STORM BABET: Stranded Brechin residents rescued as another RED weather warning issued for area

- Councillor and Brechin resident Chris Beattie said some people in the Angus town remain stranded because rescue crews cannot reach them due to the flooding.
He said: “The bottom of the town is under about five or six feet of water.
“People are being rescued and taken to the Brechin rescue centre.
“Some people are stranded - they might have several feet of water to cross to get to the door and at the moment it is not safe to do that.
“Some people are turning up at the rescue centre in soaking wet clothes so we’re asking for donations of things like toiletries and blankets.”
The Met Office has issued another red weather warning in Scotland for Saturday, saying further heavy rainfall could lead to more flooding and disruption.
Some people affected by the floods in Brechin, Angus, may not be back in their homes by Christmas, one local councillor has warned as he said waters in the Scottish town are still rising.
Gavin Nicol said the town’s flood barriers are 3.8m high but the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (Sepa) has warned the water could reach 5m.
He said: “With the amount of rain we’re getting it might even supersede that.
“It’s just a disaster. The water is not going down, it is still rising.”

All these recent floods and landslips in Scotland, have only started in the last few years since the SNP gave permission for over 12 million trees to be felled to build wind turbines.
I think your right, every glen has almost every tree felled and not even mature trees.

Sorry to alert. But wether charts show there could be hours and hours of rain on the way. A significant low is over central England bringing in winds and rain and a degree of uncertainty about what is coming next. Cyclone Oct20th2023 has strong winds north and south of it and drawing those winds with percipitation in to central England over the Penninies. In the South of England the strong winds are blowing east wards from the west where as north of the cyclone is blowing westwards from the east. So which ever way the Cyclone goes, some one some were is going to get it. So all the usual suspects where the rivers flow off the Pennine Hills. So potentially a lot more to come. My charts show continouse rain for the next 18 hours hitting the east central Pennines region. The severest rain has dropped but after that much rain there is likly flooding with the addition of 18 hours of continouse rain.
Good to hear the SNP are throwing everything they can at the situation and providing clothes, food, shelter and accomodation for those who had to abandon their homes with only the clothes they were wearing - NOT.
But Humzy was quick enough to demand the Uk gov set up a refugee rescue scheme to move them to the UK from Gaza. Wonder why !
