In 1953 the base model Corvette cost $3,498. Looking at inflation compared to today a base model Corvette would cost $41,331.59. It's outrageous the prices of vehicles now. When GM announced the 2020 would finally be mid-engine...and for less than $ 60k....I was elated.
My budget was $ 40k and I assumed after 3 years, I'd be able to pick up a used 2020 for $ 40k.
Then the strike...COVID...and all hell broke loose. The C8 became the hottest thing since sliced bread,
with dealer games/ADM that in retrospect are still hard to believe. I eventually swallowed hard and bought a new 2023 base C8 at MSRP.

HHmm, UUmm, HHmm. I paid 94k-ish for my early 2021 C8 loaded convertible. That was MSRP though. So somehow you believe a flat plane crank Z06 at 110k is MASSIVELY overpriced? Maybe you are very young and don't yet understand automotive economics... but when you become ruler of your world, let me know and maybe I'll move there... because I love the sound of getting something for nothing LOL. ... a Z06 should be well under 100k? I sold my C8 when I got divorced in 2021. I bought a manual C5 coupe for the money I made off the C8 at the time. I have 93% of the fun I had in the C8 :-) I have about 15k into my C5. If I spent another 15k into it, a stock C5 Z06 would quickly disappear in my mirror. With the extra 15k, I could update the handling and upgrade the engine and probably put a hurt'n on the C6 Z06. The C5 coupe is a great value and great car to modify. I do love how a lowered C5 Z06 looks though. It's the only reason I would buy the C5 Z06, it looks pretty badass... but even it's performance would certainly benefit greatly from some upgrades :-)

I see a lot of people talking about taking loans for toys, inflated prices, interest rates, etc..
Here's a suggestion (and it's something that really worked for me).
    1) Make believe today you bought whatever it is that you have a jones for.
    2) Calculate what the payment, increased insurance, and taxes would be so you get an accurate monthly amount.
    3) Take out a separate savings account.
    4) EVERY month going forward, put that amount into your new account.
    5) 6 months down the road, ask yourself how you're doing. Miss a self-payment? Find this was no big deal to do? Find that this is the most cash you had in awhile or ever? Would have rather had the ride than the cash? Would rather have/do something else with the cash? Do your own honest evaluation.
    6) And go another 6 months. Seriously, time flies.
What I'm suggesting is that if you become your own bank, you get your own interest, just for cooling your jets. Beyond that, it's not uncommon, depending on what you're after and the market, that the thing you were after has actually depreciated/is cheaper, so now you're in even better shape. Or you have time to find a vehicle that someone was all about, but now needs to off it for any number of reasons, like age or other priorities.
Here's another one. When you skip a "purchasing cycle' and get away from the whole interest deal (which is now on your side), the next thing is stop riding the "buy it and sell if for less than half of what you paid" cycle. In short, keep it. If you thought it was cool then, why are you giving it away now? And why did you keep it pristene for someone else?
So, in my case, starting in the mid-90's with this plan, I continued to bust my ass for toys, but I now have a dozen of them (2, 3, and 4-wheeled), all pristene and low mileage, get to drive whatever I want, and the bank hasn't received a penny in 30 years.
**The craziest thing is that you wind up owning things that, when you haven't driven them in awhile, jumping back in or on them is kinda like you just got it all over again! What you're also doing is splitting your "joy miles" across multiple vehicles because you can only drive one at a time, so you win there as well. (Yes, you'll need storage space, but your garage is an appreciating asset, so all good.)
Be your own bank and don't fire sale what was once your dream is the message. Over time you can end up with a collection of really cool stuff, instead of 1 latest wondertoy and a payment schedule.
Put another way, you shouldn't be paying for what you're driving, you should be saving for the next one, unless you think banks deserve your money more than you do.

Prices are part of the problem. Interest rates are another. Daughter bought a brand new Subaru with 2.99% few weeks ago. So random manufacture deals exist. But overall bank rates are insane. 806 Credit score for me. Need a 84 month loan to afford a 60k pick up or scat pack so interst rates are 7% to 8%. That's nuts for perfect credit!!! 3rd problem. Soft on crime the last several years. So thefts are out of control. Cops don't even raise an eyebrow when people go through our streets cars. We know who it is. They say turn it in to insurance. Only time jail happens (catch and release) is when they take the whole car. So everyone's insurance rates are doubling to cover crime en mass. 60K vehicle is $2,000 a month with loan, interest, insurance and gas. And that's mid level Pick up, Challenger and no Vette.

@BigJoe2.0 Mine is blocked in by 2 other vehicles until interest rates come down, and I can afford to take a loan to build a garage. It's not gonna build at 9% interest. Ram 2 doors down from me were stolen in July. Same truck I have, so I feel lucky. I live in a country with 1 acre properties, and everyone is red neck gun owners with dont tread on me flags. Yet..... Criminals from the city a mile away come out here and steal cars. I have no idea how they don't get shot. Last year, national news was made because a car and motorcycle drove into a guys property. (Lost looking for a party) Homeowner thought it was bandits and shot a warning shot. At the car like a fool and killed a teen girl instantly. This is the type of BS that's happening because everyone is scared or causing fear of crime. My 1970 Nova 396 got jacked June 1st this year by a punk who didn't think red lights applied to him and was trying to get to two guys over dosing on herion. Totaled my classic and almost took my arm out the window clear off. Cops and insurance did nothing except write a ticket to him. I had it insured for 2016 value. So cost me a 40k car. Can't protect them on property, can't insure them, and ya can't arrest or shoot the thiefs. My next vehicle will be a dozen with steel plates. Hahahahahah

Ford Beat C8 Z06 on the Nurburgring in Germany no wonder nobody wants them.
The best lap time for a car made in the US at the Nürburgring in Germany is held by the Ford Mustang GTD, which completed a lap in 6 minutes and 57.685 seconds.

I’m not a fan of the C8 personally and the prices don’t really help. $60k I can get a new base C8 or a C7, I find alot better looking and easier to work on, C7 Z06 for roughly around 60k for a slightly used one

My grandfather wants a Corvette, but has no interest in a C8 since they do not offer a manual, and I agree....a big mistake to not offer one. So he may go for an older Corvette or get something else.

LMAO. It is not a traditional auto transmission. It has dual clutches. Its a manual transmission that can shift on its on also. To get the same sensation and reaction you just use the paddle shifters. Do some research and look up dual clutch transmissions. Then drop him off at the dealer so he can order his to his spec.

@MR.TOYBOX D.C. are lame, hard pass...made to make people who don't want to/can't drive manual feel better about them selves. Without a manual transmission, there is no real connection between man and machine. Humanity is declining.

My recommendation: Before the warranty expires, either sell the car or allocate at least $10k $20k for future repairs. I learned from experience that GM and lots of electronics do not mix well.

Corvettes are basically adult toys. (Which is fine) 👍🏻 i had one and it was a blast.
But the market will dictate what they want, and what they will pay.
