I have 6 of these, yes I know, I have a problem. What makes these special is that Yamaha put a lot of engineering into this little bike. Full size handlebar controls, oil injection, shaft drive and good brakes. And a lot of parts for their PW 50 interchange. Very durable engine and drive train.
Man am I glad I found you. I just found one of these motors beside a dumpster..it was attached to a Raleigh bicycle right where the pedals crank.. cool bike I wanna get it going
Good to see you again yankee, it's been a while since you uploaded a video. I think you'll need to adjust the carburetor just for piece of mind. They're designed to top out at 30 mph, and please make sure to open up the vent and you did real good in my book. Thanks for the video.

You have it going as fast as when new from Yamaha. Now, how much $$$ for how fast do you want to go? We had one since brand new, an 81. last winter I went nuts. Malossi 72cc top end, re gear drive shaft, bigger carb. on and on. 45 mph top speed, good pickup. Brakes are now the weak point. I followed Moped Thurs. and Moped Army. Started cheap, wound up $$$ anyway. Lots of info on these, just need to study. Good luck.
@@kentuckyyankee Oh, I see. I just got a 1981 Yamaha QT50 a few days ago (it was given to me). It has square-shaped signal and head lights. I noticed that the US and EU versions have round ones. I thought it was like a Honda Cub C70 (because I also have one) that is semi-automatic.

What size o ring you put in Petcock? Also is there a fitment Petcock for the Yamaha qt 50 1985

how do you shift gear on QT50? is this the same with Honda Cub C70 no clutch but up to 3 gears?
No shifting just pull back the throttle like a go-cart.
