start to max out because you don't have to run as much base through the smaller speakers. We tuned the sub amp with everything flat on the head unit eq.
This amp is set up as follows:
Gain: one tick past halfway between min/max
Low pass filter: right around 180hz
Bass eq: 10db
Your results/tastes may vary. Hope this helps.
Those plastic fuse housings suck they are brittle and break very easy, I ended up 3D printing using ABS
Where did you tap into for power? For amp to turn on and off?
The amp we used did not need a turn on wire. It has a cool feature where it automatically powers up once it gets an input signal through the RCA cables.
I'm just using an LOC that creates the on/off signal, not sure what else to use. I don't have the wiring diagram on hand but if you can find an ACC power line by the amp I believe that should work too.
This is an absolutely atrocious way to tap audio wires for RCA output. DO NOT DO THIS!!!!. They make a simple PLUG and PLAY adapter for crying out loud
How can I find one of those plug play adapters for this car? I’m new to car audio and I honestly don’t know where or how to look for this stuff 😂
There is so much useless space under boot floor mat, suby would be a cleaner fit with deadening and secure best as possible and boot space not comprised.
Good resource! Just did a full stereo build in my GR so it's nice to see people posting their solutions to a very sub-par audio system. Tip: should just disconnect the neg bat terminal instead of worrying about bumping a hot wire. Takes 5 seconds. Really should be done for any audio work.
