How to Wear a NATO | Don't Cut the Strap! Alternative Method

  • Put those scissors down! I'll show you how to alter a NATO watch strap without cutting or damaging it. If the little flap at the end of the strap bugs you, or you don't like how high a traditional NATO double-pass strap feels or looks, this alternative method to wearing a NATO style strap may be for you. We'll convert it to a single pass strap without cutting. I've found that I like the look and comfort of this alternative method better, and I don't lose any of the benefits or features of the traditional way of wearing a NATO strap on my watch.
    If you found this video helpful or entertaining, please give a thumbs up and subscribe to the channel! Thanks - Witt

    I tend to try this method first and either stick with it if it wears comfortably and looks good or cut the extra piece off to convert to a single pass! Anyway, very clearly explained that’ll be useful to many nato wearers!! 👍

      Yes! There’s no wrong or right. It can wear differently due to watch, strap, and wrist. I like your method!

    The best way ever , I bought a nato strap with adaptors for my dw5600 , I tried different styles but this is the best !

      I like it too...but it depends on the strap and watch!

      I'll usually try the traditional method first and if I don't like it, switch to this. Glad you made it comfy!

    It's amazing how the second layer of nato strap raises the watch 1/2 inch off the wrist.

      Perfect for smacking doorknobs!

    I haven't tried a NATO strap yet but I'm going to do it just to see but they kind of look like a pain in the butt

      Honestly, they're not my favorite or go-to, but I'm really starting to appreciate them and enjoy wearing them on the weekends for more casual pairings. I've also found that I can get away with watches that are usually too small for me, if I wear the strap the traditional way, since the extra bulk beefs it up a little!

    This method just turn a bulk strap more bulk. Scissors rule, these straps are cheap and easy available.

    • @WatchWitt
      @WatchWitt  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      True. I think it's better for those that prefer to hide the hardware under the wrist, though. And if you watch to the end, I mention that if this method doesn't work for you.....then cut it! 😂

    Neither method is very comfortable on wrist. I still find it best to cut the third loop.

      For me, it depends on the strap and the wrist. I usually start with traditional then try this if that wasn't "good."

  • @DavidSchwartzjr
    @DavidSchwartzjr 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yes! I like this method a lot especially with thicker case dimensions because it wears more slim on the wrist! Great tips and tutorial! Also, that watch looks awesome! What brand/model is that?

    • @WatchWitt
      @WatchWitt  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I DO like the way the hardware looks on the traditional method, but still prefer this method. And it's more comfy, too. That's my Jerome Lemars JL4677. Looks great on any strap! th-cam.com/video/J_UgI2DUC48/w-d-xo.html

    With this method, having the holes near the watch case, it could be good even for very small wrists! 🔝

    • @WatchWitt
      @WatchWitt  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Absolutely! Some don't like the look of the holes near the case, but I think it gives it a tool-y look...with the right strap.

      @WatchWitt Can I know what brand is the strap and what size is it?

    • @WatchWitt
      @WatchWitt  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @andreavela1433 This came on an Oschtin watch I bought on AliExpress. It's a nice seatbelt style double pass. th-cam.com/video/KEclkUISeqI/w-d-xo.html

    Glad you kept the tutorial short. Funny way to end your video but in your case if you cut that second layer and move the watch closer to the clasp in order not to see the holes you will end up with that little flap still up there to annoy you :)

    • @WatchWitt
      @WatchWitt  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, sometimes lug to lug, wrist size, and strap length don't cooperate with each other! 😂

      @@WatchWitt exactly. Still NATO straps are very comfortable, durable, decently priced and practical. Their only drawback is the fit. I enjoyed your video.

    1:45 that part rly depends on your preference and size of your bracelet.

      …and the lug to lug of your watch, and your wrist size, and all these things combined! Yes, just an alternative to try for those that weren’t aware. Sometimes this method adds too much bulk to the underside.

      Best, again in my opinion, is to thread the main strap through the 3rd loop and then put the watch onto the free single piece. 😊
