I can't imagine why anybody would want their first time to be in the same house their parents were sleeping in at the time. Even a teen living at home could arrange a weekend trip somewhere private.
My first time was with my husband when we were dating. I just turned 22 and he was almost 22. We couldn't afford our own place until we got married and my parents would not let us live together before marriage. So we use to hang out in my basement rec room and after my parents went to bed way upstairs we would have our time very quietly. I'm sure my parents knew what we were doing, but they never walked in or said anything except the wedding would just be the court house if I got pregnant. I know it killed them, but they really liked him and didn't want to run him off. I just played it off as if we were waiting until marriage. They had to know it was a lie. So you do what you have to when you're in love and have nowhere else to go because you can't get away with it or afford it.
It's terrible they had a storyline like this! We NEVER saw things like this when I was growing up in the 60s. Watching Petticoat Junction, for example, the Bradley sisters were all nice and wholesome. Betty Jo and Steve got MARRIED. No teen "first time". No wonder young people today think it's okay to do this before they are married.

If girls got pregnant back then, they would ship the mother and child away or make the mother give the baby up for adoption, and there was a lot of trauma associated with those beliefs. They had a "what will the neighbors say" type of mentality, but guess what? The neighbors were too busy hiding their own skeletons in the closet to care. I rather not put my head in the sand and hold my kids to a standard that I, myself, would be unable to meet. I rather maintain open communication with my kids. It doesn't mean I condone it. It just means I have more realistic expectations. I could never have talked to my mother openly about sex with my then boyfriend, before I was married. She made sex so dirty and taboo, and judged all my friends that were having premarital sex when she herself was just as guilty. That generation was effing crazy!

Its not an 80's pop rock song. As you pointed out yourself CBS replaced the original songs with crappy one for the dvd release. Because they didnt own the rights to the original songs and probably didnt wanna pay for them. And CBS has always been cheap. The show was shot on a shoestring budget, according to Jason Priestley, who directed several episodes as well as episodes of the horrible remake. On the remake they had all the toys, but couldnt get it right. Again according to Priestley. They even shot the original show far away from Beverly Hills, but still in California. On a lot filled with rats. According to Priestley. Notice how many times they used the building thats suppose to be the back entrance to the Peach Pitt? And later the After Dark club. They even used the same building for the club where Emily Valentine slips Euophoria into Brandons soda. Im guessing the club where Brandon was drugged was shot on the same lot as the Walsh house and Dylans house etc. The only location that was real was Torrance High School aka West Beverly High and the place that was used for the fictuous California University. This is probably also why the show has never been remastered to bluray. And probably why they barely edit out the commercial breaks on the late seasons. Because CBS are so cheap.
How calmly the parents reacted to this, and in the case of Brenda and Dylan, there was a scandal, although you can understand them, when they saw the box with the pregnancy test, it was not very calm there, she was only 16.
