      @Daniel Swick hey Daniel, the problem is not a lack of good reformed pasters and theologians or that they teach something different. It comes down to the journey of my life. I started out as a Wesleyan Arminian and in 2016 I plucked the fruits of a prior discovery, namely Presuppositional apologetics, which by Gods grace lead me to Reformed theology. The other factor is that Afrikaans Reformed theologians and Pastors are not nearly as public and on social media as the Americans are. Consiquently it was due to Paul Washers surmons and John McAuthors study Bible that laid the first seeds, even before I studied Arminian theology.
      The term "boer calvinist" doesnt make any more sense than what it would if I asked you what the Puritan Calvinists believe in America. My point being its an era that is gone.
      So as far as my knowledge goes even the solid sound Reformed churches in SA are either a branch of Grace to you (mostly) or they are somehow conected to a Reformed body in the USA. The Dutch Reformed Church in SA is no more Reformed than the Methodists are.
      99% of our Reformed literature is not from SA writers.
      Laslty, I would mention that evem though I am Afrikaans due to being howeschooled I developed an English thinking mind. I grew evem more in fluency when the Lord challenged me to abandon an old "boer" mortality of "I dont speak English". He did so because a few years later I was called into missions and could with eas communicate with my brothers and sisters in Christ in several African countries.
      I would love to meet more Reformed pastors and theologians in SA but they are few. Or maybe its like Count of Montecrusto said "you should het out more" :-D.
      Oh and I have NEVER heard a pastor or theologian in SA expound scripture like Steven Lawson. He feeds my soul with the true substance of scripture and I can not thank God enough for such an opportunity grow in knowledge of the truth. Ones I BELIEBED that by faith I am sanctified but now I KNOW that it is by knowing and growing in knowledge of God/Truth that I am sanctified. May our Lord Jesus bless us with more Bible expounding, sola five doctrines of grace spiritfilled preachers. We need the truth. We need the Gospel known in its original meaning and not this other stuff we are being fed as truth but are nothing more than doctrines of demons and peoples own interpretation scripture.

      Seriously?!? And what of all those Souls prior to Monk Martin Luther leaving The Church? 1500 + years post-Crucifixion and then all those from Eden to The Crucifixion? All the Souls never touched by Judeo-Christian philosophies?
      The "infamous stand," albeit somewhat needed, was calling out certain corrupt clergy and practices. The rest of Luther's narcissistic ravings morphed into The Protestant Revolt. Are you aware of how many "non-Lutheran" souls perished by refusing to participate? Please do some non-biased research on this man.

      @Norman Fisk DEFINE FAITH THEN.
      FAITH MEANS TO BELIEVE.

    • @andrewholt2425
      @andrewholt2425 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Norman Fisk understand words and language difference.
      If you are writing something down that explains something the definition of the words conveys the understanding of the word. Words matter, but understanding matters more.

    • @andrewholt2425
      @andrewholt2425 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Norman Fisk statement: “The just shall live by faith, the righteous one shall live by faith.” That first is laid out in Scripture back in the prophet Habakkuk chapter 2, verse 4. It is repeated again by Paul in Romans and in Galatians. And here it appears again in the book of Hebrews. And we understand that: “The just shall live by faith.” Salvation is by faith and faith alone.
      false forms of Christianity are based on satanically-twisted Scripture. The Bible is clear, Ephesians 2:8 and 9, “For by grace are you saved through faith,” - right? - “not of yourselves, it is a gift of God; not of works, lest anyone should boast.” Romans chapter 3, again and again. We’re not saved by works, we’re saved by grace through faith, Romans chapter 4. Again in Romans chapter 10, Romans chapter 11, 1 Corinthians 1, and all through Scripture, salvation is by faith.
      they were warned in chapter 2, they were warned in chapter 4, they were warned in chapter 6, and here for the fourth time in chapter 10, the severe warning back in verse 29, and another warning at the end of the chapter. Faith is the only way to God. Come to Christ by faith.
      Faith and belief are two sides of the same coin. There are at least four Greek words for faith, and the one most commonly used is pisteuo, which means persuasion. The root word is peitho, which means to convince. The word belief in Greek is pistis, which means confidence or trust.
      Different languages have different words... Understanding their use makes you fluent.
      Able to find the word that shows the exact understanding of the other languages word.
      Replace all the faith words with the Greek... And it doesn't change the understanding of the content.

      @centurion ~ Hmmm ~~~ John Calvin ~ Wasn't he the one who promulgated the notion of Pre-Destination? As in, your soul was already sorted out, so to speak, before you were even a twinkle in your daddy's eye, as to what your eternal destiny, or fate, was to be, and there is nothing you can do to change it...

      words in and with understanding are understood , to believe and belief, faith , faithfulness, hope, it means to believe in to put trust in to act upon that trust ... In knowing. The understanding of and in is believed by the reader and spoken to, and of the listener to and of the hearer, and to and of the reader.
      cant you understand. It means to and of a constant will to move in belief , of, in, acting upon in constant will , that's why it's an action.

    If there is one other religion that respects the “word” rather than what the current generation of “interpreters” might think it rightfully was, it is Sikhism where after 10 Gurus, they designated “Granth Sahib” as their sole & infallible authority over any living human being who may instead have choosen to do so as per what the convenience of the day chose to dictate. Smart move by the Gurus!

    7. God is infinitely Wise, always knows what is best, always adopts means which will best accomplish His purpose; that is Wisdom.
    For Wisdom is the art of turning to best account our knowledge.

Jesus left us a church that would safeguard the faithful transmission of Jesus teachings about faith, morals and the understanding of Sacred Scriptures to the coming generations based of the understanding of the Apostles, The Apostles maybe gone already but they still have a say to the teachings of Christ.

    The Son of God is and always was Divine. He is the express image of the Father.
    There have been errors and heresies in the Church in the past ages.

    For there is ONE Person of the Father, another of the Son, and another of the Holy Spirit; but the Godhead of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit is ONE God.

    *Moral Attributes*
    10. Righteousness and Justice are Divine Perfections.
    It is Holiness exhibited in Government.
    Truth or Faithfulness of God is much the same as His Righteousness. All He says and does is true.
    His Veracity is an Element of His Character. God cannot lie.
    As God is Eternal, His Truth remains the same.
    Whatever is out of harmony with His revealed Truth, the same is a lie.
    To the question, "What is Truth?" This answer, which WE repeat in Heaven is true: "To know God, as He has revealed Himself to people, is Truth of the highest order."
    Our Lord declared: "I am the Way, the Truth and the Life." All things taught or believed that are out of harmony with His clear Revelations, are both false and misleading.

    The Elders' Creed, in brief:
    6. The Foreknowledge of God is also absolute.
    How the Foreknowledge of God is to be reconciled with man's free agency and moral accountability is indeed to men in the World a dark problem; but in the Scriptures both are clearly taught, and Faith accepts what Reason cannot reconcile.
    Some of the churches on Earth have denied man's moral freedom. Others maintain that God in the exercise of His Omniscience, like His Omnipotence, abstains from knowing what His creatures will do under certain given circumstances;
    But the Foreknowledge of God itself, unrevealed to men, does not impose nor even hint TO ME any course of conduct whatever. It in no degree affects his liberty of action.
    Man neither sins nor follows holiness, as the results of God's Foreknowledge; He has made mankind in His image, a free moral being.

    Here is a shoutout to one of the best things Luther ever gave the world. I hope some day it will again be embrace and reduce confusion:
    I believe as Luther did about the Bible. That the 24 apostolic gospels are more authoritative than the 3 non-apostolic. Otherwise we have genuinely unresolvable direct contradiction.
    It’s easy to be absolutist, and I am absolutist about the 98% of NT that was part of the Bible 350 years after Christ ascended. And like Luther, I am in love with the other 2%. But life is sooooooo much easier (and more true) letting the truly canonical spirit-breathed books settled contradictions.
    For when it was written that “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness”, it was referring to those 24 books “of gem and diamond”. When that was written, it was not referring to James and Jude for example. Not considered scripture by the apostles, not considered scripture when that verse was written, not considered scripture by the second century church fathers, not considered scripture by the third century church fathers, not considered scripture by the church fathers for most of the fourth century. Not considered entirely authoritative by Luther, and (just coincidentally?) the *only* sources of direct contradiction. Nonetheless considered by all to be Holy and wise and inspired.
    ----
    Contradiction examples that were hence no issue for the apostles and early fathers and Luther (and lil ol me);
    1. James 2.24 (You see that a person is justified by works and not by faith alone.) *vs* Eph 2.8-9 (For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God- not by works..)
    *How can anyone reconcile James 2.24 with sola fide?*
    2. Gal 3.28 (no greek nor jw in Christ) and many others *vs* Rev 11:1-2 (..I was told “Go and measure the temple of God and the altar, with its worshipers. But exclude the outer court; do not measure it, because it has been given to the Gentiles”)
    God’s going to separate the Christian j*ws in Heaven and give them the temple and altar? Sure. The rest of the Bible totally teaches that 🙄.
    3. The long descriptions in Rev where God opens books and judges people entirely by their works *vs* Eph 2.8-9 again, and John 6.29, 6.44, 6.55; Heb 12.2, 1Cor 1.7-9; Rom 6.23 and many more.
    Beyond that, James (the works gospel) is the *only* book that is BOTH:
    1. Non-apostolic and on Luthers list and
    2. One of only four of 27 books that faced dispute because it was not in the canon of 170 AD. And then each disputed but finally included, but not until 363 AD.
    Finally, we could exclude Hebrews from Luther’s list of non-apostolic because history has shown Paul did write it. That leaves only three (Jam, Rev, Jude). An honest study shows them to be profound and wise but not so clearly being directly of God in every word in the same way as the other 24, and the only places we find direct contradictions. In fact, on my word, I found issues in James and Revalation that gave me pause before I knew any of that.

The office we have in scripture is Overseer-shpepherd-Elder. Only those who are called to labor in the word are entitled to be paid. No one else. Apparently, the roman catholic church claim that they evolved from the church of Romans stated in the New Testament of the HOLY BIBLE. Considerably true, but it is not the truth, whereby the Bible stated church of Romans were under the authority and guide of JESUS' chosen Apostles, and appointed Bishops, even after them. Over the time due to the persecution of saints, the church evolved further of having also Bishops overseeing them by states and regions in the roman empire. There were many of them by now, differing and divided from one another, either rich, average or lacking in word of GOD. Also when evolved, Scriptures became scattered among them, held by them and treasured. Eventually, they stopped passing them on to one another in circulation of the word of GOD and be united.
    That is why, the council of Nicaea was called, and bring forth all the collected Scripture by them in one place. And having them all study thoroughly in all of them, came forth vote and verdict producing a single text. For that is the single text to be used by the entire church in the roman empire and thus overseen by their Bishops to be so. Now, during the time of constantine, he had many church bishops in his council, probably they should council him in faith matters, and also implement them in the state matters. Clearly, constantine desired the council of the hypocrite and false Bishops, while there were other Bishops and church were opposed to them. Basically, he started persecuting unbelievers who refused to become Christian and practice Christianity. Next, he erected idols of roman gods in relativeness to Christianity faith in worship, imposing and forcing the entire church of rome to worship as well.
    As a result, he persecuted opposing bishops and churches numbering more than he persecuted unbelievers. After his death, the remaining Bishops and churches split into two major sects. As one evolved into the roman catholic church, while the other into the roman greek orthodox church. As we know and forwarding, the roman catholic church occupied and rule over the whole empire of rome and europe. And the roman greek orthodox church resided in russia. Finally to conclude, the trace of constantine paganism mixed with christianity practice is evident in the catholic church tradition. Therefore, they have nothing in common with the origin church of Romans in the Holy Bible.
