I played this one in my childhood in a very very shady arcade place here (I am from Chile, South America. I was like 10 years old at that time and was inmediately hooked to this game because everything was so bright and colorful and loud and the gameplay was not like any other beat em up i had played before, i gotta say that was young but an avid arcade beat em up enjoyer. This arcade joint shuts it's doors like a couple of months after i discovered it and i never could find this game anywhere else again. As i was older I even came to doubt if i really played this game or not, because while growing up nobody ever heard about this game, and i didn't even knew the name of it because it was a japanese rom. Now that i'm in my 30's determined to find it i came across this video and man does it feel good. A wave of nostalgia came to me watching this. Thanks to the guy who uploaded this gameplay

I had never heard of this game until the AVGN showed it in one of his non-regular videos. It looks so fun! I don't know if Irem did any other beat em ups, that genre was pretty much dominated by Capcom and Konami, with Data East also doing a few. I'd love to play this if I could!

The Nerd: This is a special message about something that just changed my life. A game called Ninja Baseball Batman! That is the best title ever conceived by a human being, or an alien, or whoever or whatever came up with this. Ninja Baseball Batman! Just say it out loud! (The Nerd whispers in on the game title) Feels amazing, doesn't it? Ninja Baseball Batman. Just when you hear those three words, all these images rush into your mind of ninjas and baseball and Batman. It hits your brain so hard. It's like whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa! All right. Slow down. I'm okay. Let's see the game.
(Game footage begins as the Nerd is surprised and he takes off the Nerd's glasses as it surprised once again)
The Nerd: Does it live up to the title? It surpasses the title! Even though it doesn't have much to do with ninjas and definitely has nothing to do with Batman, I'm not disappointed. The word Batman simply means a man with a bat. Well, there's more than one so they could have called it Batmen, or they could have just called it Ninja Baseball Players. But no. They knew what they were doing. Calling it Batman was an ingenious marketing ploy. It got me to play and then it hit me in the face with a grand slam atomic bomb blast of video game goodness! It's a beat 'em up game. You just beat the crap out of everything in sight. Evil baseballs, evil baseball gloves, evil baseball bats holding baseball bats, balls that come together and... What the hell? Is that a flying baseball field?! It's a flying baseball field! So yes, this game is definitely baseball related. And if you can call it a baseball game, it's the best baseball game ever. Oh my God, I'm getting run over by an airplane. Now I'm inside the plane and guess who the boss is. An airplane. I'm fighting an airplane inside of an airplane! There's also a truck with blue lips, a slot machine going berserk. Furniture flying all over the place and spiky wheels being pushed by cats on skateboards being pushed by little green things. I'm getting attacked by refrigerators, a magic electric vulture Jack-o'-Lantern Grim Reaper. And this thing, I can't describe it. I just can't. And the final boss is like some kind of cyborg version of Babe Ruth. There's a lot of good beat 'em up games like the Simpsons and Turtles in Time, but this one is totally underrated. Why wasn't this a huge success? Well, it only existed in the arcade and it never came out on a home console. Wow, they really dropped the ball on that one. Supposedly, only 43 arcade units were shipped to North America. That is sad.
(Back to the Nerd on-screen, which is kinda feeling worried)
The Nerd: The world needs to know about Ninja Baseball Batman. But right now, the only way to play it is on an emulator. Or if you happen to have access to one of the arcade units. No, this needs to come out again on a home console or better yet, Xbox Live! Ninja Baseball Batman! Ninja Baseball Batman

Press tab in MAME, go to dipswitches, change it from 2 to 4 players and reset the game.

The music sounds WAAAAAAY off. What emulator were you using?
MAME++ 0.119. It's a version from 2007, while this was played in 2011, although I couldn't have used a much newer version than that. For MAME Kaillera netplay, I can only go up to version 0.135, and I haven't yet compared the music in that to 0.119, or the latest version of MAME.

I assumed having a full team (or 4 players) in this setting would make the longplay shorter but it still goes at the same length roughly if it were 1 player only. Why is that?
Haven't looked more into this game specifically, but I believe that usually in this type of game, there are more bad guys with 4 players and the bosses take more hits.
Do you have a 60fps version of this video?
I still have the original replay file, which means I technically could make a 60fps version. However, if I was going to make another video, I would rather just play again, since there were a few things I didn't know at this time.

In the dipswitch setting, you can change it from 2 to 4 players. It's not a separate rom.

I can't link directly to the game, but you can find it if you google "nbbatman.zip". You would need MAME to run the game.

It's not that I didn't know how. It's just not something I bothered with. Note that I did have to adjust the dipswitches to change this game from 2p to 4p. It would have been no problem to also turn on freeplay if I actually cared about it.
Ah, I see. It can be a pain in the ass to do it every time you launch the game, but I know some versions of MAME save the settings after you do it once.
When it comes to playing a game online like in this video, all dipswitch settings need to be sent to the other players by resetting the game. Still, that doesn't make it all that inconvenient to change it to freeplay in addition to changing the game to 4p. It's just, as I said, not something I saw as a big deal to change.
Weird this version music is different than the one I have played.
This was played on an older version of MAME. I believe the music was fixed not too many versions after this one.

I don't think there is a different rom for that. Check your cabinet type in dipswitches.

Your rom is already the 4 player version, but you need to change the cabinet type from 2 player to 4 player. To do that, just press the tab key to open the MAME menu, go to dipswitches and change the cabinet, and then reset the game (F3).
I'm trying to run this on fightcade is that possible? if not what program are you using?
It doesn't look like this is a game that is supported by FightCade. I was using MAME++ 0.119.
