this is so good! totally different vibes from the original, it totally fits with your other music. love the little "Woo!". the chorus and ending too, so good 😤🤌
You know a band is amazing when they take another band's song and make it even better (no disrespect to Lovejoy, they are great) You did with this song what Nirvana did to "The man who sold the world", what the Rolling Stones did to "Sympathy for the devil", or what Chris Cornell did to "Nothing Compares to you"
So after hearing this I sought out the original … this blows it out of the water, IMHO. Great great job. I’ve heard the analogy that a good cover is like a good movie sequel. It has enough of the elements of the original to be familiar, but is also different enough to be its own thing. The worst of both are when they hew too close to the source material. This is an excellent example of how to do it right.
lyrics for me or anyone else She's always asking, "Am I alright?" As if auspicious or in my pint I'll find the answer or a good night Thank God the time is short And, yes, you always do that one thing When you wrinkle up the nose bridge I'm tryna figure out what that meant I took it as a taunt Remember way back then in school? Oh, did anybody ever say no to you? Whoa Did anybody ever say no to you? Whoa And I don't think I have a clue 'Cause, well, did anybody ever say no to you? Whoa Did anybody ever say no to you? Whoa You're always tryna leave the table Phone calls, toilet breaks, unstable And don't you think that we can all tell? You're insecure, you're insecure I guess I always do that one thing When I get too drunk and jump in To figure out what makes your brain tick I'm a listener, I'm a listener Remember way back then in school? 'Cause well, did anybody ever say no to you? Whoa Did anybody ever say no to you? Whoa But I don't think I have a clue 'Cause, well, does anybody ever say no to you? Whoa Does anybody ever say no to you? Whoa Woo And I don't think so 'Cause I don't think so Forget the number for the cab call As you're dashing out the front door You claim to try to dodge the catcalls Thank God the time is short And, yes, you always do that one thing 'Cause when you throw and drench me under your drink I'm tryna figure out what that means I took it as a taunt
For a late birthday present, I’d LOVE to hear y’all cover “all you had to do was stay” but the Ryan Adams version of Swift’s song. I think it would be in your wheelhouse AND it would be awesome to hear! 😁
This doesn’t feel the same as the original, which I guess the point as a cover is putting your own spin on a song. It’s got a more easy going vibe to it, I love it
