i will never understand how dear evan hansen got more tonys etc. than bandstand... like dear evan hansen is amazing dont get me wrong, and the message is strong, but holy shit bandstand is a masterpiece both musically and acting wise, and the messages about ptsd are so important, and at times overlooked, i cannot express how much i love bandstand and its actors and orchestration and lighting, literally the whole show is a masterpeice.(plus the 2017 tonys also had FALSETTOS? and THE GREAT COMET? so many incredible options with slightly less problematic plotlines.
