    Thanks for the video, Great track that conveys a good feel of what the Arturia sounds like! I checked out the MicroFreak a couple of months ago at a local store and thought at the price it was a no brainer to get it. However, it sounded like there was some sort of cassette tape emulation coloring the sound. Which, of course can be nice but somehow also narrows the possibilities if its "always on". I the end I didn't buy it. Would be nice to see this in an 80ies kind of track or mixed with chip tune sounds!

    You’ve got the glitchy/bouncy vibes down. A growing edge that I think could be interesting for you to explore would be to add in some defined chord progressions that allow for more potent emotional expression and memorable melodies. I think that contrast added into your current sonic repertoire would be powerful. Just a thought though, love your work!

    • @truecuckoo
      @truecuckoo  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks mate. Yeah loop and glitch vs longer format is a constant struggle. I love free form improv on the piano, but as soon as I write things down it’s easy to fall into simplified loops. I’m interested in this too.

    Love the video, and all your video's and music in general (just bought your stuff on BC, great music) but couldn't help noticing a problem I had in my setup: the Microfreak is out of phase. It happens when you're using a Y cable straight into the stereo audio interface. Invert the phase of either the left or right channel and the problem is solved. If it's on purpose (which can be the case), never mind my comment. :-)

  • @happytosh2965

    You are using balanced out to stereo. That imakes an interesting wide stereo-effect from a mono-synth!

    • @truecuckoo
      @truecuckoo  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The wide stereo is a result of the signal chain I set up on the Apollo. I remic’ed the sound with that Mic plugin you see here and there, and perhaps went a bit overboard there, hehe.

      Tutorials, lots of experimenting, and try to use at least modestly decent over-the-head headphones to make sure you can actually hear what it's up to.
      Not that I really know what I'm doing, I have next to no music background (grade school) and yet I bought one because I couldn't resist its versatility for sound, only tested out making some SFX so far but just playing with it is giving my ideas for tunes to (try) to make.
      It's a odd device with so much stuffed into so little space you just gotta let loose and "play" with it before really trying to make anything, don't feel pressure to make music, just start with some fun sounds!
