I deal with a bunch of homeless people. The poorest of poor. I always try to buy them a meal or give them some money or warm clothes but most important. I treat them with dignity and kindness. I will give them my shirt off my back and get to share in their true appreciation. And then you got those who demand and expect and manipulate. You learn to tell those people to piss off. I have nothing for you. Not my time, my money, my empathy. They act so surprised and throw a tantrum and I just walk away. People who are humble will listen with gratitude. Greedy people are to busy manipulating to hear you. Wisdom can only be learned by those who truly seek it. Those who grab on to it and put it into action and learn and embrace their failure and grow from it. You can only be a light for those who wish to see. Darkness is all around for all of us. Be the light with a smile. A kind word. A warm cup of coffee on a cold day. Check in on someone who is lonely. Kindness is a gift of love that’s free.
