  • Deela is a difficult to control weed. If it grows to a certain level and increases its population in the field, then it becomes almost impossible to get rid of it completely. In the video, I have recommended a special treatment of this herb to control it for a longer period of time. During mid of June, in an empty filed that has a lot of deela seed available in it, irrigate it and give the chance to deela to grow properly alone without a crop. When some of the herb plants grow to the flowering stage of their life span, then use Round up herbicide to effectively control deela. Round up has the ability to penetrate deep into the roots to eradicate it properly from under the ground. In this way, we can get rid of this weed from our field. Otherwise in combination of a crop, it is not possible to control it effectively and efficiently for a long period of time.
Deela is one of the most hard to control weeds. If it is not controlled in time, it becomes very difficult to control. Proper use of herbicide is required for its control. In case of severe infestation it is not effectively controlled by the commonly used herbicides (different formulations of atrazine plus mesotrione). We have researched that halosulfuron in single or mixed formulations really controls nut sedge effectively but it induces hidden stress on root growth and development which results into reduction in production and yield of crop.
Cyperus rotundus or purple nut sedge is an important weed of autumn maize crop. In case of severe infestation it is not effectively controlled by the commonly used herbicides (different formulations of atrazine plus mesotrione). Halosulfuron (Halt AGPharma or Volantis FMC) kill it effectively and single or mixed formulations of the same are commonly suggested for this purpose. We have researched that halosulfuron in single or mixed formulations really controls nut sedge effectively but it induces hidden stress on root growth and development which results into reduction in fodder and grain yield of maize crop. That is why, it can not freely be suggested for the control of purple nutsedge from maize crop. Repeated application of any formulation of atrazine plus mesotrione may be preferred as alternate solution.
