It has happened to us twice. In 2010, in Austin, Tx the referred realtor took me to some low income higher crime Hispanic area. I asked him why, are you showing me here. He said “I thought you would want to be with your ppl”. I responded, “show me in the neighborhood where you live, my credit is that good”.
Another time, somewhere else in Texas,, one seller asked me to provide him a letter of reference before he would consider our offer. We were offering the full price for the home. I surrendered to God and played ball with that buyer. I got us a letter of reference from a (white man) judge and now we are super happy we moved there. It has been a blessing. All the neighbors have been kind to us, it was just that one former owner who was racist (to our face).

One reason it persists is that Blacks still must be “exceptional” by “accepted standards” for mediocre whites to “accept” them. Even then, Blacks can be discriminated against but the act tends to be muted once they’ve been “vetted.” What’s more interesting are the conflict of values residing within transitional Black areas that were once solid, stable communities of mostly owners. As those areas lose value, often manipulated by corporate and governmental entities, more instability encroaches. In Chicago, for example, such a plan - some call a conspiracy - destroyed two such communities. One of them, Chatham, was hailed for decades as the largest concentration of Black middle-class home owners in the country. The second, South Shore, had transitioned from whites to middle- and working-class Black owners and stable, upwardly mobile renters. In each case, the values were apparent. Property crimes were comparatively low, public schools were decent, owners occupied most of the residences, small businesses thrived, etc. When the country’s largest housing projects were razed, rather than invest in new housing for occupants, it was decided to provide them with housing vouchers and the dispossessed were directed to areas like Chatham and South Shore, both containing a good share of multi-unit dwellings. Owners saw the writing on the wall and accepted contracts, they aged, died, etc. and in a space of a decade, the formerly stable neighborhoods were deluged by people with different values, lifestyles, habits… Property values suffer, businesses have abandoned properties in formerly commercial zones, property and violent crimes have risen, senior owners who did not relocate are terrorized… So, this is a more interesting story to me.

I think it all comes down to a few simple things. Many people don't want African Americans moving in because then they'd ruin a quiet neighborhood. I used to live in a nice Chicago Suburb. Me as well as all my neighbors had to move out because more African Americans started moving in and doing things such as blasting loud music not cleaning up after their pets and constantly getting into gang disputes which would lead to my family being woken up at 2am every single morning to gunshots. I also as well as many of my other neighbors noticed an uptick in theft. Everyday i'd see 3 cops on my street becasue someones car was stolen or broken into.

America is systematically racist. We moved to an affluent neighborhood in Florida after retiring from the Air Force. The white neighbor across from me would constantly peek out her window whenever my family came to visit. My family members are educated and middle class. One white neighbor told another neighbor that when she sold her home in another area to move to ours, that the neighbors asked her not to sell to African-Americans. Nothing has changed in America. Except we are determined to live where ever the hell we want!

I live in a depressed neighborhood, and it is very obvious with all the price increases (my energy bill went from 130 to 293, while my daughters, who live in better neighborhoods and used about the same as me saw increases of about 20 dollars), trash going up, all assessments going up, etc. Clearly they want us out of here.

I am a USA Muslim woman, now living in Queretaro, Mexico, since 11-2-2021. Usa got too deadly and expensive for this 79 years old living on a pension. It is $850 dollars less expensive per month, and includes all utilities and maid service, and a beautiful view of the city. I am in a gated community with 24/7 security. I have been visiting and living part time in Mexico, mainly Acapulco, since 1962, and Spanish is my second language. I still get my groceries online, delivered to my door, and my laundry is picked up and delivered to me.
I tried using Amazon-Mexico to order food, that I miss from the USA, but DHL would not deliver to my home, and said I was not home, so I took a taxi to pick up my products. Dented cans, but what was not sent was refunded. The Louisiana hot sauce was packed very securely, and my red pepper flakes. I will try to get La Comer supermarket to order for me, since they bring my groceries and they are EXCELLENT!
There is not any food shortage here, and not any limits on what you can buy.
I pray to God, that the world is rescued from the evil and greedy demons attacking us.
I am very happy here in safe, beautiful and super clean Queretaro, Mexico.

We need to stop hiding the segregation and do a new rendition of it. One that's ACTUALLY fair for all races. To strip the land, resources, and make a race of ppl slaves then after they're no longer slaves set up policies that don't allow that race to build themselves up properly is not equal. I know 100% if the playing field was even us as black people would excel (we actually proved it with Black Wall Street). Just look at how much we've STILL accomplished and things we've created in the midst of all the bullshit in this country. Imagine us being able to actually build without "the powers that be" standing there with a sledgehammer to knock it down.

They told me the computer auto checked it for us.
My husband said ok but they marked it wrong (being biracial)
They told him that only one box can be checked.
It was fine until we kept getting appraised out of our loan. 3 times at $500 of appraisal. The third time was a different guy and he appraised it in our loan range within 5 mins.
I don't why but that first man almost broke me. We even started looking for another house before the 3rd appraisal.

So its like u cant win being a person of color. The black folks that cant qualify (& cant save due to low wages) are ANGRY at a successful black person that achieved, then the whites are mad at the same individual & all in that persons business saying "why didnt the Jim Crow-level safeguards" prevent this person from being able to buy anything. shut up Karen do you have education? how many white people are homeless in san Francisco? regardless of color education should not deny someone a place to live. you dont need education to be successful many people do skills and trades not even going to high school which include white people so keep your ignorant ass quiet. in addition many white people have very bad credit some dont even have. if you stayed in school a bit longer and paid attention in social studies you`ll know the system issues that people of color from africans to asians face when living in America. so guess who isnt educated. and educated person which you claim to be wont be posting such nonsense after watching a video which clearly says why people of color have difficulties getting loans and mortgages. dummy Andrea

Interesting that these problems are real bad in liberal areas. Vote differently and hold politicians accountable. I don't remember then asking the banks why they denied more black people but if can be proven to be raced base than they should be sued. And inherited wealth only works when both parents die... Most people should already be financially set before that happens.

Pretty difficult to vote at all when the GOP are implementing voter laws/gerrymander maps that are designed to suppress the black vote.

@@stupidshouldhurt8363 One, being voter ID laws
another is putting policies in place that make voting inconvenient for predominantly black areas.
Voter ID serves no purpose other than to suppress black turnout. Voter fraud is incredibly rare this is back by multiple studies/investigations including one commissioned by the Trump administration in 2018. Voter fraud is a high risk low reward crime. Voter ID laws addresses a problem that doesn’t exist and disenfranchise black voters. So no as it currently stands it shouldn’t be on the books.
See North Carolina where the state Supreme Court ruled the voter ID law: S.B. 824 main purpose was to discriminate against black voters likely to vote Democrat.

Racism in housing has been well documented.
Black homeowners houses often have lower appraisals but the appraisal of the same house have a higher value when it’s occupied by a white person.
During the subprime mortgage crisis black homeowners were disproportionately given subprime loans despite qualifying for better better loans.
Look up the practice of “Redlining” and how it still shape many areas of this country.
Due to redlining many houses in black neighborhoods are still worth less than houses in white neighborhoods. Because schools are funded in part by property taxes black schools are often underfunded.

Obviously in the past there was horrible racist practices but it doesn't make sense that race matters anymore when buying a home and they don't really tell you why in this video.
