The "Thing" about Cannons is their Mixing/ Engineering and most of all Mastering acumen..I mean listen to any Cannons tracks ..even the earlier tracks from "Up all night" they are stand out mixes and Masterd exceptionally well. Michelle's mastery of the subtle dynamics of her voice is just alchemy. Love this band..
I love this band. All 3 members are so humble & down-to-earth. I remember being in an Upscale Hotel Bar in NYC & I heard: "Spells" and, as a fellow musician/producer = loved the sound & production. I follow them closely, and wish them even Greater Success in the upcoming year 2022.
big fan of Cannons, so glad you interviewed Michelle Joy - I found out about this group when i was watching a Netflix series "SexLife" and heard a great soundtrack behind the scenes of the film and was blown away - I shazamed the song and found out that it was Cannons (what was i missing here!!) - a three piece group from california - the main 2 musicians Ryan Clapham (Guitar) & Paul Davis (drums & keyboards) grew up together - they needed to find a lead singer and put out a message on Craigslist - and found Michelle Joy!! True Story - A day later i downloaded about 25/30 of their songs - amazing - later that month I found myself going to their concert in Ft., Lauderdale - the crowd there went crazy for them when they came out!! What a night!!
You can hear the Gwen Stefani influence in her voice, but Gwen has vibrato and a little more volume in her voice. I wonder if Michelle Joy could benefit from some vocal coaching to give her voice more volume and vibrato to mask off pitch notes. Her voice is so quiet and sometimes off pitch when they play live. I like their songs and she’s a great front woman, but the vocals can be underwhelming in live performance.

Dude! For real. It's ear candy at loud volumes. Either through good speakers or headphones, it all sounds so lush and vibrant.
