Hey Steve. I'm finally commenting because I have finally caught up to the present! I can't wait to be present with you during the continuation of this Journey.
Yes! I was just thinking that it's absolute bs that this channel only has 100k subscribers. I've been listening for the last 3 years and I've never been disappointed
Are we circum-standing, when we should be circum-volving. Or are we circum-venting the under-standing of our circum-stance. Or are the words themselves circum-vallating our circum-stantial evidence of experience. What a vicious circle I find myself within, when-ever a thing is contra-diction.
Gasset is one of my favorite philosophers. He seems to be overlooked today. I think you mischaracterize his take on realism vs idealism. He, very much was against idealism and thought Modernity was 'objective idealism'. I believe this was stated in his book 'The Dehumanization of Art'. His "circumstance" was a way to get back to realism. Not by focusing on objective reality, but rather by focusing on relationships between the subject and object. "I am me and my circumstances" is really saying "I am the relationship between my subjective and objective experiences". Gasset is one of the few Modern philosophers that actually offer a path back to realism.
“You think your going to be staying in the Taj Mahal but instead you’re staying in a mop bucket” 😂👍love the jokes as much as the philosophy but it might be the other way round
Anyone else feel like the humanist perspective will be taken over soon by AI, also, more generally, how does technology play into this do you think? What if with technology we can get an idea of everything that is happening on earth then there would be just one perspective? How will this effect the duality we still have it because we have to process what it is telling us? Anyways.... Love the show by the way thankyou so much for creating it, it has been tremendous in keeping my brain stimulated feels liberating to listen to someone who can share others ideas as non-biased as possible and play with the outcomes of them then move onto others.
Ortega is my favourite philosopher, i am super glad you brought him to the podcast
