He's bang on! I was at a recent jazz show and the drummer was playing the new masters and they sounded fantastic. After the show I had to ask him what cymbals he was playing and gave me the run down on them. I was blown away, very very musical.
There are a lot of very expensive competitor's cymbals out there that are basically just a lot of 'psssssh' and ZERO personality. These Masters are the truth, man. There's musicality and distinct tone...and you get plenty of 'psssssh' to compliment it. I always say that every cymbal will pretty much sound great to you - until you compare it to a Paiste. Then you go back and play those other ones you were diggin, and all you notice now is everything that's missing.
The most beautiful sounding cymbals in the world, The Dark Energy's and The Masters series..
I tried a Masters 18" to see if it would ride, but ended up sending back to the shop to swap for a DE 18" - the sound was just not quite what I wanted - now I have all Dark Energy, still I've just ordered a 20" Sig Traditional ride and a 13" Dark Crisp HH to see how those fit in to my setup - Paiste have taken over in this house ;-)
Paiste Masters and Dark Energy have a tone and volume to them. So many cymbals (like Meinl Byzance or Zildjan Kerope) offer a dead, soulless tone.
Fantastic! Gregory was a super cool to work with - great guy - ferocious musician. Wow.
I always thought the Masters had totally nailed that Paiste clarity and pristineness, but with a bit of spice sprinkled on top. The new thin models are gorgeous.
"You don't have to be a master to play them, but once you start playing them you might turn into a master."
My playing slightly change when I got a DarkEnergy DarkDry 21.
So it's a bit of a True statement.
I love those Paiste Masters! Fantastic Sound! Really looking forward to get mine soon.
Just got a great deal on the 20 dark ride and 15 dark hats so looking forward to trying them
I think I just found my next set of cymbals. Fantastic
Haleluya! The new masters crash video! A sound washy and beauty, I love it!
I'd like to hear him do some jazz riding on the 22 especially. He played the cymbals in more of a rock context in this video, so I didn't get to hear what I was looking for
You all probably dont give a shit but does someone know of a method to get back into an instagram account??
I somehow lost the account password. I love any help you can offer me
I'm in love with that setup!!!!
Very dark and washy. Professional cymbals right there.
A great cracking sound on the snare.
What’s he using ?
This is how all cymbal demos should be. He hits them in a kit context, with bass drum. It conveys how they really sound...I think.
That 20" is a dream.. I love using 20" crashes as rides simply because if there is just enough stick definition without being over washy, it makes it a much more versatile cymbal, which means less gear to set up and tear down afterwards.. I can see myself using these hats and the 20" on almost all of my gigs and not need anything more.. My vintage Black Label 1st generation 505 crash/ride isn't even labeled as such.. It's simply labeled as a "Medium" and i use it as both ride and crash.. It's more of a multi cymbal, just like these Twenty Masters are, as well as the new Big Beats, and of course, the original multi cymbal line, the Giant Beat..I love all my vintage Paiste cymbals and wouldn't think of using anything else.
Just as Gregory mentioned, the famous Paiste consistency is what drew to me their cymbals.
That, and of course the fact that many of my favorite rock drummers used them..
Paiste = Best cymbals in the world, period ..
Ugggh. I want all of these! 20" crash that you can ride! That's what I have been looking for. Just so Damn pricey.
Search ebay, you can get some great deals on Paiste cymbals that look brand new. I recently got some Traditional Light Rides for under £200.
They do sound incredible ! I would love to demo some. Thanks
had a set of masters dark sold it to get 602 ME set. went back to masters dark.
amazing sound !
great player, and more musical with paiste.....
This avaliable in Brasil now?
Does someone know what snare is he using?
Looks like his Sakae kit. sakae-drums.com/en/products/snares/maple-snare/
beautiful
Great demo.
Would a Masters ride work well with Signature Heavy Full crashes? My setup is all Paiste Sig Heavy Fulls crashes, a Dark Energy crash, and a Traditionals large (swish?). My only Zildjian is the ride. Would Masters work as a ride with the rest of my setup? ...I'm rock drummer, but I like complex rides but not too dark.
cjmst3k the whole paiste line complements each other. so yes, it would work.
Paiste ROOOOOOOOOOOOOOCKS!! SIGNATURES, MASTERS, RUDES, TWENTIES. 'NUFF SAID!
Haven't the twenty series been discontinued?
Yeah but then they introduced the Masters, first as a collection of rides, then they added dark hats and dark crashes. Absolute butter.
Cool.
please make a 19"
I still don’t know how the ride cymbals sounds when it’s not crashed after 12 minutes of playing.
Zildjian k so much better
Does K have the beautiful 22 inch swish cymbal? No I don’t think it does
I’m convinced! If Greg Hutchinson plays Paiste, then they are definitely legit jazz cymbals now. He can play funk and rock also, but he is one of the great straight ahead jazz drummers today. I was able to have a lesson with him in high school, and he helped my playing, especially with brushes
