Would love to see an update on this. Does it have the same IPS categories as the UDM-Pro or SE? With the controller being separate, does it actually run any faster?
Hi Cody, good video like always. I have some questions for you. I'm looking for a better firewall than the UDM Pro, is the UXG Pro better for this? I have a Windows server where I run a Unifi Network Controller for 25 sites, could I use a UXG Pro for each site?
Maybe I’ll do a video on migration. I just didn’t want to using my hostifi production server as I have client on it and there are some bugs in the 7.x.x series
can I use [Dream Machine SE UDM-SE] instead of the UXG Gateway? the UXG lacks the [UniFi application suite for device management] and the [Integrated 8-port PoE/PoE+ switch]... or am I missing something?
I know this is stupid but what's the difference between this and the dream machine SE? And also what's the difference between a dream machine SE and cloud key?
Running 7.2.95 Unifi network part of the app. We're using a cloud key generator, and a UXG. Is there any way to actually get into the firewall's GUI or does everything have to be managed through cloud OS? If so it seems like the options are really dummed down? Can't help but feel like we're missing a huge step here in configuring the firewall, and being able to edit all sorts of features...

ARGGGGGG nobody's showing those IPS/IDS performance! Even if you have only Bell's Gigabit connection, it would be nice to see it. I'm sure it's better than the USG-4-Pro and its 250 Mbit/s throughput.
Can NAT be disabled on the UXP Pro? I have router connecting to the Internet doing NAT and don't want double NAT. Not being able to disable NAT was the reason I didn't buy a UDM Pro and stuck to my USG-PRO-4.
Same processor, same wan ports (1g copper, 10g sfp), can't run apps or controller, doesn't have the built-in 8 port switch, and costs $120 more than the Dream Machine. I'm not seeing the use case for this device at all.
@@MactelecomNetworks Sure, and if it was the same price or slightly cheaper, that would make sense. Marking it up 25% for less features makes no sense at all.
@@Elkadetodd It's best for MSPs like Cody who want their clients to have a managed network and not an on-prem controller and console that you're remoting into, in different ways. It's also good for multiple sites that need to be centrally managed by IT, when you have 10, 20, 30 locations you want each site to be remotely managed that you can easily push configs and changes onto plus the ease of creating site to site VPNs. You'd again rather not have a console at each and every site, when you can have it all central like other firewall and branch routing devices out there. Both of these use cases are not price sensitive and will in fact pay more if it means having the proper solution.
@@Elkadetodd what Ken said. It's way easier for us MSP's that oversee managed networking, especially when you have clients that like to tinker with things and call you every other week to come in and fix their network. Sure, the money is good, but after the 4th or 5th time the annoyance supersedes the money. I have 3 of these USG's being delivered in a couple day and was lucky to snag another 4 before they got sold out and all but 1 is presold and will be going onsite.
@@yourpcmd I see the case, I just don't like the price point. So I'll keep deploying Dream Machines at my clients. Because they ARE price sensitive. If I just wanted to milk them for cash, I'd be using Meraki.
Unifi Security Gateway - Client Support 100 Unifi Security Gateway PRO - Client Support 1,000 Unifi XG Gateway - Client Support 20,000 Unifi UXG Pro - Clinet support ? Can you help me with the amount of clients supported to Unifi UXG Pro?
Yes, but i was curious if ubiquiti added the mgmt vlan option to the uxg, like you can set a different mgmt vlan on their switches and aps. thanks for your reply
I'm sorry, but I cannot in any way understand how Hostifi is worth paying for. At a bare minimum, you're spending $1,200 a year for someone to host a tiny Debian VM for you. I don't see any benefit compared to just self hosting this, or using your own VPS in the cloud.
to be 100% transparent I do not pay for my hostifi account ( I was for months) but then they offered it to me for free. The do testing and then the updates before pushing any controller versions so for people not well versed in Unifi its a great service

Problem with being two years in early access, the world has moved on.

@@MactelecomNetworks Thanks Cody, that would be great. I’ll be migrating from UDMP to UXG + CKG2.
Ahhh, a fresh cup of coffee and a Cody movie to start the day off :)
Why doesn't UI enable training to 2.5Gbps on SFP+ on everything?
Not sure 🤷♂️ have to ask them would be nice to have though
Nice Cody. I want it. Wonder when it will be available to the UI Canadian store? Thanks for the review.
Hey,
No clue they don’t give us that info. You can order from the states and use a freight forwarder to get here. But cost quiet a lot of money

Does the UXG Pro support 1-1 NAT configs?
Not an expert here, may i know if there is no internet can we still access uxg?
Nicely done! Thank you!
Does the UXG-Pro support multiple WAN IP's like the UDM-Pro?
Does Ubiquity do application blocking and web filtering yet?
I know this is stupid but what's the difference between this and the dream machine SE?
And also what's the difference between a dream machine SE and cloud key?
And does the dream machine SE do the same thing that the gateway professional does, and does it also do the same thing with the cloud key does?
Thanks for share, i need see DPI dashboard, can you show it

Can one use the UXG pro in a UISP deployment?
In stock in Europe store now

Home router , two access point and two camera plus door bell. You are set. Large network home
can you use it with the UDM as a controller?
Nope not that I’m aware of. Initially I thought this was to be paired with the UDM pro but that’s not the case
Do you have any idea how many VLANs it is possible to configure on a UXG-PRO? I need 120 VLANs
120 vlans what the actual heck
Can you use the UNVR instead of the cloud key with this??
no
I found the ubnt cloud pricing starting at $30 a month for upto 500 ubnt devices.
That’s not terrible tbh
@@MactelecomNetworks Hopefully it doesn't take business away from hostifi.
I did it the easy way. Dell R210ii for $120 from eBay, 2 SSD's, and host the controller myself.

Being able to add more devices ( APs) really. Some people also don’t like having the controller built in

Is there a way to make clients resolve by hostname on Unifi OS? Seems like everything only resolves by IP and never hostname!
wOOOOooo
FYI, this channel did the benchmark.
UXG's throughput with IDS/IPS is around 3.5Gbps as well.

So basically UXG is pointless? Literally a stripped down UDMP for 130 USD more?
@@jay-uo2biit’s got POE, faster wan throughout/ports, and works with network application rather than UISP, so it’s a completely different product.

The uxg has not controllers on it so really doesn’t need as much ram however probably should have at least the same
