My teacher recommended this video because we are having trouble with the br 600. We thought it was the carburetor but that might not be the case so we are going to check the valves
@@RJLgardens Just need to thank you for yr video. The parts I fitted sorted the starting/running issues, but getting the valve kit and resetting them has transformed the engine. It's quieter, smoother and purrs like new. Many thanks again. No need reply.
Well done, sir! One suggestion: when you are adjusting the valves we can't see how much turn you are putting on the screws each time. It would be helpful if you said "eighth turn" or "quarter turn" to let us know the size of the increments. Anyway, thanks much!
To make your own its easier if to just cut a 45-degree angle at the top of your feeler gauge, you just need a small point at the top of the feeler gauge to fit into the valve section. It doesn't need to have the rounded tip at the top of the gauge unless you want it to look the same. Just trying to save you a couple of dollars.
Great great video my friend!
I have the br 600 and finally did this today. Worked out fantastic. Once again, thank you. Saved me 200 bucks!!
Great to hear 👍
$200 to adjust valves? Im a mechanic on small engine stuff and im shocked at that.
@@thechum9653 $22 at the Stihl dealer/mechanic
Good idea to check the clearance again after you have adjusted them!
Yep absolutely agree, did i not mention that in the video?
@@RJLgardens You did - I was just saying that it was a good idea that I hadn't thought of before so Thank You!
@@geomark8851 Oh right 😂, nice 1. Thought I'd forgotten to mention it. 👍
Thanks mate, I’ve just done this on my 600 and that helped a lot, cheers and happy new year.
Nice one, all the best 👍

👍 yep worth checking.
@@RJLgardens IT was the valves
Nice one 👍
Brilliant video mate, I've ordered service kit, new coil and valve kit as my BR 500s playing up despite cleaning carb, cheers.
Nice one, good luck with it 👍

Fair play mate, you really put some time into looking after your kit👌
👍I'd be skint if i had to take all my kit to a shop for maintenance 😅
@@RJLgardens you're right there😅
Amazing detail, thank you so much!
No problem 👍

Thanks, Its hard to give any specific turns as every engine will need different amounts, its very miniscule turns though. 👍
Thank you so much! Well done!
👍
Hello, what kind of benzene do you use with this machine? Thank you.
Thanks my local Stihl dealer wanted $150.00 to do this adjustment. They said the whole blower needed to come apart. B.S
Really? is that the going rate these days, blimey that seems steep. Im glad i do my own now 😅
Sounds like a rip off to me.

Yeh its not that critical i know, think i would still prefer the shape of the cut off edges though 😅.
Would this fix a Br600 with low compression? I pull on the starter and feel no resistance
Could be a number of issues, worthwhile checking the valves though.
I cut the plastic cover above the spark plug to save time with the wires
Not necessary, one valve is open, other is closed. Easy...
Only easy when you know what your doing, this is the way beginners should do it, less chance of cocking something up 😅
