    I absolutely adore your TBR game, so creative. I look forward to this monthly, as I mainly only watch TBR videos to get great book recommendations. Best of luck with that TBR. My books to read this month are Jade City, The Book of accidents, Spinning Silver and The Kaiju Preservation Society.

    Ooh I love Jane Eyre, I can't wait to hear your thoughts on it. They have yet to make an adaptation I really love, my favorite is the 2006 mini series with Ruth Wilson and Toby Stephens. I also really like the 1943 movie with Orson Welles and Joan Fontaine.
    I can't decide which Bronte novel I like best between Jane Eyre, Wuthering Heights and The Tenant of Wildfell Hall. So much talent in one family!

      Oh, I do hope you love Tress! I had such a fun time with it (mostly because of all the new info about the Cosmere, and because of the point of view we got)!

      @@libraryunbounded The gloomy feels get even better in my opinion 😉🙂 And it makes me so happy you like Jane - I really love her character - she's such a nice contrast to the people around her, so down to earth to the eccentrics around, plus her thoughts are the feminist origin in my opinion - we are all equals no matter our nature 💘 her mindset fascinated me already throughout my first read when I was 12 😊
      The point of view of Tress surprised me for sure, and so far I really like it - also, I have the edition with the illustrations in it and these are beautiful as well 😍

    • @libraryunbounded
      @libraryunbounded  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I'm really looking forward to it, honestly. I've heard so many great things about the second trilogy - it's half the reason I am looking forward to finishing the Farseer Trilogy 😂
      I started it (The Shadow Rising) a few days ago and still in the early stages - 200 pages in or so. To be honest, all this romance is really getting on my nerves! 😅 If it was entirely gone and we could just get on with the end of time and all that, I'd really appreciate it 😂
      But our crew is finally about to split up and do things, so I'm hopeful!

    I just read roadside picnic. I thought it was ok I enjoyed but I don’t see the hype it was well written but I would put as a worth read maybe I missed something of the book what did you think

    • @libraryunbounded
      @libraryunbounded  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I actually loved it. I think it's one of the best books I've read, as a whole.
      Now, before I tell you why, I think it's important to note that I read it in Bulgarian, which is quite close to the original Russian and there are some specifics of the writing style that only work in those languages.
      But beyond that (MILD SPOILERS BELOW):
      First, I think this take on the first contact with aliens trope was quite original, especially considering that the book was written in the late 70s. I think this is one of the few books ever, where the alien "presence" and technology actually felt alien. The treks through the zone were always so eery and creepy.
      I also really liked the way it was told - setting up the scene with an interview and then following a pretty shady guy, who does bad because he wants to be good. Seeing him in the different stages of his life (even if separated by only a few years) was so well done. Kind of like seeing the zone through the life of the people around it.
      The whole human aspect of this bizarre situation was really what won my heart. Being in this messed up reality and having to live with what you've seen - no longer knowing what is normal, just knowing there won't be a "normal" for you ever again. Making terrible decisions and facing the consequences.
      The focus was taken from the big shiny exciting event (the landing of aliens) to the simple ugly tragedy that is left in its wake.
      And I loved this open ending, because anything beyond the point we were shown, would've ruined the realism of it.
      Maybe the book spoke to me because I like depressing books, for the lack of a better word. And maybe I saw in it what I had been wanting to see in other books, without knowing it.
      But no book is for everyone and if you weren't impressed, I can understand completely :)

      @@libraryunbounded that was well put I do think I missed parts of the book I think I will read again next year many thanks for that it made little more sense
