Manhunt Soundtrack - 8 - Grounds For Assault

- Track 8 of the amazing soundtrack to Manhunt, Rockstar's infamous game. In my opinion, it's a masterpiece of darkwave/electronic/ambient music, reminiscent of classic John Carpenter soundtracks such as Assault on Precinct 13.
All tracks composed by Craig Conner.

Playing on hardcore with 4 guys in ghillie suits chasing you with machetes and a tranquilizer dart stuck in your back with this theme playing = the meaning of stress
I've been through that trying to get 5 stars.
@@LITTLE1994 good luck.
@@eugeniaamariei8626 I think they have already done this
@@MyNames_55 Oh. I didn't read it carefully. Whoops.
MH is the first game of it's kind. A horror-based game with no zombies, demons or supernatural entities....Just sick human beings in a frightening real-world scenario that could take place anywhere on earth.
Similar to the film hard target with van dammewhere people are hunted for sick plesaure
yeap. gotta say that monsters, zombies n all that bores me pretty quick.
But... sick human beings? that's fucking terrifying. You know it's real.
@@SStealth14 Yeah you're right. Nowadays I try to imagine a third part of such a game with modern graphics. World medias would went absolutely nuts.
exactly! I could only play this game for about 2 hours at a time. The intensity was too much! IT had a great shadow mechanic... allowing for some fantastic stealth takedowns!
And that’s why it’s so scary... monsters aren’t what humans should fear
0:00 - (Yellow Arrow) Idle
4:28 - (Orange Arrow) Suspicious
5:59 - (Red Arrow) Spotted from a long distance
7:29 - (Red Arrow) Spotted from a short distance
Oh, so my theory about the short and long distance changing music was right, Cool!
@@MrNasty-vh2lk My theory has always been that the first red theme plays when you're spotted, and then the 2nd one plays whenever you're actually in combat with hunters.
@@aBrainParasite Nope, it's depending on the distance. I confirmed it myself while playing.
@@MrNasty-vh2lk he's right, the second theme is combat music
@@mobley33 the second theme is suspicious theme, the third is spotted and the fourth is combat.
The soundtrack of this game is a masterpiece. This level soundtrack is one of my favorites.
Kill or be killed..
Hasn't been done again.
kill or be killed? thats this whole freakin game
You hit it right on the head. That's why Manhunt is so scary: it could plausibly happen just about anywhere.
Mexico and Brazil, happens all the time.
@@user-yg7vm7iv9z in Argentina is the same thing, there are many cases of insecurity and drug trafficking
are many which make the city a jungle In addition to the fact that the authorities do nothing.
@@facundomendoza5879 That's a very prominent problem in Latin America, unfortunately. Corruption, violence, drugs and all that stuff. I wish i could live somewhere else in the world.
The chase theme for this is possibly the scariest one in the game in my opinion.
On the other hand, Fuelled by hate is the scariest idle theme imo.
Yes, Along with Deliverance and Road to Ruin ones. Even Key Personnel, i think it's one of the scariests also.
@@jasonvoorhees4236 wouldn't YOU know alot about scariness, Mr Voorhees?
@@Smiley0.1 🤣
@@Smiley0.1 heheheh both maniacs talking about who knows true horror
Definitely one of my favorite horror ambient tracks ever in a video game. I can't get enough of how the ominous and eerily barren sounds gradually builds into an adrenaline-pumped beat. I think the Wardogs have some of the scariest themes in the game. It kinda helps establish them as the first group of hunters that actually pose a threat, since they always hunt in groups and seem to be more effective at spotting you than the Hoods or the Skinz.
steamedrice97 if you played FEAR it comes very close to this
It has an ambient scream that was also used in Half-Life 2
Strapping young lad fan! I hope by some miracle you see this comment.
@@butterdogestarwars6709 In Max Payne the flesh of fallen angels soundtrack it has the citadel ambient scream aswell.
5 years late I know but I like this comment, so replied.....
What makes it more scary is they are nothing but soldiers for hire and are ofcourse, with their training in the military, they employ tactics that are more organized than your average psychotic gang while equipped with state of the art military issued weaponry. Makes you wonder, even soldiers would go through only to earn some quick cash.
They need to remake this. I didn't knew about this game until a few weeks ago and I think its Rockstars greatest games.
BowsyMcJr they did its available in the psn store for like $10
Brandon Mendoza He means actually make a Manhunt game with their modern presentations.
Though, with this, I dunno how much they'd get away with in terms of violence since people that don't play it nor would let their kids play it wouldn't allow it.
Terminal Creature Very True. Even though if Rockstar does make a Manhunt 3 there is countries who will still ban it either way but with todays graphics it can be assured it will be a great game
+Brandon Mendoza There's always a way, and you have to understand that today's generation of parents aren't like before, society is more open to this kind of subjects, people loves to see blood and gore nowadays. Twisted society though, I don't like it, you just need to see the kind of stuff that's online these days. I think if Rockstar would like to get away with a Manhunt 3 game, first they need to write a good plot, second try to make it look more like the GTA propaganda spreading, it's a game even if it has mutilation, rapes, decapitations child porn or whatever twisted crap fucked ups do these days it keeps being a game. Just like the movies, I've seen a lot of fucked up movies like A Serbian Film, Faces of Death or Salo, I mean there's a lot of content to work on ideas for the games plot shit I even wrote one a long time ago. It could be a masterpiece and even a best-selling if they add online to the game, just imagine matches where you must play hide and seek with other players
But about the success, it's pretty much a fact that if there was a Manhunt 3, there wouldn't be a hit or miss. It'd do pretty damn well because of the title alone. One of the most controversial game of the 2000s is getting another game? People will jump on that. Problem is whether it'd get censored by the mobs or not. Manhunt 2 got censored to hell, banned and removed from stores when it came by.
It's like people remembered Manhunt 1 and said 'Nuh uh, we ain't doin' that again' and closed their ports. Hatred was a bit of a silly game with the only realistic thing about it being the rambling the people will say. If that alone can get it removed from Steam and get rated AO, imagine what realistic reactions, violence and possible scenarios, if they want to go 80s slasher film like Manhunt 1, would do.
One of my favorite levels due to this soundtrack. It's like a child's nightmare, being chased by bad men in a creepy abandoned zoo.
that freaking spongebob meme brought me here

I really love this soundtrack, sounds like a John Carpenter movie
Was just thinking the same thing
almost every song from mh ost sounds like its straight out of a john carpenter movie
@@NubSwitch all the more reason to love it. Almost makes me think James Earl Cash is variant of Michael Myers that could talk and joined a mob
The composer actually took a lot of inspiration from carpenter to make this game's ost
@@stpeun2855 That's really cool
This is extremely reminiscent to the sountrack from Silent Hill 2, particularly to the Historical Society level. remains me to that long hallway that makes some weird echo-like noises. What great and tense atmosphere these games had...
Wish someone today would buy an 80’s camera and make a film about this.
That would be amazing! If they kept the original story, no drama, no silly modern stuff, clichés and snowflake stuff, that would one of the best slashers type movie.

"Search & Destroy! YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE-HAAWWW!!!!!!!!!!"
"TRAGET AQUIRED! I HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAW!!!!!!"
I agree! What especially makes it disturbing is that the sound is so slight and subtle....but just present enough to be so damn unsettling. Like you're walking in a dark alley and you feel somebody following you, but you can't see them.
"Don't rub me man! I just got cable!"
7:29 IT'S A WAR DAWG HOEDOWN!!
This song is my favorite of the Manhunt soundtrack because it serves to remind you that YOU are the serial killer -- YOU ARE THE BAD GUY.
hy davis spot on
Cash is actually a angel compared to other hunter gangs.
Not really, you're forced to kill in order to progress and eventually escape. Also, keep in mind that most enemies are psychopaths
Everyone is the bad guy in Manhunt. The only good character is the reporter, and that's only because we don't know much about her.
@@Slonitram There's an audio file that shows that she went insane after Deliverance and is in some asylum
7:28 when you walk down stairs in the middle of night to make some 𝚙𝚒𝚣𝚣𝚊 𝚛𝚘𝚕𝚕𝚜 but you forget to open the microwave before the beep goes off, alerting and waking up your strict parents. You must now run before they find a disobedient child who’s up so late making food.
Relatable lmao!
It's crazy that this level, first time seeing the Wardogs, the retired military mercenaries, you fight them in an ABANDONED ZOO.
Kind of makes sense, given they're military men and retired soldiers, I think, they Abandoned Zoo certainly does fit with their over all character.
7:29 you got hit by traq dart and two wardogs are charging you and you run like hell trying to survive
You have no other choice but to run the hell outta wherever you are! You know your scared so ruun!
Don't forget that they're running with razor sharp machetes screaming while your stamina bar is almost 0.
I would love a Manhunt 3. :D
Not gonna happen but damn it would be fun
Yo, anyone else think think this theme might be fitting for a cannibal gang? That would be a pretty cool concept in a manhunt game.
Those mexican cults have been known to do that kind of shit
Cómo para que hagan una película del cómic de crossed y pongan estos soundtracks
Hands down one of the scariest game soundtracks i’ve heard
I like how the combat theme has the same alarm sound as kill the rabbit
Wardogs are so ruthless, violent and in the mood to hunt their pray! I like the Wardogs!
They have are the hunting the hunt, they are wild vicious animals, always want to be feared by the most notorious gangs, these men are not to be messed with!
I love the brass and how it sounds like an elephant. Very animalistic and eerie
I recently noticed that the high-pitched string sounds from 6:00 sound just like that of "The Electrician" by The Walker Brothers. :O
That game had such an morbid vibe to it
Always found it odd how the War-Dogs are military types but the only firearms they use are tranquilizers...
actually they also use revolvers
EDIT: I spelled "actually" wrong
They use tranquilizer guns and revolvers in their first two stages, but in "Divided They Fall", they use pump shotguns and a few use sniper rifles.
Yeah if you ask me, they should have saved the wardogs for later missions. These people are supposed to be militia(though in real life, the militia would never take part-their constitutionalist). But they would be coming at you with guns, AR-15's, all kinds of shit. It would have fit if they came before or right after the cops.
GinnieDefender *I defend Ginnie from bullies I actually read that story recently
Actually, they use revolvers in Strapped for Cash, and a lot of Shotguns in Divided they Fall.
Carcer is based on several rundown cities including Detroit, Camden, and parts of Philly.
I wonder if shit really that bad down there with streets blocked by rubble and Shit
@The Dracobirthstonian racial to my boy
And you know what is worse? Being a mexican living at Detroit in real life
Kinda makes sense now, i didn't know it was based on Detroit as well
Manhunt is a great kinda remimds a lot of Latin america, specially Mexico and Brazil.
Hey CockMyRasbah,
THANK YOU for uploading this!! It's about time the MH tracks were uploaded with ALL sections of each track, including alert and panic mode.
One of the creepiest soundtracks ever.
God damn 7:29 is so extremely tasty. Reminds me of some Salem tracks

*Slendybob shows up behind child*
It is fitting for the scene. A step-up in experience from the hunter side. Each move and step needs to be carefully calculated before being executed. You need to keep your eyes sharp as to not walk on the baited chainlink fence laid to lure you into the sniper's crosshairs.
How to prevent bullying.

'This is as easy as gunning down a water buffalo!'
Yes, it is epic and very original.
Can't say i blame them, a Manhunt game with current gen graphics will surely get banned almost instantly. Why i seriously doubt there will ever be a new Manhunt.
5:59 *_SEARCH AND DESTROY YEEEHAWWW!!!_*
Parents training their kids to ''how to deal with bullies''.
Easily one of my favorites
this is the them for my own halloween party every year
Very Shining-esque
A very under the gun game, yet it was so epic there was one one sequel, that's what makes this a great game :3
The only lack of these soundtracks almost total absence of snare drums. It would be kickass!
I love this soundtrack. I love the rhythm that starts around 6:15. It kind of charges me up when hunting down the wardogs. :D Crazy game, but I wish the politicians would quit sticking their nose in Rockstar's business. It's their game they can do what they want with it. Some people may not approve of the content but that's why our awesome ESRB system creates ratings. :D
it honestly doesnt matter. he was obviously a mature kid it all depends on the child. if the child is really impressionable and has issues then thats a different story, me as a kid i knew what was right and wrong so simple things like a video game didnt effect my way of thinking. so think before you judge next time
Thank You for uploading the track, how did you get the full track?
Best song off the game in the stealth mode and the chase mode
I can see Snake Plissken from Escape from New York running from something with this soundtrack
Manhunt is very close to idea of a movie Escape from New York
Never played this game with the lights off. I was a 7th grader when I got this game and I remember the intro to this level freaked me out. Just how dark, isolated and hopeless the zoo looked in the cutscene scared the shit outta me lol
Damm it, i played with the lights off the other day when im Alone in My house jajajaja it's a badass experience
this music is my favorite
