When Shuichi said that kokichi was forever alone he was right. Kokichi lost all of his friends and he still doesn't know what happened to them. He was alone up till he died.
@@buggy-boy i saw something (just someones opinion) that said kokichi saw what happened with shuichi and kaede so he made gonta do that so that he wouldnt have it happen to him too i can kinda see it but man this is just painful
@@grapemochiowo1025 oh believe me, if this whole animatic wasn't enough to convince you I believe wholeheartedly that he was trying to stop the game and cared about everyone from the very beginning. And I swear I have so much proof for it I've even contemplated making my oen analysis video on his actions throughout the game 👍
@@enevy3165 it’s really very true! He’s really just as terrified as the rest and it’s heartbreaking he’s really trying but it’s too late for him and he realises it. I’m sure he knew he was going to die and still after knowing that tries to go along with a plan to help. It really is a sad and beautiful representation and the song fits so well with it too. Not to mention your animation is amazing too!
I completely agree. It's been ages since I finished the game, and I still love thinking and analyzing his character even now. Kokichi is sincerely one of the most well written characters in general.. He's definitely my favorite character to analyze at the very least
Kokichi probably lead the most tragic life of all the characters in the killing game. He really did want the killing to end, but because he was afraid to trust anyone, he made himself untrustworthy, and even let it get to the point where he made himself out to be the villain, forcing him into loneliness. Even worse, he was forced to kill two people just so that he could see his goal to the end.
Three people, all of which he had some care for(cried for Gonta, called Kaito not boring, plan only worked with Miu.), yet they consented and the only one who didn't was Miu who tried to kill him.
Kokichi’s end goal for his actions was to end the killing game, but he masked his actions and pretended to be the mastermind pulling the strings instead of trusting the group and working with them. Kokichi’s actions weren’t always commendable, but I’d still argue that he wasn’t fully a terrible human being. There’s a lot to debate about this character and the morality, everyone’s gonna have their own opinion of course.
@@iguessimhere2632 sure but the plan wouldn’t have worked, remember danganronpa one chapter five, assuming that Monokuma would have not let been able to tell who the killer was so he would have stopped the killing game is a bold move and really doesn’t excuse his previous actions specially since he caused the killing game to continue multiple times.
"So come on and catch me, you've still got a chance." That part hit me the most, all I can think of is how at first they had a chance to help him, a chance to befriend him and understand him. But they didn't. They left him alone, alone to play the role of "villain". And y'know what? He took it because, "they all hated him anyways". And when he sacrificed himself all they had to say about him was that he was pure malice, the embodiment of a lie.
As someone who adored Ouma-Chan from the start, I was absolutely PISSED that they didn’t even bother to thank him for everything he’s done for them and instead choose to shit on this poor child’s grave. Thankfully, there was chapter 6, where he finally got the honour and recognition he deserved. Still... it kinda left me wanting more :C I truly wonder: what would Ouma-Chan and Momota think of chapter 6 if they survived? After all, they were the most devoted to their ideologies out of everyone. Also, they both are amazingly good at detecting people’s intentions... when they’re not blinded by stubbornness, that is. So... I would’ve loved to see their reaction to the.. reveal.
Congrats, you made me realize I was an asshole while playing the game because I didn't understand kokichi's character that much[[which made me understood about him from replaying the game and watching some character analysis videos]. He's a very interesting character tbh... not gonna lie, you perfectly represented kokichi's character in general, Even the song perfectly represented him, this is very much underrated. and your art style and everything is just **chef kiss** edit:srsly, how exactly is my comment getting likes?!
Hahaha actually, one of the main reasons I made this animatic was to hopefully change at least ONE person's perspective on Kokichi.. Or at the very least make someone consider the idea that Kokichi isn't as 'pure evil' as he initially seems. In all honesty, when I first played the game, the moment I first learned Kokichi was a liar, I IMMEDIATELY thought he was the good guy. I was like "Aight, this guy is a liar.... His talent is literally 'ultimate supreme leader', he's literally pretending to be evil all the time as if he WANTS everyone to believe he's evil... It's like the game is practically FORCING me to believe Kokichi Ouma is the evil mastermind behind all of this, which means there's probably gonna be a big twist at the end of this game where Kokichi was secretly working for the future foundation or was secretly the good guy all along or something idk cuz he can't be the mastermind, or pure evil, it's way too convenient and Danganronpa was never this obvious. His biggest lie is probably gonna be he was only pretending to be the villain or somethin idk" And well.... I was right. From the moment I met him. So yeah, I personally went through the game believing in him and paying attention to everything he said and did, did all of his FTEs, paid attention to everything he tells Shuichi and how he interacted with the rest of the characters, ect. so yeah. That and I had a close friend who acts almost exactly like Kokichi, and another who acted a bit like Miu, while I was the Gonta of the friend group. So I sorta related more to the dynamic of those characters than of Shuichi, Maki and Kaito's. Then when I heard this song I was like "yup. That's basically Kokichi." I spent way too much time typing this comment lmao if you actually read all of that, thank you for allowing me to waste your time 😂 😂 (But I mean think about it.. Kokichi says he wants the next killing to happen.... yet in each chapter, he does everything in his power to PREVENT the next killing from happening.. He SAYS he wants them to suffer, yet he constantly prevents their suffering/stops their suffering.... Those lies... Things like that)
@@enevy3165 Tbh, while I was replaying the game the first thing that comes up to my mind is kokichi. He is an interesting character like a walking puzzle that is waiting to be solved. As much I know myself im a big fan of puzzles that why I got so interested in his character. I consider myself to play his free time events and even played the extra events just to know him more. Seeing this video made me realized a lot of flaws I did when I 1st played the game.
@@enevy3165 I am actually thinking about it and wouldn’t it be so darn convenient for the future foundation too have a “villain” in the public eye with no connection too them makes it easier too push stuff under the rug
This perfectly shows how he is a antagonist who still played his part but ‘as a protagonist’. This shows how he did absolutely nothing wrong and understood that his plan need sacrifices to help the rest. He needed them to hate him so that he wouldn’t get attached, to act as a Mastermind... Correct me if I’m wrong on any parts!
T H A N K Y O U I completely agree. Well, although he technically did do things " wrong " (chapter 4, since technically murder is still wrong no matter the reasons) I COMPLETELY understand his perspective... But that would take quite a long essay to explain.
@@enevy3165 Yeah. Looking at all he has done in order and some free time events show how he actually had a plan from the beginning and that he didn’t follow what Byakuya did (blame the protagonist to get him started) or what Nagito did (go off on his own prepared to kill everyone just for the sake of ‘Hope’ and not his classmates.) He wanted to survive with everyone else but his plan needed a self sacrifice to succeed. I honestly don’t get why some people really hate him. Sure you can have your own opinion but they put so much into his character I feel like there is no reason to really hate what he did. Except indirectly kill Miu, I almost threw hands. 👊👊👊
@@svqfias well, besides the fact that he and gonta did want to stop the group from suffering further by killing them off before they could hear the despairing truth about the outside world (that's the motive that played into Miu's murder)(also remember they wanted to prevent the group from suffering from the despairing truth, which Kokichi was forced into revealing as a last resort to stop the killing- what happened when the group learned the secret? Yeah, they suffered from such a severe depression they all decided to form a suicide pact. Which is what Kokichi and Gonta tried to prevent in ch4) Besides that. 1- Miu tried to kill Kokichi first. A lot of people seem to forget that. 2- if you pay attention, Kokichi actually gives Miu a CHANCE to explain herself. Remember, Kokichi and Miu worked together behind the scenes. They were somewhat friends before this betrayal.... Kokichi gave Miu a chance to explain why she wanted to kill him, a chance to back down on the rooftop, Gonta didn't kill Miu right away.. That could have been because Kokichi told Gonta to wait. The moment Miu explained that she was dead-set on killing Kokichi and nothing could change her mind and made her move to attack, THAT'S when Gonta stopped her and killed her. 3- at the beginning of the chp 4 trial, Kokichi says "you can't trust anyone in this game, anyone can betray you. Your friends will betray you in the end" (this references Miu betraying him) Also the fact that he NEVER BLAMED MIU FOR BETRAYING HIM OR WANTING TO KILL HIM. In fact, he explains in ch 5 that Miu did what she did out of paranoia. He explained that she was afraid of being betrayed, so she chose to betray first. Then Kokichi puts the blame on the group, for continuing the killing game and causing Miu's paranoia to go overflow. The fact that he explained this to the group means that he understood her.. And it shows the two were pretty close beforehand... Miu and Kokichi also both hide behind a mask of confidence and vulgarity to hide their true feelings and emotions, they could relate to eachother in that sense as well. Kokichi and Miu's close-to-friendship only adds to the tragedy of chp 4 in my opinion... Though I can understand why everything happened the way it did. And I agree... Maybe people just... Think he's annoying? Idk. He never bothered me.. I wanna be his friend irl lol he seems so fun to hang around and talk to. Like a dramatic gay best friend lol But I'm also surprised that there are people who hate him even AFTER chapter 5, when he explained everything. Man
@@enevy3165 I wanna know how long that took you to type but Y E S. I agree. They really put so much into this antagonist. It really shows how they improved on messing with all of our feelings.
@@svqfias I. Know. I swear there's just so much to think about when it comes to his character. And honestly probably an hour... Or... Idk. I spent this whole morning writing more essays in the comments. Sometimes I avoid v3 comment sections because I know I'll likely end up tempted to spend the next few hours typing an insanely long analysis comment(s) again.. Sorry, couldn't help myself lmao...
holy fucking shit. this- this is amazing, i don’t know how I haven’t seen this until now but WOW. this hurts so much, it represents kokichis character perfectly, how he was always faking his emotions and putting up a mask of lies,, how much mental problems he went through by himself.. and how he was truly alone like shuichi said. i love how you showed him watching his motive video, i feel like people forget the fact that he watched his closest family die all alone,, and he couldn’t even express his emotions to anyone about it. he had to fake happiness every single day. just thank you for this, it shows his character so well 💕💕💕💕
T h a n k y o u For understanding Kokichi's perspective in the whole game.... He did EVERYTHING he could to stop the game from the very beginning And thank you also for paying attention to Kokichi's motive video... The fact that Kokichi saw DICE as his family, then learn that they were all d e a d...... People really need to pay more attention to that fact. Also, knowing that at the end of Kokichi's salmon route and his max FTE's with Kaede... He asks Shuichi and Kaede to join DICE.... It proves he only asks those he considers closest to him to join DICE. So yes. chp 2 - learns DICE is in danger... But unlike Kirumi, (and sayaka maizono) who gives into the motive..... Kokichi puts his worry for DICE aside and instead tries to help the group cope with the pain of the motive videos together (but he also has to make it seem like he's manipulative about it because of his villain-mastermind plan) chp 4- • He steals the motive to prevent anyone else from taking it (prevent another murder) • He ends up being the first person to learn about the secret of the outside world... Aka DICE is D E A D (remember when shuichi and the others learned the secret? They became so severely depressed they wanted to commit suicide? Yeah. Kokichi went through that pain. Alone. And WORSE. Because unlike shuichi and the others, KOKICHI SAW HIS MOTIVE VIDEO. Kokichi has a personal connection with the outside world, he learned the secret first.... chp 5 - he's starting to suspect the motive video and everything they know about the outside world may be a lie. He has no one left. The people closest to friends he has (Miu and Gonta) betrayed him, or died because of him(don't even get me started on how guilty he felt for Gonta at the end of chp 4)... So yeah. Poor guy has nothing left, so he just uses all that he has left to try and end the game for good. Basically saying. DICE _needs_ to be talked about way more in the fandom... and just how important DICE was to Kokichi. Like I said, _"people u care about r dying in the outside world, so ya gotta kill someone and leave"_ -Monokuma's Motive That motive was used for Sayaka, TeruTeru, Kokichi, Kirumi, ect. When faced with the same motive, everyone else either tried to murder someone, or sat back and watched. Kokichi was the only one to use that motive as a motivation to END the game rather than continue it
@@enevy3165 god exactly! and yes, I’ve spent weeks and weeks of analyzing his character when I first finished v3, because he always stuck out to me. when i saw how close he was to DICE, and how he legitimately witnessed the death of his own family all alone,, it really hurt me and made me realize how much shit he’s been through behind the scenes of the game.. and the fact that the closest people (like you said miu and gonta) died to his plan,, and including dice means he really did end up truly alone. it- it just makes me super upset, so yeah thank you too you aswell for understanding his character and actually looking into things he does instead of dismissing kokichi as this “asshole who doesn’t care about anyone and is a manipulative bitch who shows no remorse” I’m surprised people genuinely think of kokichi that way, oh well though. but yeah kokichi deserved way better in my opinion and I’m really happy you showed all of his struggles in this beautiful animatic! 😭💕💕💕
@@enevy3165 I think you must be confused, since you are majorly wrong about one detail. He doesn't think DICE was dead, and he doesn't think the world was destroyed. It was obvious that he already knew we were being watched by an audience by as soon as chapter 1 as he references it several times by that point, and again in nearly every other chapter he makes subtle reference to it. When he saw the secret of the outside world he didn't think it was true cause he already knew there had to be an audience watching them which wouldn't make sense if the world was actually destroyed. it's even more blatant if you replay the game that Oma is about 10 steps ahead of everyone when it comes to understanding what's actually going on. From his references to it seeming strange that the mastermind is such a stickler for the rules if it was only for us, to him outright commenting that it would be interesting if people were watching them like a show. None of his plan in the 5th chapter would make any sense at all if that wasn't the case since his whole planned revolved around the fact that the *audience* watching wouldn't find it fair if the mastermind doesn't know who the killer is. Literally the entirety of his plan revolved around the fact that there has to still be people out there watching this. Not to mention all the things he made Mui invent that could only be the case if he understood things like there being cameras everywhere. He never actually believed the world was actually destroyed. He just used it as a motivator on others. I thought that was obvious to anyone who finished the chapter 5 class trial, which is also why a lot of people were mad when he killed Gonta, since he basically manipulated Gonta with a vision he already knew wasn't actually true, but let him believe it anyway so that he could use his death to further prop up the idea he was the mastermind. I think you're giving Kokichi far to little credit if you actually think he just bought the lies the mastermind was putting in his head. This isn't to say he didn't suffer for what he did, just that he was never distraught by the idea that everyone was dead. I'm honestly still a little in shock that there were actually people who believed HE believed in the secret of the outside world.
@@sardonicus1739 Fair point, fair point. My initial interpretation was that the sight of the "outside world" caught him off guard enough to make him question his people-are-watching-us hypothesis... which would explain why he seemed so... Off... right after it was implied he saw the "outside" for the first time. (by 'off ' I mean he suddenly becomes all "omg killing game lets kill eachother already haha yes death murder fun ect." out of nowhere that Kaito had to punch him to knock him out of it.. Also noting that pathological liars (edit:COMPULSIVE liars, my bad) do tend to lie more often when upset... His sudden subtle change in behavior could have been a sign that he did feel caught off guard by what he saw, even if it was for a short amount of time. Another proof of this was the fact that he went out of his way to ask Monokuma for a flashback light that could give him additional insight and information on the outside world.. If Kokichi truly did feel unphased and unconcerned by what he just saw, why would he ask monokuma for more information to make more sense of it? He even casually says something like "we just need more information.. We just need to remember what happened.. then all this would make more sense" or something like that in the dining room meeting but no one understood what he meant since noone else saw the outside world yet. Using 'he only asked for the flashback light solely because he planned to manipulate gonta into dying for him with it ' as a reason wouldn't make sense, since he didn't even know Miu was targetting him until after the map scene-aka after asking monokuma-aka why would he need to suddenly manipulate Gonta to that extent? the flashback light was for him only, and Gonta coming along too was only a side thought after Miu's mess... Meaning there HAD to have been some point in the game where even Kokichi himself started doubting the validity of his "we are being watched and this is all fake" hypothesis... that he must have believed at least some of the flashback lights at some point... Just like how at the end of the game it's implied that many lies had a bit of truth to them, ex. Certain flashback lights containing both correct and incorrect info, tsumugi being deemed as innocent despite telling the truth, just not the full truth of course ect. And the possibility of the whole 53 seasons being a lie/once again some truth to the flashback lights... Even US as the players of the game are still torn between the ending of v3, even we wonder if it was all just because Tsumugi wanted to copy Junko completely despite having no real 'audience', or maybe she did broadcast it to copy the first game, maybe it's the truth and DR IS a TV show in their world. Maybe Tsumugi was lying about everything. See? Even we are never truly sure.. The same thing could be said for Kokichi within the game itself) Him being internally conflicted/confused between the two ideas during chp4 could have explained a few things.. Again, my initial interpretation was that he did feel the most conflicted, confused, and upset during chp4 thanks to the card motive.. and it's sort of natural for humans to act in ways we wouldn't normally act under the influence of... well... emotions. His confusion could have very well influenced (intentionally or unintentionally) his decisions in chapter 4... especially after waking up again from the flashback light soon after seeing the 'outside world' (added more confusion and disorientation).. I just assumed that internal turmoil died down after he calmed down from chpt 4, everything suddenly became clear again But yeah, Kokichi does show countless signs of knowing about "the audience" and generally the only exception would be chapter 4. Or not... I guess what this really boils down to is..... What do you personally believe the ending of v3 is? Do you believe that Tsumugi was telling the truth and that the audience is full of DR fans who want more drama, romance, bloodshed(heh. references)? Do you believe that Tsumugi was lying and that future Foundation DOES exist, that there was some truth to the flashback lights they were given after all, but Tsumugi only truly manipulated the final flashback lights, meaning the v3 cast has nothing to do with Hope's peak BUT tsumugi wanted to recreate the first killing game so much that she asked Miu to help her create a killing game simulator, asked all her friends(aka the v3 cast) to join, then removed everyone's, including Miu's, memories? Or maybe Tsumugi was telling the truth... There's proof that the audience-being-DR fans is complete Tsumugi-BS but there's also proof of it being true. Ect. My point is, I believe Kokichi, like us, was still torn at some points of the 'hints' the mastermind gave. Not even US as the players are completely sure either, whether or not the flashback lights hold truth or not, whether the outside world is truly a wasteland, just like it was in every previous DR game. Maybe the world truly is a wasteland, but DICE never existed. If it is, then you believe that Tsumugi is lying, and that the previous DR games are still canon truth. Or you believe that the "outside world" sight they saw was a hologram of some sort and the flashback lights were complete BS made up by Team Danganronpa for the DR TV show, meaning you believe Tsumugi was telling the truth and the previous DR games are now deemed uncanon and fake. Makoto? Never heard of him lmao. It really all depends I'd love to hear your thoughts on this though. As much as I love Kokichi, I always try to keep an open mind to new interpretations and thoughts on him as we all try to make sense of v3 together.
I don’t understand why so many people in the fandom still see Kokichi as some heartless, good for nothing bastard when there is so much examples throughout the game of showing that he isn’t at all. I’m gonna go over some of the times Kokichi showed that he isn’t some heartless bastard In chapter 1 of the death road of despair tunnels at the end of it, Kokichi calls out Kaede for being way too pushy to the others and was being very oblivious to their exhaustion. Kokichi saw how tired they all were and took it upon himself to stand up for the others and to tell her to stop. Kokichi in that scene never talks about how much pain HE’S in or how much HE’S the one suffering. This is a very shining moment for his true self, that he always has the well being of everyone else on his mind at all times. The other characters however are very quick to accuse him of blaming and being selfish for this but that is absolutely not the case at all. Kokichi was never being selfish in that scene. He simply was just calling Kaede out for her being too pushy. Yes, he was harsh but there’s a difference between calling someone out for their bad behavior and blaming them entirely for their ignorance. Chapter 3 where Kokichi helps Himiko feel better after the class trial. In here, Kokichi helps Himiko feel better about her lying about her feelings. He also literally triggered her development by calling her out on her bullshit because he genuinely cared for her well being. In chapter 5 if it wasn’t for him Maki wouldn’t had survived and Kaito wouldn’t had survived the arrows. There are so so so many examples still. People are more than free to hate Kokichi all they want but saying he didn’t give a single fuck about the others when there are so many examples of him caring for them?? Idk it’s just weird.
as someone who has been a liar since- such a young age, ill say, seeing kokichi- or any liar, *especially* in a game like danganronpa that wasn't just "liar = bad" was an amazing experience. and in all honesty, i felt called out by him. which is why i researched him. a lot. and after doing it i felt so much close to myself. lying isnt "yea ill lie when i want," when you do it, it's hard to get out of the cycle. its not a "ok ill be myself!" thing. its a "ill try not to lie" thing. but this is amazing. thank you for bringing more info about him! i get really mad at people who get mad at him because hes "a liar" without giving any real reason to hate him.
Me too. I started lying at a young age when everyone around me shunned me for being myself, so I started lying to protect myself and my self esteem at an extremely young age. Ever since then, by late Elementary, I was a compulsive liar who genuinely just couldn't stop. I got called out on it and punished for doing it, lost my friends, and when I made more they tried to make me stop, I tried, but, I just couldn't. Lying is comfortable for me and without lies I know I wouldn't be myself. People shouldn't hate liars *just* because they lie, sometimes we don't try to do anything bad, we just can't stop, or it feels comfortable to us.
Oh my god! This is AMAZING! God this is a perfect show of his character! He’s honestly my favourite and my comfort character by far because of his much depth he has to him! He comes across as the villain, just wanting to mess up class trials, he comes across as heartless and horrible but it was all part of his plan to save them all and I don’t see why none of them get it! I swear I try explain how he was actually trying to save them and no one listens to me like for me it’s obvious and it’s obvious he’s not being truthful and it’s obvious he cares about all of the, and it’s obvious he’s not a bad guy but no one ever agrees with me! I am so so so glad this has been made because it’s so true! And it annoys me that after he dies none of them know what to believe and assume that he was a villain I- AAAAAA OGDJVNDKCJGJDCKGKGJFVJVN this is amazing ty
MY PLAN FOR THIS ANIMATIC HAS BEEN SUCCESSFUL MUAHAHAH Because the main reasons I put so much effort into this animatic was: 1: Hopefully change a kokichi-hater's perspective on Kokichi, or at the very least get them to reconsider their views on Kokichi 2: Find like-minded people in the comments that agree with me on Kokichi being "Not the villain he appears to be" Believe me. You're one of my favorite people now.. Because I agree and relate to you wholeheartedly. I personally went through the game believing in him from the beginning, which allowed me to pay more attention to everything he did and said... Even when I first came across the chapter 4 trial, I still kept a hope in my heart that he was still a good person deep down, and it paid off tremendously. He truly is the Ultimate Supreme Leader. What does a good leader do? They do what they think is best for the group they lead, without asking for praise or recognition. v3 is really a battle of leader vs leader.... Kokichi (ultimate leader) vs Mastermind.
Honestly I agree with the both of you, because even though I can point out the moments he wasn't lying, people online will just say he's always lying and being a huge "piece of crap" and that we don't have any way to point these moments out. Like in chapter one when he said he lies to make peace or something like that, and then Himiko says "Yeah no that sounds more like a lie than anything" when he just did that a few seconds ago...I was a bit frustrated that Himiko couldn't see what he did. Another thing I can point out is in his last fte, where Shuichi and Kokichi were playing rock paper scissors. They frickin tied for a hundred times, then Kokichi says he got bored, then said to Shuichi oblivious detective Saihara about the fact that there's a way to intentionally tie with the opponent multiple times. From the beginning to the end of his ftes, he kept saying things like "Yeah let's play some games of life and death. If you lose, you die" and made sure Shuichi thinks that Kokichi is gonna kill him until the "last event" like he said. This just *proves* Kokichi actually *cares* for his peers, even if it was a subtle way to say it, and he thinks only Shuichi can take a hint on that since he's a detective. Of course people can dislike him, but they can at least acknowledge the fact he's not entirely bad, even if he's not entirely good either. Christ ! Also, I know I've been rambling a bit but I'd love to hear and read your observations and explanations of Kokichi throughout the game

It's amazing how perfectly this song fits with Kokichi's character, so many people just misunderstand Kokichi and assume that he's evil when in reality he was just trying to stop the Killing Game and trick the mastermind into thinking he was evil, I have a feeling that he also purposefully made the others hate him for his plan as well in chapter 4
At that point in time they were all 1: manipulated by the mastermind thinking that he was a remnant of despair. 2: still recovering from what he did in gonta's trial and 3: unsure of whether to trust him or not given that when they do it ends up in disappointment. +Kaito was in kokichi's shoes, so he might've been unsure about it but he did trust him in the end too.

This honestly hit home because not only do I love kokichi and think people don't understand him I realized that I can relate so much with him by feeling misunderstood and always feeling like the villain. I really loved this
This was amazing with the song choice and your art. I love and hate Kokichi so much, but storywise he's one of the most unique, developed, and interesting characters the Danganronpa series has come up with. As a force of chaos and unpredictability, he makes a good opposition to face against. So long story short, thank you for making this. Kokichi will always be Kokichi lol ❤️
Thank you! And hey, I'll take it. Lol, I'm just glad you understand he's not 100% pure evil and malice like some people tend to think. Like you said, he's a very interesting and well developed character, which means he's NOT black and white. There's so much to analyze about him man.. He's my favorite DR character for a reason.
@@enevy3165 I completely understand. Hey I can understand that you'd have tons to say about him so it's no biggie if you turn it into an essay. Lol just uhh maybe make a video about it instead of spilling your guts in a comment section? Hey ya never know. Video essays are pretty good LMAO I appreciate your passion and keeping doing you
THIS IS SO AMAZING!!! The whole animatic is perfect! You portray Kokichi amazingly and your art is so beautiful! The music fits him perfectly, too. Everything about this is just great! You deserve the world!!!!! Thank you so much for making this!!!!!!!
Thank you so muchhhh And Ikr?? I was surprised no one made anything about Kokichi with this song yet... Since I thought it fit him perfectly.. So.. Well. I did. Lol
kokichis personality in the game to be honest isn’t even the real him. for an example, the kokichi in the game put up walls of lies surrounding himself since he has extreme trust issues. he had to lie to himself in order to survive, he couldn’t say he actually wanted to help since his mastermind plan would fail. take this for an example, in kokichis salmon mode graduation he specifically says to shuichi “anyways we should keep this relationship going even after we get out of here” “Even if we get out of here?” “Because you don’t *actually* know anything about me do you?” “you wanna get to know the *real* me right?” that line is what I’m talking about. the fact that he specially said “real me” shows that the personality he had in the killing game is very not kokichi.
the way he interprets it seems like he was always alone, I feel so bad thinking about this layer of lies he interprets, I wanted him to stay alive even after all this, I didn't expect him to die this way..
i read your comment on nonsense speaker and i had the video playing in the bg while reading it and i started crying- and then i found this and *melted* into my pillow- kokichi is extremely misunderstood- i cant form sentences anymore- my point is that this is amazing, *chef’s kiss*,10/10 and that this represents kokichi beautifully.
This is so good and very true to him character he really did want to help in his own way and I bugs me some people don’t get that so thank you so much for understanding his true character and makes this it’s so well done and beautiful you did him proud👑 he’s probably my favorite character by the way ☺️
Mhm mhm I came for my monthly dose of Kokichi Hurt and now I’m tearing up. Especially at the part he sincerely begins to cry and the ‘I had to TRY’ from the singer hit different 8,) Thanks for the miSERY.
I'm so happy that somebody finally created the video that represents he's true personality 😭💜 Most of the people use him for toxic unfunny edits but THIS IS MY FAVORITE 💜💜💜
since i discovered this video i come back literally every day, you have no idea how this lives rent-free in my head,,, i need to print every frame of it fr fr
ahem. yeah i really like to bash on people who dont appreciate Kokichi, he was trying so hard to end the find the mastermind, and end the killing game for good. He HAD to act like that to end the game, he was trying his best. Hell he killed himself for them. He was always saying he wanted the sweet release of death, but really he was afraid to die. even then, he still sacrificed himself for everyone else. And at 2:15 you can see that Kokichi thought Shuichi was still trust worthy. He could have told him he was just trying to catch the master mind but he didn't, he couldn't. He thought Shuichi was trustworthy, and Shuichi still told him that he would forever be alone. Kokichi is such a misunderstood character, and i wish the best for him. I am so upset he had to die like that, i wish he could have lived, i wish he could have made friends, i wish he could have been happy. This animatic really portrays his character development and i thank you for that, you really did good a job showing his character. I watch this on repeat a lot, it's one of my top favorite animatics! Nishishi! :3
I swear the first time I watched this I started to cry Kokichi is my favorite character and I feel like he’s so misunderstood or at least a lot of people dislike him mainly for the chapter 4 situation. Kokichi deserved so much better than the hate that was thrown at him.
yeah, okay, so, I've noticed some stuff now that I've watched it about 3 billion times but I'm gonna point it out anyway! At the start of the animatic all the words of the song are in light purple/white, until about 0:52, 'And that's exactly what I'll do' when it changes to dark purple/black, and it adds 'evil' onto Ouma's talent on the student handbook. Then at 1:30, it changes back to light again, with 'Even if you think I'm in the wrong', and it stays that way until 2:23, 'Moving along, no I won't settle down' when it becomes dark purple again, althought this time it's much less vibrant(?) at least in my opinion. Then back to light again at 2:41, with 'And I know you think I'm crazy' So, I'm thinking that the darker color represents what everyone else thinks of Kokichi/what Kokichi thinks of this darker front he's putting on, and the light is what he's truly thinking or what he actually is trying to do. That's just what I think, although I could be very wrong. I'm not great at explaining. I just think it's a really cool detail and I wanted Jenevy to know that someone noticed!
Guys, I am sorry but I can't believe that they are dead, I just can't accept that kokichi and Kaito are dead, that's why I believe the game was all a simulation like Danganronpa 2.
i finished v3 recently, and it was an incredibly frustrating experience precisely because of everything you captured in your animatic, your art shows everything I saw from his POV and how unfair it was. this is beautiful and well-timed and you are making me sad again. and the way no one even grieved or visibly thought about kokichi's actions in the game any deeper than the most superficial level was really sad. the amount of confirmation bias everyone had about him, only believing the worst of the things he says because anything else 'has to be a lie' was really sad. especially when they literally have all the facts in front of them, and even after they know he's not a remnant, there's still no sign of 'wow maybe we should reevaluate what we thought of this guy', he's just forgotten and unmissed. every trial he carried them through but there was no recognition of that either. ):
I completely agree and thank you so much!! I'm glad I succeeded in portraying the guy as canon as possible while showing v3 from his perspective.. Because Kokichi was clearly never given the recognition he deserved in his game... So this is the least I could do for the guy........ Seriously whenever I think about how the v3 cast never gave a damn about him all while he was trying so hard to save them...my blood just boils so I try not to think about it.... And like you said, even after they found out... TWICE.... that he wasn't the bad guy (first time was 5th trial, when they learned he basically sacrificed his life to stop the game... also may I add Maki became one of the sole survivors purely because Kokichi's plan saved her from becoming the blackened, second time was when they learned he wasn't even a remnant of despair )... None of them -besides Kiibo- stopped to think "hmmm... Maybe Kokichi wasn't - the - villain - he - appeared - to - be after all..." nope. None of them. Don't think I forgot how mr. violent Kaito tried to punch Kokichi twice, succeeded the first time (idk punching someone just because they were being annoying?) and the time when Kokichi had blood pouring from his face with a possible concussion from the floorboards in chp3, nobody was the least bit concerned.... Not a single "hey, are you okay?" nope. smh
@@enevy3165 yeah!! my blood was already boiling during the game just. having him being the only one making sense in trials while everyone is like 'belief!' and 'it's magic!' and yet he's the only one who is made out to be a villain and ganged up on. one of my favourite moments was Kokichi himself calling them out on it, "You guys blame and gang up on me, but now you're gonna pretend to be good people?" - but even that went completely unaddressed because they don't care, and why would you care if you're ganging up on someone who's nothing but a villain in your eyes. I can't help but think back to DR2 which is also relatively fresh on my mind - I also like Nagito a lot, even though the 2 of them are very different and Kokichi was basically forced into the same role narratively despite that. and Nagito felt legitimately like a villain to me in parts, despite knowing the reason for it, the actions and the way he went about it were a lot more sinister.. and even so, when Nagito died people /were/ sad, or at least in disbelief, and Hajime thought something along the lines of 'he also saved us a lot. we'll never be confused by him again and we'll never be saved by him again' and how helpful he was /was/ recognized. even though Nagito was choked once, the cast had a lot more justification doing that when there's a bomb threat going on compared to 'this brat is being annoying and saying rude things' yenno?? but in v3, you're absolutely right - only good boy Kiiboy tried to believe in his /dying words/, and none of the surviving cast gave a thought about him when he's largely the reason they're able to stand there. my issue with Maki aside from the whole predictable character arc is really how narrative wise her blame was shoved away to everything being the mastermind's fault. I don't remember the specific line but after they find out the flashback lights were fake memories and used to manipulate their behaviour, Maki basically said 'then I was manipulated to kill Kokichi with that light' and my reaction was 'NO THAT'S WRONG' because let's be real here, you wanted to kill him /way/ before that, it was just a small nudge in that direction, the justification she was desperately looking for to do it. it's a killing game and i don't begrudge killers, but the least you could do imo is understand what you did, kill an innocent civilian, and admit to that being your own choice. Kokichi got hurt so much for 'comedy' and don't even get me started on the "alone" line, am i the audience really supposed to cheer on the protagonist here?! hhhhhh
Might I add how the whole strangling thing got swept up the rug? Y’a know, the thing the writers did to make Maki look all edgy and cool? Which also happened twice? Strangling is serious, and I doubt that these teenagers would be able to treat him
@@thissaname8949 i mean,,, even if they knew how to treat him, would they even bother? not like they tried when his head was full of blood with the choking, they pretty much told her to stop only so she wouldn't become the blackened, so maybe they would try (but not /for him/) .-.
@@superjaeeee I know, that’s what I was thinking while typing it I hate everyone :( (Not really) Maki, you could be so much better than this By not meeting Kaito And getting a better friend
This song is so suitable for the character! The art is amazing! And I really like your interpretation of Kokichi, it was very interesting to read your opinion in the comments. Every time I discover something new about the characters, some moments that I didn't notice myself. This video made me think about a lot of things, thank you so much! (and sorry for my bad English, you're so underrated!!)

No, no no This isnt fair im crying now whYYYYYY This is so well done, the expressions, the gestures, the way you depicted plot points and even managed to match lyrics and dialogue, fuck even the technical bits of timing scenes, its all so well done I hate that i got attached to the character, Kokichi has to be one of the most developed and thought out characters of all in dr from what i know, there's so much to unpack with him though of course with the time he's existed his character and mystery has been ravaged and annihilated through analysis, but that doesn't make him of any lesser value. You brought me p a i n and I'm not a masochist, but that just means you did amazingly well :'0
Thank you so muchhh (T v T) I tried. I'm also glad I was able to show how insanely the lyrics fit Kokichi too lol Honestly every time I think about Kokichi, I realize more and more about him. God I love him so much.. So I can definitely relate. 👌
O M G! THIS LITERALLY FITS HIS CHARACTER SO WELL! It always annoys me when people say all this horrible stuff about him and never see that he sacrificed himself and that he had good intentions- not be sobbing through this entire video- it's amazing
Every time i watch one of these Kokichi animatics it makes me love this game and his character even more, his presence just makes the game and story of the game way better than it already is. And this made my hart hurt, this video was beautiful.
This is so amazing, this represents his character so well! And this shows that there isn’t a true villain in the game, he’s just playing the game how he knows, I’m really glad you made this, because this really shows his character development!
I'm extremely late for this but I will give a sad little reminder that Kokichi died knowing and beliveing that everyone still hated him and they would just forget that he died and would only feel pity for kaito(something that really bothers me in gameplays but I can understand why since kaito was one of those Characters that you love and never forget)
Ughhh I know. What makes it even worse is that he was right. Nobody even bothered to care about Kokichi.... and only Kiibo believed Kokichi's final words were the truth. Even when they learned he was never an ultimate despair to begin with, none of the characters stopped to think " Hmm... Maybe Kokichi wasn't - the - villain - he - appeared - to - be after all." nope. None of them.
When Shuichi said that kokichi was forever alone he was right. Kokichi lost all of his friends and he still doesn't know what happened to them. He was alone up till he died.

Not to mention your animation is amazing too!
kokichi is honestly in my opinion one of the best writen characters in the franchize, i love how this makes me belive that even more
I completely agree.
"I had to try to make you believe it was me so you'd stop hurting each other."

Ikr?? I was surprized no one made an animatic for him yet so.. Well. I made one myself... So..
Thanks so much :)
Of course (I can safely say I've watched this animatic like 10 times now.)
How so? Isn’t this song about not being a villain even if you seem to be, Kokichi manipulated someone as smart as a child.
"So come on and catch me, you've still got a chance."
That part hit me the most, all I can think of is how at first they had a chance to help him, a chance to befriend him and understand him.
Still... it kinda left me wanting more :C
I truly wonder: what would Ouma-Chan and Momota think of chapter 6 if they survived? After all, they were the most devoted to their ideologies out of everyone. Also, they both are amazingly good at detecting people’s intentions... when they’re not blinded by stubbornness, that is. So... I would’ve loved to see their reaction to the.. reveal.
bro that one moment when kaito realize the reason why kokichi was making everyone hates him just hit hards
Congrats, you made me realize I was an asshole while playing the game because I didn't understand kokichi's character that much[[which made me understood about him from replaying the game and watching some character analysis videos]. He's a very interesting character tbh... not gonna lie, you perfectly represented kokichi's character in general, Even the song perfectly represented him, this is very much underrated. and your art style and everything is just **chef kiss**
edit:srsly, how exactly is my comment getting likes?!
His biggest lie is probably gonna be he was only pretending to be the villain or somethin idk"
And well....
That's basically Kokichi."
I spent way too much time typing this comment lmao if you actually read all of that, thank you for allowing me to waste your time 😂 😂
(But I mean think about it.. Kokichi says he wants the next killing to happen.... yet in each chapter, he does everything in his power to PREVENT the next killing from happening.. He SAYS he wants them to suffer, yet he constantly prevents their suffering/stops their suffering.... Those lies... Things like that)

T H A N K Y O U
I completely agree.
Well, although he technically did do things " wrong " (chapter 4, since technically murder is still wrong no matter the reasons)
I COMPLETELY understand his perspective...
Which is what Kokichi and Gonta tried to prevent in ch4)
Besides that.
Your friends will betray you in the end" (this references Miu betraying him)
Also the fact that he NEVER BLAMED MIU FOR BETRAYING HIM OR WANTING TO KILL HIM.
Like a dramatic gay best friend lol

T h a n k y o u
For understanding Kokichi's perspective in the whole game.... He did EVERYTHING he could to stop the game from the very beginning
And thank you also for paying attention to Kokichi's motive video...
Kokichi puts his worry for DICE aside and instead tries to help the group cope with the pain of the motive videos together (but he also has to make it seem like he's manipulative about it because of his villain-mastermind plan)
chp 4-
• He steals the motive to prevent anyone else from taking it (prevent another murder)
• He ends up being the first person to learn about the secret of the outside world... Aka DICE is D E A D
(remember when shuichi and the others learned the secret?
Like I said, _"people u care about r dying in the outside world, so ya gotta kill someone and leave"_ -Monokuma's Motive
That motive was used for Sayaka, TeruTeru, Kokichi, Kirumi, ect.
I just assumed that internal turmoil died down after he calmed down from chpt 4, everything suddenly became clear again
But yeah, Kokichi does show countless signs of knowing about "the audience" and generally the only exception would be chapter 4.
It really all depends
I'd love to hear your thoughts on this though.
I’m gonna go over some of the times Kokichi showed that he isn’t some heartless bastard
In chapter 1 of the death road of despair tunnels at the end of it, Kokichi calls out Kaede for being way too pushy to the others and was being very oblivious to their exhaustion.
MY PLAN FOR THIS ANIMATIC HAS BEEN SUCCESSFUL MUAHAHAH
Because the main reasons I put so much effort into this animatic was:
1: Hopefully change a kokichi-hater's perspective on Kokichi, or at the very least get them to reconsider their views on Kokichi
2: Find like-minded people in the comments that agree with me on Kokichi being "Not the villain he appears to be"
Believe me.

Thankssss and don't worry dude I cry over Kokichi every day you ain't alone lmao
Kokichi: sacrifices himself to end the killing game
Everyone but Keebo: man fuck that guy he was such a liar

A stab to the heart is what this is. I love it, so painfully
Kokichi & Nagito were both misunderstood.. Those two will always hold a special place in my heart.
ISTG WHEN SHUICHI SAID “you’re alone kokichi no one will be by ur side” I FUCKING CRIED LIKE OMG
U SAW THE PAIN IN HIS FACE IT HURTTTTR 🥺😭
No matter how horrible is his personality, I will always pity Kokichi.
kokichis personality in the game to be honest isn’t even the real him. for an example, the kokichi in the game put up walls of lies surrounding himself since he has extreme trust issues. he had to lie to himself in order to survive, he couldn’t say he actually wanted to help since his mastermind plan would fail. take this for an example, in kokichis salmon mode graduation he specifically says to shuichi “anyways we should keep this relationship going even after we get out of here”
“Even if we get out of here?”
“Because you don’t *actually* know anything about me do you?”
“you wanna get to know the *real* me right?”
that line is what I’m talking about. the fact that he specially said “real me” shows that the personality he had in the killing game is very not kokichi.
AYO WHERES THE HYPE FOR THIS THIS IS STUNNING??
You are KILLING ME 😭 now i have to do some angst art of kokichi to stop crying 🥲
I just finished V3, and you made me love Kokichi more, the song is incredible, but imagining it with Kokichi just

The fact that he was trying to save everyone and end the killing game. The sad part is, is that nobody ever cared about him after his death.

I’m still sad at how all the characters treated him even after he sacrificed himself
God this is so good. It made me love Kokichi as a character even more. Best character in the entire franchise imo. I love him so much!
since i discovered this video i come back literally every day, you have no idea how this lives rent-free in my head,,, i need to print every frame of it fr fr
ahem. yeah i really like to bash on people who dont appreciate Kokichi, he was trying so hard to end the find the mastermind, and end the killing game for good.
Nishishi! :3
I agree with this. I feel so bad for him but no one ever takes his feelings into consideration.
every kokichi amv i see i swear i start to warm up to his character more and i literally couldnt stand him
I swear the first time I watched this I started to cry Kokichi is my favorite character and I feel like he’s so misunderstood or at least a lot of people dislike him mainly for the chapter 4 situation. Kokichi deserved so much better than the hate that was thrown at him.
Best accurate representation of a fictional character award 🏆
this is awesome!! i start to cry at 2:21 because of the words shuichi said to him, all kokichi's doing with his plan this is awesome 😭😭🍇💕💖
yeah, okay, so, I've noticed some stuff now that I've watched it about 3 billion times but I'm gonna point it out anyway!
Then back to light again at 2:41, with 'And I know you think I'm crazy'
So, I'm thinking that the darker color represents what everyone else thinks of Kokichi/what Kokichi thinks of this darker front he's putting on, and the light is what he's truly thinking or what he actually is trying to do. That's just what I think, although I could be very wrong. I'm not great at explaining.
I just think it's a really cool detail and I wanted Jenevy to know that someone noticed!
Why is no one talking about how this song fits Kokichi so much
Guys, I am sorry but I can't believe that they are dead, I just can't accept that kokichi and Kaito are dead, that's why I believe the game was all a simulation like Danganronpa 2.
I almost cried there..... and to think I loved to hate him prior to trial 5....
i finished v3 recently, and it was an incredibly frustrating experience precisely because of everything you captured in your animatic, your art shows everything I saw from his POV and how unfair it was. this is beautiful and well-timed and you are making me sad again.
and the way no one even grieved or visibly thought about kokichi's actions in the game any deeper than the most superficial level was really sad. the amount of confirmation bias everyone had about him, only believing the worst of the things he says because anything else 'has to be a lie' was really sad. especially when they literally have all the facts in front of them, and even after they know he's not a remnant, there's still no sign of 'wow maybe we should reevaluate what we thought of this guy', he's just forgotten and unmissed. every trial he carried them through but there was no recognition of that either.
Strangling is serious, and I doubt that these teenagers would be able to treat him
@@thissaname8949 i mean,,, even if they knew how to treat him, would they even bother? not like they tried when his head was full of blood
with the choking, they pretty much told her to stop only so she wouldn't become the blackened, so maybe they would try (but not /for him/) .-.
@@superjaeeee I know, that’s what I was thinking while typing it
I hate everyone :(
(Not really)
Maki, you could be so much better than this
By not meeting Kaito
And getting a better friend
WOAH??? THIS IS SO UNDERATED WHAT
Thank you xD
CAN I SAY THAT EVERYTIME I STUMBLE UPON THIS I WATCH IT CUZ WHAT A FLIPPIN MASTERPEICE
Oh man I'm surprised people actually don't mind my random long, analysis comments lol... I end up getting carried away when it comes to typing replies and they end up becoming long essays lmao
But thank you so much!
(also, your english is great dude. It's not bad at all)
I literally searched for this, I am so happy it's a thing. This is so well made
Not gonna lie I nearly cried I already loved Kokichi easily my top 5 but goddamn How do you make me love him even more.
No, no no
This isnt fair im crying now whYYYYYY
This is so well done, the expressions, the gestures, the way you depicted plot points and even managed to match lyrics and dialogue, fuck even the technical bits of timing scenes, its all so well done
I hate that i got attached to the character, Kokichi has to be one of the most developed and thought out characters of all in dr from what i know, there's so much to unpack with him though of course with the time he's existed his character and mystery has been ravaged and annihilated through analysis, but that doesn't make him of any lesser value.
You brought me p a i n and I'm not a masochist, but that just means you did amazingly well :'0
Thank you so muchhh (T v T)
I tried.
I'm also glad I was able to show how insanely the lyrics fit Kokichi too lol
Honestly every time I think about Kokichi, I realize more and more about him. God I love him so much.. So I can definitely relate. 👌
YASSSSSSSSSSS I SAW DIAMOND JACK AND THOUGH K O K I C H I THANK YOU SO MUCH!
Bro, I pulled up the OG song on spotify and played it in synch with this video, what a duet. Amazing job!
woah, this song was MADE for kokichi and this animatic just perfectly demonstrates how!!! i LOVE IT!!
O M G! THIS LITERALLY FITS HIS CHARACTER SO WELL! It always annoys me when people say all this horrible stuff about him and never see that he sacrificed himself and that he had good intentions- not be sobbing through this entire video- it's amazing
This is actually perfect.
Every time i watch one of these Kokichi animatics it makes me love this game and his character even more, his presence just makes the game and story of the game way better than it already is. And this made my hart hurt, this video was beautiful.
I'm so glad that I stumbled onto this. I'm just so happy to know that this exists. Thank you. It's so painful to watch but it's very well done
This is so amazing, this represents his character so well! And this shows that there isn’t a true villain in the game, he’s just playing the game how he knows, I’m really glad you made this, because this really shows his character development!
ugh this song fits him perfectly! awesome job
I think I have a weird obsession with this..
I KNEW I WOULD CRY WHEN I CLICKED THIS AND *I CLICKED IT ANYWAY AND NOW MY HEART HAS BEEN S H A T T E R E D*
@@enevy3165 I know it was sad :(
HI HELLO I LOVE KOKICHI SO MUCH THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS YOU ARE COOL
I love him too and thank youuu xD
The talent is this video is A S T R O N O M I C A L
I can't help but love how fan content explains Kokichi's actions better than the actual game does
i saw your comment in nonsense speaker, i agree with you sm, love this
