So basically they could have sold a M3 priced car that'll match a Zonda around the track but didn't because reasons?
Yeah I don't get it either. It's clearly capable and engineered well, so if funding were an issue, I'm certain people would be willing to pre-order it to allow for production. It's not like they manufactured all the parts themselves anyway.
Anti-lag isn't in street vehicles because of the greatly increased stress on the engine. WRC teams used it because they had the funding and means to replace an engine every 500 miles.
Where's The Waffle Iron?! The Evo 7 - 9 came with antilag as standard though.

Newer Hyundai turbo models make good use of Anti-Lag. Besides, that’s not the only factor in advanced stress on race engines compared to standard road cars.

No. Prodrive make rally cars. Mainly Subaru WRC cars, so they just applied their knowledge about turbo engines and AWD witchcraft and made this as an engineering exercise.

Totally agree, very stupid move. Even though I don't find it very pretty, I do think it has a very special look and I would buy one for sure if they would've put it in production. This is one of my dream cars.

It doesn't appear to be have been any revolution. Rather a rally car without some homologation limitations. I'm not surprised they did not launch it. Hand-making is extremely expensive, mass production even more (remember even Mitsubishi resigned from making the legendary Lancer Evolution, before them Lancia resigned from Delta Integrale). They probably made it just for advertisement.

The Anti-lag is basically a system that minimizes turbo lag in a car. How it works, is it arranges for fuel and air to be in the exhaust duct past the engine, before the turbocharger.
And the cars rear differential works by applying power to the wheel that need the most in the way of movement, it's called, spin-slip. The power that the front diff gets its controlled by the center diff. The car will sense itself starting to slide, and the computer will tell the center differential to split the torque between the front and rear axle. This system works so fast that it can change how fast one wheel spins in the middle of a corner

It's flutter actually. Surge is on acceleration, and is bad. That's the impeller stalling on the backed up pressure. Perfectly safe unless it's on acceleration, which is bad.
Generic Memes turbo flutter is caused by compressor surge.
*Open* throttle compressor surge is fine while *closed* throttle compressor surge is bad

This car was genuinely ahead of its time. Styling and everything.
What the man explained was brought first time on the mitsubishi Evo .
It's called YAW control ,and it manages to send power to individual wheel by measuring g force and steering angle ,while ecu manages to read wheel rotation and send power to wheel that spins slower.
In a small say is the perfect 4wd system in the world with nearly 80% split of power between axels.
IMO the 919 Evo perfected the AWD system. Torque vectoring rear diff, electric torque vectoring front diff, 100-0 to 50-50 instantaneous split due to the electric motors. On a circuit, you really need to ability to send all power to the rear at some point, and there are basically no instances where you'd need more power to the front than the rear on a circuit.

Why does it have to match the R8? I don`t buy a car because it`s faster than the R8... Or the Huracan... Or the F12 Berlinetta. I buy it because I like its design and stuff. So - don`t blame me because you can see only black or white and nothing inbetween ;)
BleedingBambi well, they're completely different cars, and their levels are completely different. Prices are different, points are different, functions are different.
R8 is a supercar, this is a small fast coupe (with a Subaru engine).
P2 is nothing like R8. And vice versa.
And that's why I'm telling you that R8 is a much better car. Much better built, much better put together, much prettier, faster, and handles better as well.

@@dedasdude the dump valve(blow off) canot open in sequence....it's opened by the vacum, that sound is indeed the wastegate,imagine the wastegate is openeded and full throttle at '1bar', when he lifts the first wave of the turbo chatter bounces to '1.5' bar, and thats because the dump valve is not open, because he has antilag, wich needs to bypass air into the manifold when the throttle is closed (it's done by a throttle kicker or through the idle valve)
isn't realy the wastegate though, it's a blow off valve.
it's function is to release exessive pressure from the inlet when the trottle is smacked shut.
a wastegate does the same for the exaust, only that is done in hi revs and sometimes under maximum exeleration.
antilag is squirting extra fuel in the exaust and igniting that and/or retarding the ignition so much the fuel burns thrue the exauststroke. this keeps the turbo spinning between shifts to reduce turbo lag.
lets say prodrive actually was succesfull... could you imagine buying a supercar called.. prodrive, jesus

Despite the unimaginative name there's a lovely engine in there coupled with a pretty advanced drivetrain, plus it also looks rather interesting. So it's kinda like your channel except there's something in there in a Prodrive.

its not a supercar.. they said it would run for about $50,000. which aint supercar money, but it does do supercar speeds.

It's an Audi TT with a spoiler and a Holden Commodore front end, and a Subaru engine. Right.
Many modern (and some not so modern) production cars have turbos... straight from factory. many of which have blow off valves (aka: wastegates) and they DO infact pass air quality inspections. A wastegate simply regulates pressure to keep your turbo from building unlimited pressure and blowing itself up. I say this because my car is turbocharged, it does have a BOV and I do live in an area where air quality tests are manditory once per year and I've been passing since 2007

The Banbury Prodrive factory is surprisingly small, considering how many Aston Martin race cars they produce there now. I think the factory size would be one of the main reasons they never wanted to produce it, along with their actual reasons

No it isn't. The waste-gate controls how much exhaust goes through the exhaust turbine. This modulates the pressure that the turbo generates. The blow-off valve releases pressure in the piping between the turbo and the intake. This prevents stalling the turbo, since in its absence, there would be a boost spike when the throttle is closed and the air would force the compressor to a stop so it could escape.

Basically to what I understand, how this traction control works, is that the computer puts the power down to the specific wheels that will help you make the turn, the steering wheel is what tells the computer how sharp the turn is, giving a % of power to the specific wheel!
Yes you're correct, it's not a wastegate. And yes, dump valve is the same as a blowoff valve.
The other option is they could be using recirculation valve instead of a blow off which often accounts for the squirrel sound.

that squirrely sound is compressor surge from the closed wastegate and then the ALS system fires up and pushes hot gas into the turbo, all with the throttle closed.

it is the bov, because the wastegate is used to limit the turbines revs on full throttle. look at wiki to get a full clue.

Prodrive are actually well known, and antilag is really straight forward to understand.
I don't mind seeing these cars, but this edition of TG had a Stig lap too, some of these clips have them, others left them out. Why?

1: anti lag realy kills ur engine very fast
2: that sick sound from the wastegate is also not good for the turbo unless its external
if u want one of these get an sti and mod it up with a bigger turbo and with anti lag

It's really a damn shame they arn't putting this into production. I mean all of this awesomeness for just 40,000 pounds! WOW! But what's the point of even providing a projected price if they know it isn't going into production in the first place?

A stripped out, track focused, two-seater,one-off, concept car, made by the Subaru world rally team, putting in a good time around a track.
Or, a bog standard Mitsubishi road car with 5 seats and a 3 year warranty, being only half a second slower.
