Hiya, talking of attics & live wires... 200 years ago I went in a loft to have a look see as said to do a quote having been told by the house owner, "Yea, it's all safe up there!" I then put my hand on two four inch nails hammered into the cross joist about two inches apart. OK, so what? One nail had a load of lives, six inches bare copper, wrapped around it, the other nail the second half of the deadly pair! Deadly? Yep I went through the ceiling & was dead on the carpet. The home owners wife was a nurse & gave me 'Kiss of life & smacked hell out of my chest to get my heart re-started! It was before the days of sue for everything but still got a fair bundle off the judge! Morel... Only trust yourself & check everything for yourself before touching anything, even in the dark!!! Stay safe... Steve...

I never allowed 40amp on a 6mm but I have been told because an shower or an cooker is a fixed load as long as the load doesn’t exceed the maximum current rating of the 6mm cable then there is no reason to fail it on a EICR.

Or, for thermoplastic sheathed cables 2 live cores clipped direct 58amp or 42amp for enclosed in conduit in thermally insulating walls. I guess they've gone by that table 4E2A. I've just installed 6mm Hituff submain clipped direct with a 45 amp 3871 6kA type 2 breaker.... your excellent video brought me up short and made me check out the book again... phew... the reasons for it being 6mm when really I shouldve gone with 10mm are not completely well explained in the footage I'm getting round it, but stems from the customer changing their mind a lot during installation. The submain only supplies a 32amp and 6amp RCBO for an HVAC and heater unit from a commercial kitchen, all run above suspended ceiling clipped direct to concrete.

Clause 1, receipts needed for all claims, which means anything you acquired from your apprenticeship that you've purchased like tapes, and screwdrivers etc aren't covered. Clause 2, includes a 10% depreciation value per year. 5k of tools are still 5k of tools to replace, and probably more. Not offering new for old is a big deal breaker. And you can't buy a tool policy without purchasing other policies. There are better insurers out there for tools.

If lightning hit the house the lighting would go to that bond point and blow right though the thin copper pipe and one big fire / blow torch. Around Texas we have to use black iron pipe or poly, copper isn't allowed for gas. Underground its all poly pipe anyway, as many homes have exploded because of rusted iron pipe underground leaking.

Not a sparky, but love watching your videos as you explain stuff so well.
One request tho, could you, in one video, explain all the acronyms? CPC, ZS, ZE, R1, R2... Easy to google I know, but I have a feeling you'll explain it in plain english, with visuals if needed.
    Thanks Buddy

Oba large installation with a lots of current flow it may make a difference.
The eddy currents on a sp supply in a consumer unit are so low they won't make a difference.
But the reg has to be applied at some level and to remove ambiguity, the lowest level is the safest. Hope you get what I mean.
521.5 1 does apply but like a lot of the regs book is over zealous in some applications

Advertising, one ad about 10 minutes in and another 2 at the end, both for the coming 5G Investments, followed by that one where they have to bleep every word to make you think it's worse than it is so you buy their soap.
