This is a segmented speedrun, not first tries. In elastomania you can save the rides (called as .rec files) and make a movie out of them afterwards. This guy was the dominant elastomania player in 2003-2006, after which he hasn't been active. Nowadays there are about ten people with better times than in this video, however, t0r85 is still regarded as one of the most gifted elastomania players of all time. I would estimate it takes about 2000-10000 hours of practice to play the game at the level presented in this video, depending on how gifted you are. Useful traits in elastomania are excellent muscle memory and consistency / concentration, well, I guess just the same as in speedrunning any video game. Elastomania is still being played by hundreds of players, after 14 years. There is an online mod called elastomania online, developed by player called Milagros.
This popped into my head now (downloading as we speak). I got very good at the game and made CRAZY levels in the editor (many hours spent). Looking forward to trying it again.

LoL my childhood I remember how we were bringing floppy disks with times to only guy in school who had internet at home for him to upload our upgraded times to compare them to other speedrunners and we were beating each other in total time xD golden years

Wow! I just got a huge flashback from my childhood playing this game with my bros all crazy! This game was truly epic, hehe I gotta admit I never passed the lvl17.
This game was basically how I spent my entire GCSE IT class, course work took about 10 hours tops, 3 hours a week for 2 school years is a lot of this game. From what I remember our school blocked sites based on words but we could get elastomania as it was on a Spanish site... Same technique used to access adult sites as well. Got to love a time when your average kid had the same Internet knowledge as the IT guys as most people had the same rough starting date on the Internet (95-97ish... At least where I grew up).
Me and my best friend used to play this on his old W95 PC the day befor he went into summer camp. It was a ritual: -) we bought chips from the supermarket -) The Digimon Movie played in the background -) I made some custom levels on elma and played the whole time it was great. I still miss him

I remember that move on the spikes in serpent’s tail was pretty much impossible. I used to be so good in this game but the pain of learning these moves... damn
