I've been restoring dolls for awhile now and in the beginning I used fabric softner. In my experience, this is not as good as people say. It does sometimes leave that greasy feeling you mentioned. I wouldn't continue using it, if I were you. Great video.

I wouldn’t really recommend using fabric softener on your doll hair. All it does is slowly disintegrate the hair

You only really need to do it once , unless you move them often so it won’t disintegrate the hair

I LOVEEE, and Its always a good idea to style the dolls hair while boil washing, Its supposed to secure the style you want :D.

I use suave or vo5 shampoo and conditioner on my dolls..it rinces outand doesn't leave residential product and adds shine and so much softness. Even works on saran and polypropylene hair too. Fabric softener however degrades synthetic and natural fibers over time so I definitely would not use it on doll hair...it also can make the hair greasy ♡ just a cheap shampoo and conditioner and boil wash only ♡

I've found that when you use a bit of baby powder to take away the greasy look.. Kinda like doll dry shampoo
