If you're a BoardGameGeek[.]com user, you likely know that all games have a Weight rating. This is a good example of how I believe those ratings are broken. Dominant Species is listed as the most complex game in my collection, and though it is heavy, I don't think it's all that complicated to learn. Glad you liked the video.
Nice tutorial but you made mistakes; 1) You didn't replace the initiative action marker when you used it 2) When you glaciated you should have put the species back into the gene pool, not removed from the game (this is the only time that a removed species is returned to the gene pool). 3) When speciating you can speciate the 3 tiles surrounding the chosen resource (18.20) 4) Regression action was incorrect as detailed by Shamfulexistance
Fantastic tutorial....gonna give this game a go now that I see it isn't nearly as complicated as I first thought. I love worker placement and this might be on par with my favorites Stone Age, Agricola, and le Havre.
At around the 20:00 there's a tie for dominance in the mountains. The dominance cone was removed. I thought that the benefit of being higher on the food chain is that ties go in your favor?
I agree. I've been switching back and forth between my Galaxy Nexus and my wife's iPhone. The iPhone is much better, camera wise... but I think I'm going to look into a proper camera.
This tutorial does not execute the regression action correctly. The element (sun in this case) is NOT removed from the regression box. The action pawn placed here protects ONLY you from losing a sun element from your animal display. This is important because it means any other animal (other player) with a sun element is NOT protected from losing a sun element from their animal animal display card if they did not place one of their own action pawns here.
Great, many thanks for the tutorial. I am going to play my copy tonight and this really helped to get up to speed with the rules :)

Where did you get the storage containers for this game?
