I once tried to do that on a rubik's cube. But for my defense, it wasn't to cheat. It was because it was a bad quality one where colors were actually stickers, and tons of them went off, so when I was trying to solve it there was tons of piece where I couldn't know which color it was supposed to be. So I thought about "rebooting" my cube.
I was young though, and couldn't make it work with the material I had at hand.

Fun fact: You can actually succeed to make the cube by repeating same moves over and over again. That's called Devil's Algorithm, and it still remains unknown. It essentially based on rotating the cube until cube having every single state of 43 quadrillion.
