    Practical Review is correct, and thank you for it. It's so hard to find straight reviews for budget guitars. They are all "for the price" reviews. "It's good for the price." "Bridge is ok for this price range." etc. I think we know that we're expecting some things to be cheaper made in a budget guitar, but we still want them pointed out in a review. Thanks for doing that.

      Could have been so much better. Atrocious spelling throughout, and not always factually correct. Fretboard is Indian Laurel, not Rosewood. Very soft and not durable. Nut is plastic and has to go, like the tuners. Strings coming from mfg are .09. You did great except for the fact checking and spelling!

    It just goes to show....just because someone calls something ''cheap''....it doesn't mean it's bad. Squiers are very affordable for a good reason. They don't overcharge for the quality. I see so many reviews on the poor tuners on these low end models, which is understandable from a beginners perspective, but, if you learn how to tune them properly, the tuners work surprisingly well. The important part of using the cheaper tuners is to back them down (lower the tune) and tighten them up to bring them up to pitch. You can't tune going down or they will go out of tune right away. The mechanical part of the tuners are a simple gear arrangement. On the cheap ones, the gears are a lower ratio, so it doesn't take much effort to change the pitch. On more expensive turners, the ratio is higher, meaning you have turn more on the peg to get movement on the post, so fine tuning is easier, that's all. Pre-stretch the new strings a couple times and you should be good to go!

      I've never in 20 years had a problem with the tuners on mine.All guitars go out of tune. It's amazing how little tuning I have to do even after sitting around a week on a stand.

    • @frankfarklesberry
      @frankfarklesberry 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That theory would be fine if all the tuners behaved the same from the manufacturer. Unfortunately, it's a crap shoot.

    • @victorboucher675
      @victorboucher675 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      For me, changes in the humidity (in AZ) seem to be the tuning issue. The strings often are tighter! Mine is a 2019, (no bullet id), and it is a hard tail. It has a "bro" , a bullet Tele that I also really love, they take turns, and those two El cheapos are usually what I grab. My "Mod" is a little pencil dust on the nut.
      Am I the only person who fears that the fret metal is rather soft?

    Thorough review!
    Precise, to the point. Goes over all aspects of the construction. Nice job.
    As to the tuners... they are the worst feature on this guitar, and on an older, otherwise excellent Squier Strat that I own.
    Replace them with higher quality tuners for a big improvement.

    Hey i'm just starting to get a bit serious with guitar playing (still a beginner tho) but i've heard so many great things about this guitar. Is this not one of the best for this price range? Or do you feel like there are others that are better suited for beginners? If not what kind of adjustments do you think this guitar should have to make it better and that can be done by a person?

    • @bhla5686
      @bhla5686 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As we know, we can't generalize the preference of each person, so my opinion can't be the answer. I think it depends on your musical preference. If you are interested in classic rock, blues, jazz, bullet can be a good choice. But If you like modern pop or more heavier sound, bullet makes you a little bit disappointed because this guitar has just 21 frets and tuning is unstable, tremolo bridge is not good. If we approach the way of studio session at the beginner level, cort G250 or yamaha pac series is more reasonable, because the parts(tunner, bridge etc) of those guitars are better than bullet. They are built like a tank and maintenance is easier than bullet. But they don't have the soul of fender. Bullet has the soul of fender.
      In my opinion, bullet is cheap but not bad and has the soul of fender. We spend the extra money to change the better parts of bullet. If you want to have a better strat at the low price range, I think the used squier classic vibe can be the answer.

    • @francislison9028
      @francislison9028 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bhla5686 Thanks for giving such detailed feedback, i appreciate it. Well i'm currently digging the pop rock vibe (might sound geeky) but the pop rock sound of allot of japanese bands. I just love their riffs and sound but i wanna make sure to get the right guitar for this. So i'm not sure which of your recommendations would suit this the most? I get this oldschool rock vibe from the Cort G250 but the Yamaha pacifica 112v sounds better for this imo. Would you agree?

    • @bhla5686
      @bhla5686 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@francislison9028 I'm beginner too. I just love the low price guitars, so, I have been using them a lot. I hope you don't trust my idea a lot. In my opinion, the sound between cort and yamaha is not much different. their goal is having a modern spec at low price. The modern spec means humbucker-single-single pick up combination, two point tremolo bridge, smooth tuner, 22frets etc.
      So, you just choose a good looking guitar to your eyes. Which one is better to your eyes? Cort or yamaha? Good looking guitar will make you satisfied. You can change the sound of guitar by amps and effects but you can't change the design of guitar. I think that look good, play good.
      The strongest point of squire is that it is almost same with real fender. We can feel the feeling of the legendary guitar players who use fender stratocaster with squier bullet.
      I think if you are serious about a guitar, you can't stop buying a guitar. You will change your guitar in the future definitely. So, do not think too much, just but good looking guitar, just play for fun, enjoy your guitar until you get bored. And buy another one. It could be more expensive luxury guitar. Why not?

    I bought the white HSS Bullet (HT model) in 2019 and am quite happy with it. The frets on mine seem fine. The (satin finish) neck must be one of the SLIMMEST necks among the Squier Strat models. It seems to stay in tune fairly well. I like the higher output hum-bucker bridge pickup as it helps to stand out in the band for solos and lead parts. I also like that the Squier Bullet is light weight! The hard tail (HT - no whammy bar) means that it's less likely to go out of tune. :-)

    My first guitar was a real 50s tele back in 1999. That said I'm very happy with my 2019 bullet. When it was new the tuners were a little stiff and rough but after a couple string changes they are quite smooth and precise. Neck and frets also need playing to smooth out. The guitar sounds fantastic and stays in tune. I don't use the trem so I decked it.
    I don't play live anymore so this guitar is more than good enough. Most people would never play orofessionally so stop fooling yourself and save some money. Focus on playing not on the instrument.

    Two months ago I took on an '02 Squier Bullet Strat hardtail that was previously painted with a matching headstock and waterslide transition decals, the tuners are tolerable for the time being, the bushings were painted over so I had to clean em up, the string trees were inaccurately flat so I replaced em with a triple string tree and i swapped the plastic nut for a Tusq nut that had wider string spacing. As for the neck, I thought the fingerboard was rosewood as I cleaned it but later discovered that the lighter wood was Indian Laurel and all 21 frets are perfect. The body is a light resonant plywood as I saw in the neck pocket when I removed the neck to confirm the date of April 2002 that was stamped in both the neck pocket and on the neck heel. I replaced the faulty 5-way for an inline 5-way and your ceramic pickups are better than my metal bottom wax sealed SC's that will be replaced with something better but definitely not costly and the cheap pots are 500K Alphas; it's my 3rd Strat and my very 1st hardtail that has a unique resonance that I like!

    What i suppose... bullet is the bestest guitar ever except one thing. The main problem is SSS+basswood configuration. Pups just pick up the vibs from srtings and wood. Single peak frequency is not matched with basswood one. So the sound is scooped. I initially thought that the changes of pickups would help but even better pups are useless if no frequency peaks is found on proper place. So there is no glassy sound in bullet ((( it is more bassy. But there is advantage - solo is not so thin on the bullet and I like it alot.

So it's a bit pointless to say that the components are cheap - what do you expect? What matters is the way it is all put together, and how it plays, and for that you can't reasonably fault the Bullet. Or Squier, for that matter, who truly do a great job. The Jin Ho tuners (a known Korean entity for tuners) are some of their worst. Many come from the factory loose, while others are very tight. Rooster is right. First thing to replace. Put cheap locking tuners on it, and you'll be thrilled with the improvement.

    I bought a used Squier Bullet Strat two months ago. It is also built in 2013 and the color is Fiesta Red, I believe. I paid 80 euros for this guitar. You're right, the tuners are a weak point, which I will exchange. But the guitar feels good, plays easily and sounds very good. A much more expensive Fender Relic Stratocaster sounded not better with a VOX Mini 3 G2 amplifier. Listen to the Squier Bullet Strat:

    I buy these for $50, upgrade them, and hand them off to beginners. Once they are worthy and set up, they are great beginner guitars, especially for small people. They aren't heavy and intimidating, and fun to play. But you need to do the work upfront to make them a pleasant experience. The fret creep on many of them will saw your hand off! Just need some TLC.

      Fender strats telecasters in this range are more than acceptable to buy for the main simple thing that if all you have to really do is buy a $20 set of tuners that are locking your only in for about 140 and you can always do the electronics later on down the road when you get better
