Totally.. Warren stole the “George Lynch Vibrato” lol… but Warren helped him a lot learning some cover songs when George was trying out for I forget which band…
@@colinsexton1929Lol 😅, George actually got all kinds of tips from Warren on how to break things up and make a quick decision that matters, like George said, "I just wasn't really into coverage for different types of styles and Warren helped me out big time" and learned how to do things your saying except backwards. But of course both just play different, I think Warren is actually technically better, but George is awesome with his own style.
Ya I just remember reading a George Lynch interview in Guitar Magazine back in like 1987 and George was asked about Warren using his vibrato and George said "He ripped me off that f***" lol@@DiMarzio-Tone
You try copying George’s vibrato...lol George’s vibrato is the stuff of legend. Arguably his greatest gift or blessing that truly distinguished him, was Lynch’s wide smooth and natural vibrato that caught the attention of many great players and tons of fans.
One of most underrated player. His solos are tasty, flashy and melodic as hell. Too bad he's not getting much attention outside of hard rock/heavy metal fans
WARREN IS A GUITAR GOD ABSOLUTE LEGEND. RATT really started rolling in 84 when I was 16 in highschool. Warren will always be one of my favorite guitarist of all time. Pure talent solid musician.
Love it! DeMartini doesn’t seem to get as much attention as he deserves, but he was the real deal. You sound incredible too, BTW. Thanks for the lesson
Amazing playing, amazing insight, love Warren Demartini and George Lynch! I always steal from their licks. I LOVE your Kramer guitar and that unbranded banana headstock guitar in the background!

Thank you so much! Yes I remember reading that also that he was influenced initially by Pete Townsend and you can definitely hear a Holdsworth influence also. Thanks so much for watching!
Cool stuff Bill. Warren is a huge influence: great sound and phrasing in his playing. Lay It Down, Give It All and Between the Eyes from Invasion, Body Talk, Take A Chance and 7th Avenue from Dancing Undercover, What's It Gonna Be and What I'm After from Reach for the Sky. Of course, Im Insane, Back for More, In Your Direction and Youre in Trouble from Cellar are just great ripping and tasty solos. And I could go on. Listen to the fade out of Dangerous But Worth the Risk from Invasion. Just cool youthful angst and stretchin out of his playing. Thanks for your vids. And yes RIP EVH. Devastating.
It would be awesome if you did a full series on Warren where you slow down a bit more and break down even more of his technique..you've really captured all the unique nuisance in his phasing like no other on TH-cam (like you did with 8th note and 3 triplets..) Incredibly useful ..thank you. Definitely a big demand for MORE!!
Excellent dude! I owned a Kramer just like that! Brings me back to the 80s. Yes, Warren has so much style. His phrasing puts him heads and shoulders above most players. His nickname is Torch. One thing I wanted to mention about Cellar is that the jump in production quality between the EP and Cellar is just tremendous. Cellar is still a pretty great sounding album. All of Warren's leaders were done with a Rivera era 18 watt Super Champ through an Orange cab with an EV. The rhythms were all both Warren and Robin through a boosted plexi. They used this same amp on Invasion, along with a Laney or two. I think the leads were all Laney. Dancing was mostly a Soldano SLO. Warren did use metal picks and gauge 10 Ernie Balls. He stopped using the metal picksu when he kept breaking the wound strings, A in particular, by the second or third song.
Hello, Angus! Yes... Warren was definitely one of the best players from that era and so underrated! I love his playing... he has such amazing phrasing and tone! Thanks so much for the great info and thanks so much for watching!
Thank you, Mike! I love Warren's playing so much also. I actually have a few other Warren videos on my Channel here...I will be doing others in the future also. Thanks so much for watching!
What I like about Warren is that you didn't have to really breakdown a rhythm just to feature his solos. Van Halen did that quite a bit and it kinda disturbed the flow I'd the song. But with Warren he could pretty much solo over anything.
Fine playing and great sound. Thanks for these videos. I was in 8th grade on the 3rd row when Ratt came through town (out of the cellar). Is that an Exxxx series Baretta? Looks just like mine.
Great playing dude! Your sound is killer and your chops do it justice of course. Any pedals there of just the Blackstar combo? Thank you so much for sharing- big DeMartini fan here as well.
Really cool stuff, Bill. Looking forward to pt 2! I’ve always wondered what caused the exponential growth in Warren’s playing between the ep and OOTC. Maybe he just practiced a lot - lol. I feel the same way about George Lynch between Breaking The Chains and Tooth and Nail.
Thank you, Scott! Yes...both Warren and George made a huge leap forward from their debuts! I imagine it was a combination of practicing and also playing a ton of gigs and sort of finding that voice on the instrument. When that happens everything clicks and takes off. Thanks so much for watching!
