Love the setup, the tray locking runners and hiding the radio receivers behind the monitors is awesome. I love his battery charging peli. Look forward to seeing finished cart. great video.
Lots of great ideas in here... I like the use of the vertical 19" connector panels on the back and that shelf that pops out on the right side. Really nice uses of space... I'm looking forward to seeing how it turns out.
@@GOLDVIOLINbowofdeath With my own cart build, I noticed that running the connector panels horizontally led to some of the connectors being covered by the frame of the cart itself... so I had to leave a few of the XLR holes blank. Tom's cart has easier access, with the panels being on the outsides.
@@HubLocationSound I don’t see how that could happen in horizontally mounted Rackmount panel but that did happen on this cart design in this video. Is that the only supposed advantage you can see?
@@GOLDVIOLINbowofdeath He loses an XLR mounting hole on each side for that middle cross brace. I suppose he could've gone horizontally on this specific cart since it's so open. My cart has 2 vertical upright beams, which run up against the back and that intersect with my horizontally mounted panel which lives in a removable 19" case. Those 2 'beams' cost me 4 or 5 mounting holes. If I ran them vertically, it'd be less work to reach them. I guess the other supposed advantage here is having the connections closer to the edges - easier to get to from the front of the cart.

I was intrigued with the tilt-ability of the Datavideo EMEA TLM-102 Dual monitor, but a comment from a purchaser on BH Photo website says “it's basically 1/4” too wide for a rack.” It looks like Mr. Williams’ new top for his future cart may be wider than 19” inside the frame and uses custom aluminum plates to reduce down to 19” Rackmount size. I assumed at first it was to give more room for some extra wide, non-rackmounted gear but after seeing that comment wonder if the monitor is indeed too big for 19” rack if that might be another reason. Can someone clarify what the situation is. Don’t want to assume anything.

Actually, he used the term “over sails”, a British? term I am not familiar with, which is probably why I didn’t catch it but it still looks like it would fit in 19” rack so to prevent that assumption he should have mentioned it not only laps over the rack pivot brackets but it is 1/4” too wide or whatever to fit in a 19” rack space. Nobody would ever guess a company would do such a stupid thing as make it a mere 1/4” too wide and those pivoting monitors seem to have quite a premium added to the price. I fear his aluminum tambour idea is going to be prone to collect and trap water if any mist or condensation ever runs down it but it will be unique. I wonder what the eye bolts in the back are for? Actually, they look like chandelier parts.
There is really nothing new about Dante. If you're going to run the Netgear make sure to have a spare handy at all times or run the secondary Dante network. I had 2 fail in warmer environments. Cisco switches are all I will use now.

I'm sure he said at the start that he was able to use larger monitors than usual as they are able to overhang the normal 19 inch width
