This is a VERY good idea! At this point, I won't get into it, but I wish it was available decades ago. And as I'm now in my 71st year, I well remember the mailings from the magic dealers. Reading those descriptions and allowing my imagination to run wild was what made going out to the mailbox a highly anticipated activity!
Here’s another idea: You can use these for a custom “ESP” routine with custom words/shapes/images instead of the traditional circle, square, wavy lines, etc. And if you start with the cards blank, go though a OAP routine, then use what was written on the cards from the OAP routine to do an ESP routine, apparently on the fly and with their answers…it would slay. That’s kind of a one-and-done, (depending on the answers written during the routine), but I bet it would be worth it for a well paying, reputation building gig, or to secure a bigger corporate gig for sure!
Great review. Liked that you chatted briefly about how it was when you were a kid. Link here to a video that thought you might like if you have not already :)
Additional step to making sure your marking the right card is to draw on post-it notes and stick them to the face of the cards and then perform the trick before re-drawing on the actual card faces
Good ole Hank.. I was working at convenience store during high school. I would take a bit of my pay each week, ride to Boston and spend a few hours at Hank Lee’s. Mostly would buy 1-2 books each week.. or watch the guys demo the latest and greatest as you would say.
Ha! Hank Lee’s. He got so much of my money. It’s too bad about all the stuff that happened. I used to have a stack of those catalogs. Wish I still had a few.
Oh wow! I didn't even know about this "stuff" that happened until just now and looking him up out of curiosity 😬... Used to go to his shop regularly back in the days
Hard to believe this hasn’t been done before lol. Marks are a bit bold but I need and like bold but our tribe will likely complain 😁 This begs a black sharpie mixed with a red sharpie. I had catalogs from Perfect Magic in Canada. I bought some great stuff I bought a lot of stinkers lol.
Here is Lloyds Incredible trick he calls His BEST EVER creation. Somebody mentioned it and i wanted to share the video from his channel. Its VERY sneaky and uses Cognito, Maxim, and Dex.....One of which i own. Might just need to get the other two just for this effect.
In 2012 he was sentenced to two years in prison for a nearly two-year fraud where he charged $560,000 on a customers credit card and then mislead investigators. He was also required to pay restitution to the victim
Sadly, I had pre-paid for orders that were never fulfilled from Hank Lee. Not even 1% of the poor soul who got scammed out of $560,000 but still a sad tale.
Not exactly dry-erase, but I have been fooling around with FriXion erasable pens. Your mileage may vary, but that ink actually endured (i.e. did not smear) better than a sharpie marker on the cards I got (not the cards reviewed here). They have the added fun of if you heat up the card - I used a 167-degree coffee warmer for expediency - they go invisible. Stick it in the freezer, and the color comes back. Just be careful not to press too hard that you leave an impression. People more creative than myself could probably do something cool with it.
Marking the back has never been a problem. It’s getting a good design on the face that is the real challenge. For example, I wanted to do an ESP match up effect with well known punk band logos (Dead Kennedys, Ramones, Misfits, Black Flag, Bad Religion..etc) and had a terrible time trying to make the cards. I hear what you are saying about drawing/ having someone draw on the card face, but if you’ve ever really tried to put a design on the face of a card you will know how badly the cards get warped when one does that. It’s fine (for the most part) if one just writes simple words or symbols with a fresh sharpie, but multiple colors and a saturated design…nope. If one were a Da Vinci caliber artist and one tried to simply just re-create a red queen, one would wind up with a super warped card. At least in my experience. Some of you may have a technique that works. If you do, please tell me because I’d love to know.
Great memories David. I remember thumbing through, Hank Lee, Abbot's and Tannen's catalogs for hours on end. Good stuff!
Those were the days!
I still have those catalogs! Fun to look thru.
I remember them too!

yup
What is OAP? If I could ask you.
one ahead principle
Lloyd barnes has an effect with a marked blank deck for a thought of acaan on his channel - a video named "My BEST Creation EVER! (TUTORIAL)"
I’ll check it out, thanks!
Think I still have one of Hank Lee's War and Peace catalogs!
wow
Great idea.
You can’t go wrong with blank marked decks.
Great review. Liked that you chatted briefly about how it was when you were a kid. Link here to a video that thought you might like if you have not already :)
👍👍👍
I kept a Hank Lee catalog just for old time sake. Some early memories. This is an interesting tool for sure. What can you create. Thanks David
you're welcome

Good tip
So true what you said the first couple of minutes!!! and the tricks were explained as the best magic miracle ever.
so true
Hi David, great review with some awesome suggestions! Thank you so much for all you do! Your friend, David
Thanks, my friend!
Hi David, Thanks for the review...
Any time
I have been using a blank deck for my ambitious card and card to Wallet for years. People love it.
awesome

I am over 70. I usually bought inexpensive magic $5-$10.
me 2
Aha moment, UV marker and light. Spectator thinks you’re a dumba55 until the reveal. Thanks David.
🤣🤣🤣
Good idea 💡
it is !!
Ha! Hank Lee’s. He got so much of my money. It’s too bad about all the stuff that happened. I used to have a stack of those catalogs. Wish I still had a few.
I bet you could find them on ebay

This would also be useful for folks using a stacked deck.
It definitely could be!
Heres an idea. Blank deck of cards: $10. Blue pen to create your own markings $1.
yep
can somebody send the link to the pen?
@@abhisheky7981 heartbeat at elusionnist 😅
Takes too long tho, I can make $10 faster than it takes to sit down and mark my whole deck (not a flex btw).
Wanted one of these for ages. All the blue pens I find are SO SHINEY

It's a great concept!
Cool 😊😊😊

Hi David please do a deck review on piff the magic dragon’s “Piff’s personal pack playing cards” thank you 😊 keep up the good work 👍🏻
Great suggestion!
I remember the old magic catalogs. "Use any silk!" Translation: It doesn't come with the silk. 😂
🤣🤣🤣
Btw, what happened to Hank Lee?
In 2012 he was sentenced to two years in prison for a nearly two-year fraud where he charged $560,000 on a customers credit card and then mislead investigators. He was also required to pay restitution to the victim

Higher price for less ink 🤷♂️
Thanks David 👍👍
and marked
Or you could buy a Phoenix blank face marked back deck for 12€. It's been around for years.
it has numbers and letters?
@@magicorthodoxy Nope. Regular readers marked deck with a one way design.
Marked decks cost $10. So these are twice the price for half the ink?
it’s not about the ink
Be nice for that price,if you could use a wipe clean marker...
that would not be good for shuffling or having cards touch each other

i mean technically, couldn't you buy a blank deck, mark it itself & possibly shave one side down(to make it a stripper deck) for way cheaper?
yes ....you could also cook your own steak, but sometimes its more fun to go to a restaurant

great comment
If You don't know how to draw. You can print anything in sticker paper and paste it
True, but then you're stuck with stickers. 😉
I think the markings here are way too obvious, personally.
marking are always obvious when you're told in advance that it's marked
Cool but way too pricey.
It's a good one though.
@@magicorthodoxyI do like it
Lol “glorified unboxer”. 😂😂😂
i've been called worse
@@magicorthodoxy nobody i know would. You’re pop culture to me. Except i never win your givaways. 😂😂😂
